Abstract

This study aimed to know students' opinions about the implementations of asynchronous learning (Screencast-O-Matic and Google-Form apps) during COVID-19, to identify the advantages and disadvantages were produced by these devices, as well as to analyze how big the students' confidence on this type of learning when implemented in the rural area. The subject of this study consisted of 45 respondents from the English education study program. They spread in the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8thsemester. Qualitative descriptive students were used in this study. Among the questionnaire, open-ended questions and interviews were the methods to collect the data. The results of this study indicated these platforms had shown various obstacles. Over half of respondents criticize that limited internet access was one of the most significant restrictions when implementing asynchronous learning (Screencast-O-Matic and Google-Form apps). Although Screencast-O-Matic and Google-Form had some barriers in their virtual class, they provide more advantages. Many respondents believed they have all these advantages compared to the limits. The majority of respondents argued that it facilitated EFL students to increase acquisitions of language software that could contribute to students' ICT capabilities in particular.

Abstract

One language that is a communication tool in various parts of the world is English; English has become a language that must be mastered by the community, especially students. However, not everyone can easily speak English. The purpose of this research is to know the level of anxiety when they speak in English at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan students. This research uses a qualitative method. One hundred and twenty seven students were selected as the participants of the questionnaire; the tool used for this study was adapted from Horwitz, Horwitz & Cope (1986) Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS). The result of this study was showed that the majority of the students (n=103) were found students had a moderate level of anxiety, one student had a very high level of anxiety and thirteen students were found to had a high level of anxiety. The level of anxiety by dimensions, such as the Fear of Negative Evaluation (FNE) ranks third. Meanwhile, Communication Apprehension (CA) and Test Anxiety (TA) are significantly dominant performance anxieties.

Abstract

This study is to know the teachers' perception of adopting a virtual classroom during a pandemic and discover the conveniences, obstacles, and suggestions when e-learning is being carried out. Sort of this research was qualitative using descriptive method. The method of choosing respondents used convenience sampling. Data collection used questionnaires and open-ended questions. Junior and senior high school teachers in North Maluku were respondents in this research. The subjects of this study were 92 respondents. To analyze the data using SPSS 17. Based on the finding, it found that majority of the teachers used several platforms for online home study during the lockdown. Either Single types of platforms or mixed e-learning was used to gain maximum results in instructional activity. Nine list advantages were addressed on e-learning; in the contrary, it also produced seven barriers. Additionally, the educators offered attractive and innovative ideas to tackle numerous obstacles among educators, students, and educational institutions

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the students' responses to the use of comic strips as a learning medium in class VIII MTs N1 Morotai. This research used a quantitative method and included 38 eighth-grade students. This research employs a genuine experimental procedure, using random sampling as the sampling strategy. In the learning process, this instrument is utilized as a questioner following the comic strip treatment. As a result of this study, seven things are right or legitimate, while the other three are incorrect. Valid items ranging from 0.374 to 0.545 with an r-table of 5% were 0.320. Out of the 10 things tested, only seven were correct. The indicator selection revealed that the lowest score was 28 and the highest score was 45. The indicator of learning independence was assigned a score of 37.45, while the final one was assigned a score of 38.32 as an indicator of media presentation. Although comic strip media has limits, many other respondents think that they outweigh these drawbacks. The majority of responders believe it helps pupils enhance their writing skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan prestasi belajar bahasa inggris siswa ditinjau dari tipe kepribadian introvert dan extrovert pada siswa SMA di Kabupaten Pulau Morotai. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA di Kabupaten Pulau Morotai, yang tersebar lima kecamatan. proses penentuan sampling dilakukan dengan menggunakan table Krejchie-Morgan, maka sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 174 dari jumlah keseluruhan populasi adalah 323 siswa. Intrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua instrument yaitu:1) Questioner untuk mengukur tipe kepribadian siswa. 2) Dokumentasi  hasil belajar siswa selama satu semester. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 10% siswa dengan tipe kepribadian introvert maupun extrovert belum mampu mencapai criteria minimum KKM pada mata pelajaran bahasa inggris. Siswa dengan kepribadian introvert maupun extrovert tidak memiliki perbedaan terhadap capaian hasil belajar pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola pngajaran yang diterapkan guru SMP di Kabupaten Pulau Morotai terhadap siswa lamban belajar. Sekolah yang dipilih untuk mewakili penelitian ini adalah MTS N 1. Pulau Morotai, SMP N 14 Morotai, MTS Muhammadiyah 1 Pulau Morotai, dan SMP N 2 Pulau Morotai. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari 2019 sampai bulan November 2019. Peneliti menetapkan subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa lamban belajar yang tersebar di 4 sekolah serta wali kelas, guru mata pelajaran dan guru BK di 4 sekolah. Teknik pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling hal ini berdasarkan subjek penelitian yaitu siswa lamban belajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan qualitative. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah descriptive analisis. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan observasi. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan siswa lamban belajar yang menempuh pendidikan di sekolah umum belum sepenuhnya terpenuhi dan belum mendapatkan perhatian serius dari pelaku pendidikan. Belum adanya adaptasi kurikulum yang menyesuaikan dengan kebutuhan siswa lamban belajar sehingga kebutuhan siswa lamban belajar tidak terakomodasi dengan baik. penggunaan kurikulum di sekolah umum untuk siswa lamban belajar membutuhkan beberapa penyesuaian beberapa aspek program pembelajaran. Aspek program pembelajaran mencakup cara penyajian, cara respon siswa, keterlibatannya dalam belajar serta penambahan strategi, metode maupun teknik pembelajaran.

Abstract

Penelitian in dilakukan untuk mengetahui kesalahan urutan kata dan faktor-faktor kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa bahasa Inggris tahun ketiga Universitas Pasifik Morotai. Metode analisa deskripsi di gunakan dalam teknik analisis data. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 5 mahasiswa jurusan Bahasa Inggris tahun ke-tiga di Universitas Pasifik Morotai. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa mahasiswa jurusan Bahasa Inggris tahun ke-tiga Universitas Pasifik Morotai melakukan kesalahan tatabahasa dalam urutan kata determiner, ordinative, epithet, classifier, dan head (DOECH). Kesalahan yang sering dilakukan dari salah penempatan untuk DOECH adalah kesalahan ephitet dari semua jawaban dari responden yaitu 25. Di posisi ke-dua yaitu ordinativr dengan jumlah salah penempatan yaitu 12, kemudian di ikuti oleh determiner, classifier, dan head dengan jumlah salah penempatan masing-masing sebesar 10. Selain itu, eror pada kata kerja mencapai posisi tertinggi dengan jumlah error sebesar 28.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis efektivitas dari media Flip-Book berbasis Screencast-O-Matic Video Sebagai sistem Asynchronous untuk pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di Daerah Rural. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode descriptive-quantiitative. Subjek pada penelitian ini yakni sebanyak 76 mahasiswa yang tersebar pada Program Studi Teknik Informatika, Ilmu Kelautan, Administrasi Negara, dan Akuntansi. Uji validitas dan reliabilitas dilakukan pada pengujian instrument penelitian. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan angket yang terdiri dari 31 pernyataan baik pernyataan positive maupun negative. Skala pengukuran yang digunakan pada penelitian ini menggunakan skala likert. Dari keempat aspek yang digunakan peneliti dalam mengukur efektivitas media pembelarajan Flip-book berbasis SoM video dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, aspek kemampuan pendidik dalam mengelola pembelaran mempunyai nilai mean tersebar yaitu 44.97 dengan nilai minimum sebesar 39, dan nilai maksimum sebesar 50. Diikuti aspek aktivitas belajar dengan nilai mean sebesar 36.43, dan aspek ketuntasan belajar sebesar 31.57. sedangkan aspek sarana prasarana yang menunjang pembelajaran memiliki nilai mean terkecil yakni sebesar 27.24. dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa aspek kemampuan pendidik dalam mengelola pembelajaran merupakan aspek yang paling berpengaruh pada efetivitas media pembelarajan Flip-book berbasis SoM video dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Pupils at the eleventh grade of SMA N 1 Morotai have different personality types, most of whom often feel anxious when speaking. This research is aimed at finding out whether or not introvert and extrovert personality types have correlation with pupils’ level of anxiety in speaking English. This research is quantitative in nature, using causal- correlative method. The population of the research was all pupils in the seventh grade of SMA N 1 Pulau Morotai. The total number of population was 140 pupils but 105 pupils were selected to participate as the sample of this research. In choosing the sample, the researchers applied Krejchie- Morgan’s table with 5% error rate. In terms of data analysis, the researchers took two instrument tests; namely personality test and level of anxiety during English speaking test. To know the personality types of the pupils, the researchers utilized Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) test. Questionnaire of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS), on the other hand, was used to know the students’ level of anxiety. Result of hypothesis testing analysis shows that there was no significant difference in the level of speaking anxiety between the pupils who have introvert and extrovert personality types. The value of sig 0.264 was found to be higher than α = 0.05.

Abstract

This research aims to know the differences achievement in English essay writing between introvert and extrovert personality types toward high school students of Morotai. Design of this research used quantitative and focused to the comparative method. Population of this research was high school students in the regency of Morotai Island that separated in the 5 sub-district. Sampling technique of this research used Simple Random sampling by using Krechie Morgan’s Table. Thus, sample of this research was 174 students with total of population were 323 students. Instrument that was used in this research were 2 instruments, they are 1) questionnaire; to measure the students personality types. 2) Writing test; to measure the students’ ability in writing. Analyze the data in this research used Independent t-test. Based on the EPI scale, the result shown that 40 students were introvert dan 134 students were extrovert. Based on the Independent T-test result, significant value α =0.077> α = 0.05, the result proved that there were no significant differences in English essay writing achievement between introvert and extrovert personality.
