Abstract

In this study, research on the use of the External Magnetic Field method – Tungsten Inert Gas was done to determine the effect of welding arc compression on the quality of AISI 304 thin plate weld. The welding process was performed using autogenous welds. In this study, an external magnetic field was generated by placing a magnetic solenoid around the TIG welding torch. Enabling this electromagnetic field is done dynamically using a microcontroller. Welding parameters used are welding current 100; 105; 110 A and welding speed 1.6; 1.8; 2.05 mm/s. The results of this study showed that EMF-TIG welding can produce a more uniform bead width along the weld line with a standard deviation of 0.08 compared with conventional TIG welding of 0.12. Increased welding speed of  2.05 mm/s causes no effect on the addition of an external magnetic field to the width of the weld bead. The current parameters are 105 A with a speed of 1.6; 1.8; 2.05 mm/s resulted in compression of the top bead width by 0.87; 0.61; 0.1 mm. The welding parameters with a current of 105 A and welding speed of 1.6 mm/s have a larger upper bead compression effect of 0.84 mm compared to 110 A currents of 0.38 mm. Moreover, the D/W ratio obtained under an external magnetic field was higher than without magnetic.

Abstract

Kekurangan akan air minum dialami wilayah Kabupaten Karanganyar khususnya wilayah dibarat Sungai Bengawan Solo. Dengan sifat tanah yang porous dan berbutir kasar maka air hujan tidak dapat tersimpan dengan baik dalam tanah. Sehingga pada waktu musim kemarau, wilayah Kabupaten Karanganyar di barat Sungai Bengawan Solo mengalami kekurangan air bersih. Hal ini salah satunya dapat ditanggulangi dengan adanya pemanfaatan air tanah. Usaha yang paling tepat dalam mengatasi krisis air bersih khususnya di Desa Plesungan Kecamatan Gondang rejo yaitu dengan cara pembuatan sumur dalam. Kapasitas debit air yang dihasilkan dengan adanya pembuatan sumur dalam di Desa Plesungan yaitu sebesar 1,27 liter/detik. Kualitas air tanah yang dihasilkan di Desa Plesungan memenuhi syarat – syarat umum air bersih. Dengan adanya pembuatan sumur dalam tersebut sangat dirasakan manfaatnya oleh pengguna karena sekarang pengguna tidak lagi kesusahan dalam mendapatkan air bersih. Sebelumnya pengguna harus ngangsu/ambil air di sumur tetangga yang tidak kering jaraknya cukup jauh. Pemanfaatan air tanah masih dapat dikembangkan guna peningkatan pelayanan air bersih kepada masyarakat antara lain menambah titik – titik pengeboran baru. Usaha pelestarian air tanah di Desa Plesungan disamping dengan cara reboisasi atau penghijauan, perlu juga dilakukan adanya konsep 5R yang  meliputi reduce (menghemat), reuse (menggunakan), recovery (memfungsikan), recycle (mengelolah), dan recharge (mengisi).

Abstract

Procurement method is one of the steps or sub-sistems in construction project. There are some procurement methods expanding in Indonesia, for example : Conventional method, Design / Build method, Turnkey method and Management Construction method. Accuracy in choosing procurement method the will have an effect on in execution of construction project: speed of execution, cost, quality, involvement from every party. This research aims to analyse factors influencing election of procurement method in construction project in Indonesia. The gathering data has done by spreading questionnaire to Jakarta, Semarang, Solo, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta and Surabaya. From questionnaires which were returned, 30 questionnaire could be processed. Result of data analysis in this research indicate that factor influencing election of qonventional method are quality level, point of responsibility and certainty. Factor influencing election of Design I Build method are quality level, price competition and complexity. Factor influencing election of Turnkey method are certainty, risk avoidance and flexibility. Factor influencing election of Management Construction method are quality level, price competition and point of responsibility. And factor influencing election of procurement method in general are quality level, certainty and price competition

Abstract

Plug welding is one of the welding methods of joining material with filling techniques using filler metal. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in electrical current and depth of artificial penetration of Ø8 mm holes on the failure mode and tensile load bearing capacity of dissimilar metal plug welding connections between SS 304 series stainless steels and SS 400 series carbon steels. used are 200, 215 and 230 A while the variation in depth of artificial penetration with diameter of Ø8 mm is 0, 1 and 2 mm. The results of this study indicate that the variation of the welding current without any artificial penetration (0 mm) results in an interfacial failure failure mode. While the existence of artificial penetration with a depth of 1-2 mm produces pull out failure mode. The results of the shear tensile test showed that the highest welding strength was obtained at a variation of 230 A with a hole depth of 1 mm at an average of 12.6 kN while in the hole depth parameters 0 and 2 mm the weld strength values ​​were obtained at a mean of 5.6 and 7.8 kN.
