Abstract

Second language learning engages many factors including cognitive and social factor as part of mental process in learning. This paper will discuss some factor that relates the learner in learning target language. The aim of the paper is to show that the factors are related each other in influencing the learning to develop their ability in learning process. The study will be conducted based on theoretical overview presented by prominent linguistic that is expected to explain the involved factors in learning process.

Abstract

The most frequent problem happen to the second English learners in written text are the difficulty and inappropriate use of noun phrases and applying the complex sentences in order to express their ideas in writing. Since writing relies heavily on grammatical features of tenses particularly simple present and simple past, it will help the students to use appropriate verb phrases in different tenses and appropriate cohesive devices including conjunction to sequence the event and link the idea of the topic in writing. The learners also have difficulty in adapting grammatical features in their writing particularly the tenses of simple present and simple past tenses. It may happen because of the influence of their first language.
