Abstract

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasite transmitted through female Anopheles mosquito bite. This disease is harmful because Plasmodium is known to be resistant to antimalarial drugs. The emergence of malaria resistance has raised concerns among researchers to look for any alternative antimalarial drugs. There are some plants potentially used as antimalarial drugs that should bewell-documented through scientific research. This study aimed to get to know plant species that has antimalarial activity in Kupang region. Method: This research applied qualitative descriptive method while using exploration method specifically in the sampling process. Every sample is then taken for preservation as herbarium and identified based on its morphological features using determination key handbook. The result showed that there are 17 species of antimalarial plant in 10 observational sites. Those species of antimalarial plants i.e. Tithonia diversifolia, Momordica charantia, Cyperus rotundus, Strychnos lingustrina, Andrographis paniculata, Callicarpa longifolia, Tinospora crispa, Piper betle, Plectranthus scutellarioides, Alstonia scholaris, Carica papaya, Amaranthus spinosus, Artocarpus champeden, Cassia siamea, Azadirachta indica, Helianthus annuus and Blumea balsamifera. Therefore, the availability of the plant species with antimalarial activity in Kupang needs to be explored and developed as an alternative approach for the society in treating Malarial diseases.

Abstract

IbM'sactivities at SD Muhammadiyah aim to improve the professionalism of Muhammadiyah elementary school teachers through the transfer of science and technology that is useful in improving the quality of education in Kabupaten Kupang in particular as well as national education in general. IbM activities focused on media development materials and teaching materials using PAIKEM learning model and PTK training aimed at teachers of Muhammadiyah elementary schools in various fields or subjects. Professionalism for teachers in SD Muhammadiyah I and SD Muhammadiyah II Kupang need to be improved in order to run the teaching learning process in accordance with national education standards so as to produce graduates of students competing with other schools and teachers can carry out their profession by conducting classroom action research. The materials chosen in the activities include the implementation of learning models, how to develop learning tools, and the development of instructional media. The methods applied in the form of lectures on all training materials, demonstrations, assignments to participants, discussion (question and answer), assessment and evaluation of the ability of participants in accordance with the material presented and followed by mentoring activities as a follow-up of training activities. The success of IbM activities can be seen from the increasing understanding of teachers in analyzing a need for teaching materials or teachers have a broad understanding and insight related to how to develop and develop contextual based teaching materials. The ability of teachers in preparing classroom action research can also be said to experience an improvement after the activities of IbM in SD Muhammadiyah Kupang.

Abstract

Abstract.  This study investigated a natural acid-base indicator which is extracted from plants in Kupang city. There are 14 plants that potential as a source of natural indicator for acid base titration, i.e, Kol Ungu (Brassica oleracea Capitata Group), Turi Merah flower (Sesbania grandiflora L. Pers), Belimbing Wuluh flower (Averhoa bilimbi L), Kaktus Merah fruit (Opuntia vulgaris Mill), Ruelia flower (Ruellia simplex), Flamboyan flower (Delonix regia), bugenvil flower (Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd.), Bayam Merah leaves (Amaranthus tricolor L.) Jamblang fruit (Syzygium cumini L.), Murbey fruit (Morus alba L.), Pinang fruit (Areca catechu L.), Sirih fruit (Piper betle L.), Kunyit (Curcuma longa Linn), and Nanas Kerang leaves (Rhoeo discolor). Plants extract shows a sharp color change in acid and base solution. Promising results as a natural indicator also shown in acid base titration which is have similar equivalent point to synthetic indicator. We can use these natural indicators as an alternative to synthetic indicator because they are found to be simple, very useful, cheap, easy to extract, accurate, and eco-friendly. Abstract

This study aimed to prove the existence of anti-plasmodial activity from Tinospora crispa (T. crispa) stem extracts and to determine the IC50 values as well as the best T. crispa stem extract concentration in inhibiting the growth of P. falciparum 3D7 strain in vitro. The degree of parasitemia was observed by counting the number of infected red blood cells in Giemsa stained blood films under a light microscope with a magnification of 1000x. The Plasmodium DNA concentration was measured using flow cytometryc with Propidium Iodide (PI) staining. Analysis of fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrophotometer showed that the methanol extracts of T. crispa stem contained tinocrisposide compound. From the quantitative test results of Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), it was obtained 0,22 % alkaloids that might contain compounds of berberine and palmatine. One way ANOVA statistical analysis showed that the degree of parasitemia and the concentration parasite DNA of treatment group of dose of 2,0mg/ml was significantly lower compared to the control group after 48 hours (p=0,001) and 72 hours (p=0,001) of incubation. The T. crispastem methanol extract has anti-plasmodium activity, with IC50 values between 0,27 mg/ml and 0,29mg/ml, and the effective dose to inhibit the growth of P. falciparum 3D7 strain is 2,0 mg/ml with reducing parasitemia degree by 47,12% and 56,83% after 72 hours of incubation. From this study shown the methanol extract of T. crispastem was able to reduce the parasitemia degree of P. falciparum 3D7 strain in vitro and could to be a potential candidate for anti malarias.Keywords: Antiplasmodium, methanol extract, T. crispa, Plasmodium falciparum

Abstract

In accordance with the paradigm of 21st century education, teachers are required to facilitate students with the learning process which addresses the improvement of students’ higher thinking skill. The community service which was conducted in  MTs Al Ikhlas Soe, East Nusa Tenggara was aimed at: 1) culturing as well as developing students’ literacy in school; 2) improving students’ capacity in literacy; 3) managing students’ knowledge and higher thinking skill, as considerable as 4) elevating teachers’ professionalism so that learning process can be more effective and efficient. The methods used were lecture, discussion, brainstorming, simulation, and assignment. The materials delivered were about the arrangement and development of literacy-oriented teaching materials. The product produced from the training was implemented in learning process on VII graders. This was aimed to observe whether there was an improvement gained after the training given. The participants of this community service were 13 teachers and 34 students of MTs Al Ikhlas Soe. The results showed that teachers’ skill in arranging teaching materials has been improved. Furthermore, students’ understanding about the concept or their knowledge related to the materials has been upgraded after experiencing the implementation of literacy-oriented learning.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the bond between the protein rbcL and D-Ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate by insilico. DNA sequences of the Mangrove Rhizophora mucronate rbcL gene DNA sequences from 7 different sources were obtained from NCBI for further alignment analysis using BioEdit software, phylogeny analysis using Mega6 software, molecular docking using PyRx software, preparation and visualization of docking results using Biovia Discovery Studio Visualizer software and analysis of the protein model quality based on the number of amino acid residues (Ramachandran plot analysis). The results of the docking molecular analysis showed interaction of 9 hydrogen bonds namely Asp203, Thr173, His294, Glu204, His327, Ser379, His298, Arg295, and Asn123 and 2 unfavorable bonds namely Lys177 and Lys175. This ligand and protein interaction complex was of good quality because the presence of amino acid residues in the most favored regions was greater than the amino acid residues in the disallowed regions outcomes

Abstract

ak satu tahun yang lalu Indonesia masih mengadakan pembelajaran daring akibat terjadinya pandemi corona. Selama pembelajaran daring terjadi peserta didik di dusun Grujugan mendapatkan pembelajaran yang berfokus pada pengerjaan soal pada buku tematik saja. Jika melihat dari kegiatan tersebut tentunya hanya aspek kognitif saja yang terpenuhi sedangkan aspek psikomotorik dan afektif belum terpenuhi. Sehingga hal ini menjadikan peneliti melakukan pengabdian masyarakat di dusun Grujugan. Tujuan pengabdian ini untuk memberikan pengembangan diri berbasis seni agar aspek psikomotorik dan afektif peserta didik selama masa pandemi tetap didapatkan. Mitra pengabdian pada KKN Dikmas ini adalah peserta didik kelas 4 dan 5. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan adalah metode pelatihan. Dimana peneliti memberikan contoh terhadap suatu karya yang harus dibuat lalu peserta didik dapat meniru atau membuat karya dengan tema sendiri. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa dengan mengadakan pengembangan diri berbasis seni yaitu menggambar dan mewarnai, pointilis, menggunting dan menempel, membuat celengan, mozaik, kreasi cap menggunakan bahan alam, tie dye, dan clay peserta didik dapat memenuhi aspek psikomotorik pada tingkatan naturalisasi yaitu membuat suatu produk dan aspek afektif yang terpenuhi ialah tingkatan menghargai yaitu ikut serta dalam pembuatan karya seni.

Abstract

Vegetasi mangrove merupakan komunitas tumbuhan yang hidup di zona pasang surut di sepanjang garis pantai dan dipengaruhi  oleh  kualitas  lingkungan.  Meningkatnya  kebutuhan  manusia  menyebabkan  banyaknya  hutan  mangrove  yang ditebang, diubah untuk berbagai kepentingan seperti pertambakan, pemukiman dan fasilitas–fasilitas pelabuhan.Teluk Kupang memiliki wilayah pesisir yang cukup kaya sumber daya, salah satunya adalah hutan mangrove.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui  jenis  dan nilai  kerapatan, frekwensi, dominansi  dan INP mangrove  di Teluk Kupang.  Pengambilan  data menggunakan metode Petak Contoh (Transect Line Plot) dengan menghitung jumlah spesies (pohon, anakan dan semai), jumlah  individu  masing-masing  spesies,    persentase  tutupan,  lingkar  batang  dan  menganalisis  untuk  mendapatkan  nilai kerapatan, frekwensi, dominansi dan INP(Indeks Nilai Penting). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada 4 (empat) lokasi pengamatan, ditemukan sebanyak 11 jenis mangrove. Adapun 11 jenis mangrove yang ditemukan adalah; Rhizopora apiculata, Rhizopora mucronata, Rhizopora stylosa, Burguiera gymnorrhiza, Osbornia octodanta, Avicennia officinalis, Avicennia marina, Scyphiphora  hydrophyllaceae,  Lumnitzera  racemosa,  Sonneratia  alba  dan  Aegiceras  corniculatum.  Jenis  mangrove  yang memiliki indeks nilai penting tertinggi untuk tingkatan pohon yaitu Rhizopora mucronata (INP :299,6) dan terendah adalah Rhizopora stylosa (INP : 18,5), untuk tingkatan pancang/anakan jenis mangrove yang memiliki indeks nilai penting tertinggi sekaligus terendah adalah Rhizopora apiculata (INP : 202 dan 39,62). Sedangkan untuk tingkatan semai, jenis yang memiliki indeks nilai penting tertinggi yaitu Soneratia alba (INP : 174) dan terendah adalah Burguiera gymnorrhiza dan Scyphiphora hydrophyllaceae (INP : 11,80).
