Abstract

In the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) method of language education that needs of the learner are given priority. The purpose of ESP is to increase the relevance of English language instruction to student requirements. ESP is a specific educational technique to accomplish this. This research focuses on specific subjects of the English for Business Study Program aiming to equip students with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the ESP class. Based on the results and qualitative analysis of 30 participants in the study who obtained the ESP program to learn English by using qualitative descriptive. Furthermore, this research uses descriptive qualitative method analysis by presenting data through questionnaire and observations. The study investigates how students respond about the use of technology in the classroom. In this case, it will provide useful subjects and activities that will enable students to learn more and improve their English for educational purposes. The study findings represent that student was extremely positive assessments of the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in English teaching learning, and their participation in the ESP learning environment. It provided tremendous topics and activities which make both teachers and students enrich their knowledge and develop their English skills in educational purposes.

Abstract

Sejalan dengan program yang digalakan pemerintah daerah Kabupaten Subang yang bertajuk Subang Jawara yang merupakan kepanjangan dari Jaya, Istimewa, dan Sejahtera maka salah satu aspek yang harus diwujudkan adalah menggalakan potensi ekomomi yang ada di setiap wilayah di Kabupaten Subang. Kabupaten Subang di di dominasi wilayah pedesaan yang menghasilkan beragam hasil bumi, yang kemudian di olah menjadi beragam produk penganan yang di hasilkan oleh usaha individu maupun kelompok UMKM. Dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini peneliti mencoba menitik beratkan pada peran sosial media dalam upaya meningkatkan perekonomian pelaku UMKM di Desa Jalupang. Adapun permasalahan yang akan dibahas dalam pengabdian ini yaitu bagaimana rancangan strategi pemasaran UMKM Olahan Jamur Tiram di Desa Jalupang. Adapun tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah: 1)Mengedukasi masyarakat terkait potensi ekonomi dari hasil olahan jamur tiram, 2) Mengetahui potensi UMKM Desa Jalupang terutama terkait strategi promosi penjualan melalui media sosial yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan perekonomiannya. Metodologi pengabdian yang dilakukan adalah penelitan lapangan (Field Research). Peneliti mengadakan pengamatan tentang suatu fenomena dalam suatu keadaan alamiah. Sehingga diharapkan dengan pengabdian ini adanya hubungan antara peran sosial media terhadap peningkatan perekonomian pelaku UMKM di Desa Jalupang

Abstract

The TikTok application is a social media application that contains video content about anything, including some English learning content. English learning media is a tool or method used by teachers to make it easier for students to understand English subject matter, therefore this TikTok application was chosen as a learning Media. This study aims to determine students' perceptions of the use of the TikTok application as a medium for learning English and also to find out whether the TikTok application is used by students as an interesting and interactive media for learning English. The sample in this research was 139 eleventh-grade students of SMK PGRI Subang. This research design used qualitative research methods with a case study approach by getting the data from questionnaires and interviews. Questionnaires were used to determine students' perceptions of the TikTok application as their learning media in learning English, Interviews were used to determine the use of the TikTok application as an interesting and interactive media in learning English. The results show that the number of users of the TikTok application among students is 65.5%, the frequency of students using the TikTok application is 55.4%, the use of English learning media in the TikTok application for students provides a positive learning experience 64%, Using TikTok is easier for students to access video content that contains English, discusses vocabulary, speaking, grammar, which is easy for students to remember 45.3%, TikTok gives students the opportunity to hone their English skills 43.2%. Overall, it shows that the use of TikTok in learning English received a positive response from the majority of students, although there were some who were still doubtful. TikTok has had a positive impact on students in various aspects. The results of interviews regarding participant responses showed positive and varied views regarding the use of the TikTok application as an English learning media. Many participants found this experience enjoyable, beneficial, and improvement the understanding and knowledge of the language. The interactive and entertaining nature of TikTok content makes the learning process interesting and effective.

Abstract

The need for English in the classroom environment greatly influences students' English learning abilities. Therefore, this research will discuss the importance of learning English specifically in certain fields in improving English skills which are supported by material suitable are important for students' needs in ESP classes. The purpose of this research was to find out the problems material using in teaching English Specific Purposes (ESP) program. Therefore, this research will discuss the importance of learning English specifically in certain fields in improving English language skills in ESP classes on the interest of the students means knowing the students’ necessities, lacks, and wants. Not only that, research in ESP class programs wants to know that material according to ability can improve students' English language skills in certain programs. Abstract

Learning English especially speaking is very difficult for students. There are many components that students must master when learning speaking makes it difficult for students to learn it. Students find many problems when speaking such as speaking anxiety. Speaking anxiety is a feeling of excessive anxiety when students speak English. Hence, this study aims to find the levels and factors that cause speaking anxiety among the students. This study was conducted at one of English Education Study Program of a university located in Subang, West Java, Indonesia, which consisted of 20 students from first, second, third, and fourth year. This descriptive study used questionnaire and interview to obtain the data about students’ speaking anxiety.  In this case, the questionnaire was used to examine the levels of students’ speaking anxiety, while the interview was employed to investigate the factors that causing students’ speaking anxiety. Results from the questionnaire showed that 4 students (20%) scored low, 9 students (45%) scored moderate, and 7 students (35%) scored high. No semester differences were identified in the level of speaking anxiety. Female students exhibited greater nervousness when speaking English compared to male classmates. The interview results revealed three elements contributing to students' speaking anxiety: communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of unfavourable evaluation. Communication apprehension is the primary element influencing pupils' speaking anxiety. This study indicates that students need to be aware of their anxiety levels and causes in order to address them. Additionally, they need to possess self-confidence in learning English, particularly in speaking. Keywords: speaking, anxiety, speaking anxiety, students’ speaking anxiety
