Abstract

This study is intended to explore the visual configuration in such a form governance structure, the usefulness and meaning in conjunction with hue, and motion and visual properties of such a configuration on the Malangan mask. Theoretical results of this study may explain the relationship between visual dimensions and functions of visual arts in shaping the language of signs and meanings, which are expected to be generalized to a kind works of art and design transformation methods form the basis of a local character. This research combines qualitative approaches with a survey method. The main instrument in the form of pictures and recordings of physical configurations such visual mask. Supporting instrument in the form of interviews with actors, craftmen, and artists in Malangan mask at Kedungmonggo, Pakisaji District, Malang Regency. This study uses selected respondents porposive sampling. Data obtained from respondents compiled to obtain an overview of visual objects that represent the scope of the visual arts Malangan mask. Results of visual configuration, motion, space, and music derived from the analysis of the relationship between them, then interpreted through interviews, analyzed to obtain an overall picture configurations art, art movement, art performances (space), music (audio) of Malangan mask as cultural work local.

Abstract

The study of the golden section in the building facade in Kayutangan, Malang has a specific purpose, namely (1). Evaluate the proportion of building facade in Kayutangan, Malang based on the theory of the golden section and (2). Produce design recommendations of building facade at Kayutangan, Malang which proportionate and in accordance with the golden section. Data collection method using observations of the building facade on both sides of the corridor with a distance meter instrument, then the composition is described as a two-dimensional digitally. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the golden section proportion, followed by making a digital simulation, especially for building facade that is not in accordance with the proportion of the golden section. The results of this study indicate that the building facade in Kayutangan, Malang has a proportion of 10% of the width and height of the building according to the golden section and 90% are not in accordance with the golden section. The results of this study are expected to be recommendations for structuring the design and aesthetic improvement of the city, particularly in Kayutangan, Malang and can be a reference for those who want to do similar studies in other regions.Keywords: golden section, building facade

Abstract

The post occupancy evaluation (POE) of campus open space aimed to asses comfort space both physically and perceptionally. Open spaces choosen as case study are court and gazebo in front of rectorate building of Brawijaya University. This study combines qualitative approaches with a survey method. The research instruments are photos, questionnaires, and interviews. Respondents in this study were selected by purposive sampling. Data obtained from respondents were processed to obtain description of the behavior of open space users. Interpretation of the results was analyzed in order to obtain an overall description of the space efficiency for its users. The results obtained indicate that gazebo unable to accomodate users’ comfort of campuss open space of UB on privacy and perception aspects. Besides, interaction aspect of gazebo able to accomodate users’ comfort of campus open space of UB in good level (more than 50%), while orientation aspect able to accomodate it in medium level (50%). The court is unable to accomodate users’ comfort (less than 50%).Keywords: POE, open space, campus
