Abstract

Microcrystalline chitosan is a chitosan that has been modified by minimizing its particle size. Chitosan posses antibacterial property. The use of microcrystalline chitosan as an antibacterial in the mouthwash has not been revealed yet. This study was done to compare the degree  effectiveness of mouthwash that contain  microcrystalline chitosan as an antibacterial and commercial mouthwash. The parameters measured in this study were proximate analysis, yield, deacetylation (Fourier Transform Infrared), particle size (Scanning Electron Microscopy), and total plate count. Microcrystalline chitosan contained moisture, ash, nitrogen and yield were 3.92% dry weight basis (db); 4% db, 1.4% db; and 50% respectively. Detection results of FTIR and SEM showed the size of microcrystalline chitosan was 0.6-6μm and degree of deacetylation was 88.66%. Mouthwash that contained 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% microcrystalline chitosan could reduce TPC bacteria up to 97.57%, 99.05% and 99.46% respectively, while commercial mouthwash reduced TPC bacteria up to 89.70%.Keywords: antibacterial, microcrystalline chitosan, mouthwash.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesuksesan siswa dalam belajar matematika yang dipengaruhi oleh cara guru menyampaikan materi pelajarannya. Seorang pengajar harus mencari dan memilih metode yang tepat untuk setiap topik yang kita berikan agar siswa berpartisipasi aktif tetapi pengajaran tetap efektif dan efisien. Kemampuan guru dalam menguasai materi dan menerapkan model pembelajaran merupakan salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan guru dalam proses belajar-mengajar. Salah satu teknik yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif penyampaian materi adalah teknik ikonik. Teknik ikonik adalah penyampaian konsep matematika dengan perantaraan gambar yang pada akhirnya siswa menemukan sendiri konsep yang dipelajari dengan perantaraan gambar tersebut. penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemahaman matematik siswa, dengan pembelajaran menggunakan Teknik Ikonik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action Research) dengan subjek penelitian kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Pangatikan Kabupaten Garut yang terdiri dari 21 siswa laki-laki dan 13 siswa perempuan. Adapun hasil yang diperoleh adalah (a) aktivitas guru selama proses pembelajaran selalu berpijak pada tahap-tahap teknik ikonik yang disesuai dengan indikator aktivitas guru, aktivitas belajar siswa selama proses pembelajaran dikategorikan baik,

Abstract

Seagrass ecosystems are components of coastal ecosystems that play roles in life, such as habitat, spawning ground, and feeding ground for the marine organism, including fishes. The purpose of this study was to describe the composition of fishes associated with seagrass ecosystems in the waters of Bintan Island and its surroundings. A total of four observation stations, namely Setumu Coast, Dinsos Coast, Bantu Empang Coast, and Malang Rapat Coast. Fish sample were collected in each station using gill nets 100 m in length and mesh size of 1.5 inches. The collected fish sample were identified and counted for relative abundance. Based on this research, the fish species collected in this research comprised 26 species. The highest abundance of fish was found in the Batu Empang coast station in Pengudang Village. Pengudang Village has a very high percentage of seagrass cover. The individual highest abundance is Siganus canaliculatus, commonly found in Malang Rapat coast. This species has depend on the seagrass ecosystems highly.
