Abstract

Urolithiasis or kidney stones is a disease caused by urine sediment in the urinary tract. It can be observed histologically by investigating the presence of crystals and tissue damage such as degeneration hydropis, hemorrhage, and necrosis. The aim of this reseach is to prove the effect of ethanol extract of red gedi leaves (Abelmoschus manihot L) on histological of white rat kidney (Rattus norvegicus) urolithiasis model. This reseach used 15 rat devided into 5 groups. Group 1 was the normal group; group 2 was induced by ethylene glycol 0,75% and ammonium chloride 1 %; group 3,4 and 5 were a test group induced by ammonium chloride 1 %; group 3,4 and 5 were a test ammonium chloride 0.75 % and 1 % and ethanol extract of red gedi leaves with succesive doses of 10 mg/kgBW, 20 mg/kgBW, 40 mg/kgBW. The data were analyzed statistically using Kruskal wallis test and Mann-Whitney’s advanced test. The result showed that the group of red gedi leaf extract with doses 40 mg/kgBW statically has the best effect as antiurolithiasis on the white rats. As conclusion, extract of red gedi leaves can be used to urolithiasis.

Abstract

Irrational use of antibiotics can lead to health problems, especially bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Improper use can be affected by lack of knowledge of antibiotics use. The study aimed to examine the public knowledge level on antibiotics use in Malawili Village, Aimas District, Sorong Regency, and the influence of community characteristics on knowledge level. This research used a descriptive study with a crosssectional survey design, involving 104 respondents. The data were obtained by purposive sampling techniques using questionnaires. The research performed data analysis using univariate and bivariate with chisquare test. The results showed that the majority of respondents were indicated to have "Enough" category (58.7% or 61 out of 104 respondents) of knowledge level. Meanwhile, the characteristics of society did not affect the knowledge level on antibiotics use at significance values (sig.>0.1)

Abstract

Pain is a condition that indicates the body is experiencing tissue damage and inflammation. Pain can be managed with analgesics. One of the plants that is thought to have an analgesic effect is matoa leaf (Pometia pinnata J.R. Forst & G. Forst). This study was an experimental study using male white mice which were divided into 5 treatment groups, namely group I was given NaCMC as a negative control, group II was given ibuprofen as a positive control, and groups III, IV, and V were given EEDM with a successive dose of 200 mg /kgBB, 400 mg/kgBB, and 800 mg/kgBB. The test animals were induced with 1% acetic acid intraperitoneally after 30 minutes of oral administration of the test preparation. Observations were made by calculating the pain response marked by stretching for 180 minutes with an interval of 10 minutes. The research data were processed statistically using the One Way ANOVA test and the LSD follow-up test. The positive control group for the EEDM group at doses of 200 mg/kg, 400 mg/kg, and 800 mg/kg showed no significantly different results with a P>0,05. From the study results, it can be concluded that EEDM has an analgesic effect on male white mice with an effective dose of 800 mg/kgBB.
