Abstract

The metacognitive skill is a competency that must be mastered by students of educational program so that they are able to empower this competency in their students later. The purpose of this study was to analyze the metacognitive skill profile of students of the Science Education program at the University of Trunojoyo, Madura-Indonesia. The research involved 110 students as the research subject. Data were collected using metacognitive awareness inventory then analysed using descriptive quantitative method. The results indicated that students’ metacognitive skill improved well (71.93%). Furthermore, the metacognitive skill in every component also enhanced well (64.53 - 75.81%), and the “debugging strategies” in this skill developed excellently (88.30%). To sum up, the metacognitive skill on students of science education study program at University of Trunojoyo Madura enhanced well.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan respons mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran berbasis Guided discovery pada mata kuliah Anatomi dan Fisiologi Makhluk Hidup. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif kuantitatif dengan sasaran sebanyak 46 mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan IPA semester IV tahun akademik 2018/2019 yang dilaksanakan pada perkuliahan Anatomi dan Fisiologi Makhluk Hidup. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memberikan respons positif terhadap pembelajaran yang telah dilakukan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa respons mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran berbasis Guided discovery pada mata kuliah Anatomi dan Fisiologi Makhluk Hidup termasuk dalam kategori kuat. Kata Kunci: aktivitas, respons, guided discovery Abstract This research aimed at describing the students’ response toward Guided discovery learning in Anatomy and Physiology of Organisms lecture. It included a quantitative-qualitative descriptive study which involved 46 students of Science Education Department on the 4th semester, in the academic year of 2018/2019 as the subjects. Findings obtained in this study indicated that students showed positive response toward the learning process. To conclude, the students’ response toward Guided discovery learning in Anatomy and Physiology of Organisms lecture can be categorized as strong criteria. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respons siswa SMP Kelas VIII terhadap media science comic pada materi sistem ekskresi manusia. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif. Media science comic yang digunakan untuk mengukur respons siswa telah dinyatakan valid oleh ahli. Penelitian ini dilakukan di UPTD SMPN 1 Banyuates dan UPTD SMPN 1 Ketapang. Data yang dihasilkan yaitu data respons siswa yang diperoleh dari angket. Hasil respons siswa terhadap media science comic pada materi sistem ekskresi manusia memperoleh persentase 80,7% dengan kategori baik. Sehingga pengembangan media science comic memperoleh respons baik bagi siswa. Abstract This study aims to determine the response of SMP class VIII students to science comic media on the material of the human excretory system. This research includes descriptive research. The science comic media used to measure student responses has been declared valid by experts. This research was conducted at UPTD SMPN 1 Banyuates and UPTD SMPN 1 Ketapang. The resulting data is student response data obtained from a questionnaire. The results of student responses to science comic media on the human excretory system material obtained a percentage of 80.7% with a good category. So that the development of science comic media gets a good response for students.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze students' prior knowledge of basic science subjects, especially in organ systems concepts in animals and humans. This research was conducted on the lecture of Basic Science toward 46 students in Science Education class. Data were collected using a diagnostic test consisting of 12 essay questions in the first meeting before the learning process was implemented. Furthermore, findings obtained in this study were analyzed using quantitative descriptive method. Findings of the study indicated that students’prior knowledge reached a low level, with 4.8 on the average score. From out of 46 students in this study, six students reached high prior knowledge score. In contrast, 40 students reached below a high level. It can be concluded that students do not have great prior knowledge. It should be stimulated continually in every initial learning process to comprehend the new concepts during learning activities easily.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the enhancement of students critical thinking in fungi concepts based on Science, Technology, and Society learning approach. The learning process involved a single class consisting of 30 students on the first grade of State Senior High School of 16 Surabaya as the subject of this study. One group pre-test and post-test design was used in the learning process to determine the enhancement of students critical thinking skill. The findings indicated that critical thinking skill on students boosted highly as the effect of the learning process. It can be concluded that Science, Technology, and Society learning approach is able to increase the students critical thinking skill in fungi concepts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa tiap indikator pada materi pemanasan global. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Tanjung Pademawu Pamekasan dengan subjek 20 siswa kelas VII SMP Tahun Ajaran 2019/2020. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VII Desa Tanjung Pademawu Pamekasan tergolong masih sangat rendah dengan kriteria persentase 70% sangat rendah, 20% rendah dan 10% sedang. Sedangkan persentase tiap indikator meliputi 40% menyimpulkan,  41% memberikan penjelasan sederhana, 46% memberikan penjelasan lebih lanjut, 75% membangun keterampilan dasar dan 43% mengatur strategi dan taktik.

Abstract

Google form merupakan platform yang sering digunakan saat pembelajaran daring maka tujuan utama penelitian ini yakni untuk memaparkan deskripsi hasil belajar siswa dengan bantuan aplikasi google form pada meteri sistem tata surya terhadap siswa kelas VII di SMPN 1 Larangan Pamekasan. Hasil penelitian terhadap keseluruhan sampel menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata memperoleh signifikan yang sangat besar yakni 86,75% dan berikut rincian hasil perolehan kriteria ketuntasan maksimum pada keseluruhan sampel yakni: 11 siswa memperoleh kriteria sangat baik, 6 siswa dengan kriteria baik, 3 siswa dengan kriteria cukup, dan 0 siswa memperoleh kriteria kurang serta dapat disimpulkan bahwa google form dapat memberikan hasil yang positif terhadap perolehan tes siswa dan dapat membantu tugas guru dalam mengevaluasi pembelajaran.Kata Kunci: Google Form, Hasil Belajar, Sistem Tata Surya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persentase pemahaman konsep siswa SMP pada materi tata surya. Penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian campuran (mix methods) dengan desain sequential explanatory dan dilaksanakan di MTs Al-Falah Kecamatan Socah Kabupaten Bangkalan dengan populasi semua siswa kelas VII Tahun Ajaran 2019/2020. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 20 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Pengumpulan data mengunakan teknik tes untuk persentase pemahaman konsep dan dokumentasi. Indikator pemahaman konsep yang digunakan dalan penelitian yaitu menafsirkan, mencontohkan, mengklasifikasikan, menyimpulkan, dan menjelaskan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Persentase pemahaman konsep siswa SMP masih tergolong rendah, (2) Hasil persentase tertinggi yaitu pada indikator mengklasifikasi sebesar 26,62% sedangkan persentase terendah yaitu pada indikator menafsirkan sebesar 11,51%.Dan hasil persentase pemahaman konsep siswa pada tiap soal yang tertinggi pada soal nomor 1 yaitu 85% dan yang paling rendah terdapat pada soal nomor 7 dan 8 yaitu 15%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persentase kemampuan berpikir kritis dan tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi pemanasan global dengan soal berbasis pendekatan socioscientific issues (SSI). Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah mix method design dengan desain penelitian explanatory mix method design. Tes diberikan melalui google form, dikarenakan pada saat pengambilan data terdapat pandemi virus Covid-19. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa-siswi kelas VII SMPN 06 Gresik, sedangkan sampel penelitian diambil sebanyak 20 orang dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Sedangkan sampel yang digunakan saat melakukan wawancara sebanyak 5 orang dengan memakai rumus standar deviasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) berdasarkan standar deviasi persentase kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kategori tinggi 5%, kategori sedang 85%, dan kategori sangat rendah 10%. 2) Tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa rata-rata tergolong sedang.

Abstract

Students as pre-service science teachers have to reach concept mastery during learning process, since it includes in a teachers’ pedagogical competence that has to be attained well. Although this current circumstance is under covid-19 pandemic, however distance learning should provide an effective situation that can gauge students’ concept mastery. This study aims at evaluating pre-service science teachers’ concept mastery in the topic of biodiversity during distance learning under circumstance of covid-19 pandemic. The research included in a descriptive quantitative study. The distance learning was conducted in the lecture of bioconservation during odd semester, on September 2020 toward 50 students in the year academic of 2017. Data were collected using an online test consisting of 10 multiple choice questions. Findings indicates that the pre-service science teachers’ concept mastery reached a score of 53.0 in which was categorized as moderate criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the concept mastery has to be enhanced continually in every learning process in order pre-service science teachers are able to comprehend science concepts and enhance this mastery respectively.
