Abstract

Mathematical abilities that students must possess at the level of primary and secondary education must also be possessed by a student of teacher candidates who will teach mathematics. One of the abilities is an analogical reasoning ability. The main objectives of this research are: 1) To describe and analyze analogical reasoning ability of students of mathematics education at the State Islamic Universities (UIN) in Indonesia, 2) To know the differences of analogical reasoning abilities of students of mathematics education at several State Islamic Universities (UIN) in Indonesia. The study was conducted at 6 UINs in Indonesia with a sample of 203 5th semester students using a survey method. This study's results indicate: 1) Analogical reasoning ability in Mathematics Education students consisting of 6 UINs in Indonesia can be seen from the average value in each sample. The acquisition of the average value of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta students' analogical reasoning ability is the highest compared to the other 5 UINs with an average mathematical reasoning ability value of 65. 2. There is a difference in mathematics education students' analogical reasoning ability at the State Islamic Universities (UIN) in Indonesia.

Abstract

The critical thinking skill  is part of the 21st century competencies that students need to master. This study aims to analyze the effect of the application of the Argument Driven Inquiry with Scaffolding (ADIS) learning strategy on students' mathematical critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills measured in this study include the ability of students to formulate problems, provide reasons, make conclusions, and analyze arguments. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Design. The research was conducted at one of the Bekasi City Junior High Schools in the even semester of the 2019/2020 school year. Sampling using the cluster random sampling technique and data collection techniques using test instruments that have been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that the mathematical critical thinking skills of students taught with ADIS learning strategies were higher than students taught with conventional learning strategies. Therefore, the ADIS strategy can be used by teachers in learning mathematics at schools/madrasahs in an effort to improve mathematical critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Mathematical Critical thinking is one of  mathematical abilities that must be obtained by students. Critical thinking is one of the high order thinking processes that can make concepts in student knowledge.  Students with critical thinking in mathematics learning mostly do rational activities such as interpreting information based on a particular theoretical framework, linking theory with practice, making claims and justifying it, utilizing data in support of argumentation, making relations or relationships between various ideas, asking questions, evaluating knowledge, predict, describe something, analyze, synthesize, and categorize. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Concept-Based Learning Model on the critical thingking mathematical abilities.The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of Concept-Based Learning Model toward mathematics critical thinking ability. The method used in this research is quasi experiment by Randomize Control Group Post Test Only Design with cluster random sampling technique. Indicators of mathematics critical thinking skills measured in this study include providing simple explanations, building basic skills, concluding, making more explanations, and deciding an action. The results showed that the mathematics critical thinking ability of students in the experimental class for the five indicators that being analyze was higher than the ability of students in the control class. A fairly high difference in the indicator showed in give a simple explanation and concluding. and it means that the application of Concept-Based Learning Model significantly influences the  abilities  of students' mathematics critical thinking.

Abstract

AbstractThe main objectives of this study are: 1) describing and analyzing the mathematical generalization ability of mathematics education students at State Islamic University (UIN) in Indonesia, 2) investigating the differences in mathematical generalization abilities of mathematics education students across State Islamic University (UIN) in Indonesia. The study was conducted at 6 UIN in Indonesia with a sample of  5th semester students using the survey method. The results of this study indicate that: 1) The ability of mathematical generalizations thinking of Mathematics Education students from 6 state Islamic universities in Indonesia can be seen from the average value of each sample.  The average mathematical generalization of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University in Jakarta is higher high than the other 5 state Islamic universities, with the average value of  61.31. 2) There is no difference in the ability of mathematical generalization thinking among mathematics educations students of State Islamic University (UIN) in Indonesia.AbstrakTujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis kemampuan generalisasi matematika siswa pendidikan matematika di Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) di Indonesia, 2) menyelidiki perbedaan kemampuan generalisasi matematika siswa pendidikan matematika di Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) ) di Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilakukan di 6 UIN di Indonesia dengan sampel mahasiswa semester 5 menggunakan metode survei. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Kemampuan berpikir generalisasi matematika siswa Pendidikan Matematika dari 6 universitas Islam negeri di Indonesia dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata setiap sampel. Generalisasi matematika rata-rata dari Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah di Jakarta lebih tinggi daripada 5 universitas Islam negeri lainnya, dengan nilai rata-rata 61,31. 2) Tidak ada perbedaan kemampuan berpikir generalisasi matematika di kalangan mahasiswa pendidikan matematika Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) di Indonesia.  How to Cite : Fatra, M., Angraini, L. Abstract

Online learning policies serving as the answer to the world of education during the COVID-19 pandemic period raise some problems to students. They find it difficult to understand learning materials because the teacher's explanation is very limited, so many tasks and teachers cannot supervise the students. As a result, students are quickly getting bored with learning activities at home, they cannot directly meet their classmates; and this condition is getting worse due to the fact that their homes are less supportive to their learning activities. This research is aimed at studying the State Madrasah Tsanawiyah Students’ experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic era from March to July 2020. A descriptive qualitative analysis method was employed. The primary data were obtained from the results of observations and open questionnnaires sent to 42 the madrasah tsanawiyah students from Sidoarjo, Malang, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Aceh, and Padang Panjang. The secondary data were taken from online news about the distance learning. It was found that the distance learning for madrasah tsanawiyah students was troublesome experiences due to inadequate facility and infrastructures in the internet quota, smart phones, laptops, and also unsupporting home environment and improper the teaching techniques. However, some students were happy with this distance learning because it may give them new experiences, learning with a laptop or a mobile phone is exciting, it may improve the literacy in technology, it is flexible in terms of time, and it is not necessary for them to go to schools. It is recommended that the government improve the quality of the internet services, give more internet assistance quota, and hold training for the teachers on online learning.

Abstract

Cita-cita utama pemerintah menggunakan kurikulum K-13 adalah menciptakan generasi yang cerdas berpengatahuan, kompeten dan trampil. Studi ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS) siswa madrasah tsanawiyah dalam pembelajaran matematika setelah diberlakukannya kurikulum K-13. Studi ini difokuskan pada TIMSS Assessment framework yang terdiri atas empat materi matematik yaitu bilangan, aljabar, geometri, data dan peluang. Dimensi kognitif yang diukur meliputi kemampuan penerapan dan penalaran. Data penelitian ini berasal dari studi literatur tentang penerapan kurikulum K-13 dan survey yang melibatkan sebanyak 1.317 siswa madrasah tsanawiyah dari tujuh kota di pulau Jawa. Sampel tersebut berasal dari 439 Madrasah Tsanawiyah DKI Jakarta, Bandung, Serang, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Malang dan Surabaya. Analisis inferensial untuk menguji perbedaan antar kelompok data menggunakan uji ANAVA satu jalur. Data dari survey dan studi literatur dianalisis melalui tahapan restatemen, deskripsi dan interpretasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan tingkat keterampilan HOTS matematis siswa madrasah tsanawiyah. Hal ini mengacu pada hasil uji empiris menggunakan ANAVA satu jalur yang menunjukan nilai signifikansi perbedaan kemampuan HOTS matematis sebesar 0,048 < 0,05. Nilai rata-rata tertinggi untuk aspek penerapan diperoleh siswa madrasah Tsanawiyah Yogyakarta. Sedangkan untuk aspek penalaran nilai rata-rata tertinggi siswa dari Surabaya. Dua kemampuan HOTS tersebut masih tergolong rendah.  Tulisan ini menyarankan perlunya penelitian lanjutan untuk melihat secara khusus penerapan kurikulum K-13 di madrasah untuk dimungkinkannya suatu analisis komparatif.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan kesulitan-kesulitan apa yang dialami mahasiswa tadris matematika di UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung dan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor apa saja yang menyebabkan kesulitan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal integral. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Penelitian kepada 38 mahasiswa jurusan tadris matematika semester 3, dengan pengambilan subjek didasarkan pada 3 mahasiswa yang melakukan kesalahan semua soal, 5 mahasiswa yang salah dua soal dan 2 mahasiswa yang benar semua soal. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode tes dan wawancara pada mahasiswa. Tes yang diberikan berbentuk tes uraian dengan materi integral. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif naratif dengan menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 30% mahasiswa melakukan kesalahan prinsip, dan 23% melakukan kesalahan operasional. Faktor penyebab terjadi kesalahan mahasiswa adalah tidak memahami konsep, prinsip integral tak tentu dan integral tentu secara baik, serta kurangnya memahami konsep materi prasyarat seperti konsep turunan, operasi aljabar dan kurang teliti dalam melakukan operasi penyelesaian soal. Temuan ini menunjukkan perlunya pengajar menekankan materi konsep integral dan memberikan inovasi serta strategi pembelajaran yang tepat. Kata kunci: Integral; Kesulitan mahasiswa; Pandemi covid-19. AbstractThis study aims to describe the difficulties experienced by mathematics education students at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung and to find out what factors cause students' difficulties in solving integral problems. The type of research conducted is qualitative research with a case study approach. Research on 38 students majoring in mathematics tadris 3rd semester, with subject selection was based on 3 students who made mistakes in all the questions, 5 students who got two questions wrong and 2 students corrected all the questions. Data was collected by using the method of tests and interviews with students. The test given is in the form of a description test with indeterminate integral material. The data analysis technique used is a descriptive narrative using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that 30% of students made mistakes in principle, and 23% made operational errors. The factors that cause student errors are not understanding the concept, the principle of indeterminate integral and definite integral well, and the lack of understanding of prerequisite material concepts such as derivative concepts, algebraic operations, and lack of thoroughness in problem solving operations. This finding shows the need for teachers to emphasize integral concept material and provide innovations and appropriate learning strategies.Keywords: Integral; Student difficulty; Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

Leadership is an important topic in the world of scholarly research because of the significant role of leadership and very determinant for the success of higher learning institutions. This study aims to examine a problem faced by the Institute of Catholic Pastoral Ministry (STPK-IPI, Sekolah Tinggi Pastoral Katolik – Institut Pastoral Indonesia)in Malang. This research was carried out at the STPK-IPI Malang known as the first institution of this kind. It has become the parent-institution of twenty-three STPKs under a guidance of Indonesian government through the Directorate General of Catholic Community Guidance of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Despite its age and parent-like status, STPK-IPI Malang has failed to play a role model for other Catholic high learning institutions in Indonesia. . This study used a convergent parallel mixed-method design. It combined qualitative and quantitative research methods by mixing the two methods proporsionarlly. This study uses primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through questionnaires, direct observations, FGDs and in-depth interviews. Respondents include STPK leaders, directors of education, permanent lecturers, foundations, students and bishop of Malang. Secondary data were taken from previous studies, documents and online news. Statistical data processing using SPSS software, qualitative data were analyzed through the restatement, description and interpretation stages. This research found that the main difficulty of this high learning institution was the crisis of human resources. In particular, the quality of its leadership is poor. There are three elements of leadership: the Catholic Community Guidance that gives the license-coach, the Head of the STPK and the Foundation. These three elements have not functioned optimally, and there is no grand design for institutional development. As a result, the management and quality of STPK education is poor. This is shown by the acquisition of C accreditation, minimal publications, limited human resources and not being able to compete with other high learning institutions. This study recommends a transformation of leadership so that this Catholic high learning institution may slowly improve its performance and significantly develop into a competitive high learning catholic institution.

Abstract

AbstrakBerpikir lateral merupakan proses kreatif yang dilakukan seseorang dalam memecahkan masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis siswa berbakat, selama dan setelah diberikan strategi Heuristik-KR. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode single subject research (SSR) dengan desain A-B-A yang dilaksanakan di salah satu madrasah aliyah di wilayah Tangerang Selatan tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 3 siswa yang termasuk dalam kategori siswa berbakat. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes esay yang telah diuji validitas isi dan reliabilitasnya. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dengan penyajian data melalui grafik dan tabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis tertinggi untuk ketiga subjek diperoleh pada kondisi baseline 2 (A2). Kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis G1 dan G3 pada kondisi intervensi lebih rendah dari baseline 1 dan 2. Untuk G2, kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis pada kondisi baseline 2 lebih tinggi dari intervensi dan baseline 1. Dalam penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi Heuristik-KR yang terdiri dari tahapan membaca dan berpikir, mengeksplorasi dan merencanakan, memilih strategi, menemukan jawaban, serta merefleksikan dan memperluas cukup efektif. Strategi Heuristik-KP berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis pada indikator identifikasi ide, keterbukaan, pengembangan, fleksibilitas, orisinalitas, dan analisis fakta. AbstractLateral thinking occurs when students used a creative method to solve problems. This study aimed to analyze the mathematical lateral thinking skills of gifted students during, and after being given the Heuristic-KR strategy. This study used a single subject research (SSR) method with an A-B-A design which was carried out at one of the aliyah madrasas in the south Tangerang for the 2019/2020 academic year. The study involved 3 gifted students and use a descriptive test that had been tested using content validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by presenting data through graphs and tables. The results showed that the highest mathematical lateral thinking ability for the three subjects was obtained during baseline condition 2 (A2). The mathematical lateral thinking ability of G1 and G3 reached the lowest score in the intervention condition. For G2, the mathematical lateral thinking ability reached the highest score in the baseline 2. The study concluded that the Heuristic-KR strategy was quite effective, consisting of reading and thinking stages, exploring and planning, selecting a strategy, finding an answer, and reflecting and extending. The Heuristic- KP strategy affected the mathematical lateral thinking ability on the indicators of idea identification, openness, development, flexibility, originality, and facts analysis.
