Abstract

This paper aims to find out how to apply rewards and punishments in improving employee performance in the Development Administration of  West Aceh Regional Secretariat. The problem is focused on the provision of Rewards and Punishments, which have not gone well. To approach this problem, I used the theoretical references from Nnaji-Ihedinmah and Egbunik. The data were collected through a descriptive approach using interview, observation and documentation techniques and analyzed qualitatively. The results of this study are that the application of rewards in the Development Administration section has not been carried out properly. The provision of rewards was not given since there was no budget for giving rewards to employees. The employees only got performance benefits and allowances from existing programs. Rewards in the form of appreciation, neither financial nor non-financial awards were ever given to employees. Thus it can conclude that the employees want the application of these rewards to improve employee performance to be more motivated in doing work. The application of punishment, both in the development administration and during the morning meeting, has been carried out but has not gone well, there were still many employees who do not comply with the regulations that have been made, so it is necessary to carry out a more in-depth evaluation and improve the implementation of the rules more effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the history of Acehnese wars and the progress of peace in Aceh after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Aceh Freedom Movement, or Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (GAM), and the Republic of Indonesia in Helsinki on August 15th, 2005. Prior to this, Aceh was a tense region and home to the longest armed conflict in Southeast Asia – underway since 1982. The people of Aceh were fighting to realize the concept of self-independence. However, the movement came to a stop when the devastating tsunami hit Aceh on December 26th, 2004. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the root of Acehnese wars. The paper will provide the current political, social, economic and cultural achievements since Aceh entered into a new chapter of peace. Using qualitative approach, the theory of inequality and conflict and Fanon’s ideas, this paper offers a comprehensive perspective on learning from Aceh wars and conflicts. This study found that the motive of wars in Aceh can be divided from group motive, private motivation, failure of social contract and environment scarcity. Moreover, the research confirms that social and economic progress in Aceh has not been as successful as its political achievements. Furthermore, in terms of culture, progress has been ambiguous. This paper aims to provide a better understanding of how to maintain peace in Aceh by addressing social, political, economic and cultural issues with the goal of attaining prosperity and well-being for the people of Aceh.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kegiatan ekonomi global kuno di Aceh mulai tahun 1300an sampai 1500an Masehi melalui pendekatan arkeologi. Penelitian yang dijalankan melalui analisis benda tinggalan budaya di situs Lamreh, Aceh Besar khususnya keramik dagangan. Umumnya, pecahan keramik yang ditemukan berasal dari China, Thailand, Vietnam dan Myanmar. Hasil pertanggalan relatif menunjukkan bahwa keramik tersebut diimpor mulai abad ke-13 sampai 15 Masehi. Analisis morfologi menunjukkan bahwa jenis keramik China yang seladon, Qingbai dan porselin biru-putih. Sementara keramik dari Asia Tenggara adalah jenis Sangkhalok-Thailand, Annam-Vietnam dan Kendi Martaban dari Burma. Umumnya keramik-keramik tersebut adalah barang keperluan rumah tangga seperti mangkuk, piring, teko dan kendi dengan bentuk dan ukuran yang bervariasi. Temuan pecahan keramik dalam jumlah yang signifikan di situs Lamreh membuktikan bahwa kawasan ini adalah pusat perdagangan maritim di kawasan Selat Melaka mulai abad ke-13 hingga 15 Masehi. Temuan ini juga berkaitan dengan keberadaan Kerajaan Lamuri sebagai pengontrol kegiatan ekonomi di Aceh sebelum abad ke-16 Masehi. Oleh itu, keramik-keramik di situs Lamreh adalah bukti nyata tentang sebuah aktifitas ekonomi global di Aceh yang telah berlangsung sejak seribu tahun terakhir.  Kata Kunci: Ekonomi Global, Keramik Kuno, Lamuri, Arkeologi.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui implementasi Sistem Informasi Data Korporasi Jasa Raharja (DASI-JR) dalam meningkatkan produktivitas kerja pegawai di PT Jasa Raharja Perwakilan Meulaboh. Guna mendekati penelitian ini, implementasi Sistem Informasi DASI-JR dapat dilihat dari beberapa indikator menurut Edward III terdapat beberapa faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi keberhasilan proses implementasi yaitu : (1) Komunikasi; (2) Sumber daya; (3) Disposisi; dan (4) Struktur birokrasi. Data penelitian berasal dari dua sumber data, yaitu data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer penulis kumpulkan melalui hasil wawancara dengan seluruh pegawai di PT Jasa Raharja Perwakilan Meulaboh, sedangkan data sekunder penulis kumpulkan melalui buku, studi literatur dan penelitian terdahulu. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa sejauh ini penggunaan aplikasi DASI-JR pada proses pengajuan dan pembayaran dana santunan sudah cukup baik sehingga dapat meningkatkan produktivitas kerja pegawai. Namun, dalam implementasinya pada aplikasi DASI-JR masih ditemukan beberapa kendala sehingga aplikasi DASI-JR perlu untuk terus dikembangkan dan ditingkatkan agar produktivitas kerja pegawai semakin meningkat.
