Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the community structure and distribution pattern of Gastropods in the mangrove ecosystem Bolihutuo village. The study was conducted in February and July 2021 in two different stations. Community structure analysis carried out includes species composition, density, diversity, evenness, dominance, and distribution patterns by Morisita dispersion index. The results showed that 13 species of gastropods were found from 8 families, namely Cassidula nucleus, Littoraria palescens, Chicoreus capucinus, Nasarius distortus and Phrontis polygonata, Nerita planospira, Faunus ater, Pirenella alata, Cerithidea obtuse, Telescopium Telescopium, Terebralia palustris, Terebralia sulcata and Monodonta labio. Gastropod diversity of each station in June was relatively higher than observations in February. The distribution of Gastropods has a clustered, random, and uniform pattern. Keywords: Bolihutuo, Community structure, distribution pattern, Gastropods, Mangrove

Abstract

Sea urchin Tripneustes gratilla is one of an economically important fisheries resource product for localities at Wakatobi archipelago. High demands for sea urchin gonad have intensified high fishing activity. The hypothesis of this study is that sea urchins in Wakatobi have been overfished. To answer that hypothesis, the density and its test diameter size were measured at two different sites. Those two sites are Pulau Tomia (resident area) and Pulau Sawa (nonresident area and very distant from the localities). The results show that sea urchin density and its test diameter are significantly different.  The densities (mean±SE) T. gratilla at Pulau Sawa and Pulau Tomia were 10±0.6 (ind.m-2) and 2.7±0.9 ind.m-2, respectively. Moreover, the test diameter at Pulau Sawa and Pulau Tomia were 69.7±2.1 mm and 58.5±1.7 mm (mean±SE), respectively. These results have shown that overfishing has occurred. Therefore, sea urchin with test diameter 66–75 mm, 76–85 mm, and 86–95 mm have disappeared at Pulau Tomia. The Conclusion reveals that fishing of sea urchin Tripneustes gratilla at Pulau Tomia has been overfished.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the structure of the macrozoobenthic community in Limboto Lake, Gorontalo Province. Sampling was carried out at 5 stations and 3 repetitions using the Ekman Grab tool and prepared with a filter with a net size of 100 µm. Collecting data using purposive random sampling method and the influence of the macrozoobenthic community structure with physical and chemical parameters was analyzed using the CANOCO 4.5 application. The results showed that the macrozoobenthic community structure in Limboto Lake varied, with the diversity index at Station 1 and Station 2 being in the medium category, Station 3, Station 4 and Station 5 being classified as low, the uniformity index at Station 1 and Station 2 was evenly distributed, Station 3, Station 4 and Station 5 are uneven. The dominance index at Station 3, Station 4 and Station 5 shows that there are species that dominate. The highest total macrozoobenthic abundance was at Station 3, namely 427,643 individuals / m3 and the lowest was at Station 2, namely 2,038 individuals / m3. The results of the analysis showed that the substrate had the greatest influence on the macrozoobenthic community structure and was followed by other physical-chemical parameters. Abstract

Omuto Village is one of the villages located in the Biau sub-district, Gorontalo Regency. To the north is Tapalu Village, Tenilo, Biau Village, to the east by Didingga Village, to the south by Potanga Village, the West to contigous with Molangga Village. The livelihoods of the people of Omuto Village are Farmers. Corn processing is still limited to processing for traditional foods such as milu siram. This type of traditional food has a low shelf life at a low selling price. Most of the corn commodities in Omuto Village are marketed in primary form (fresh corn) or shelled dry maize with a low selling value. This program of KKS Service activities aims to increase the added value of corn through the diversification of processed food. The target of this activity is so that the target group can acquire skills in processing various kinds of products made from corn, so that gradually they are motivated to develop businesses with a commercial-business mindset. This KKS Service activity will be carried out from September to October 2020. The technique used to socialize innovations in the field of food processing technology to the public is through communicative learning through training activities. Efforts to empower the community in Omuto Village are carried out by providing guidance and transfer of knowledge. technical skills and how to process corn commodities into processed products in the form of home industries
