Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan jati diri masyarakat Wewewa, Sumba Barat Daya, NTT, yang termanifestasi dalam kearifan lokal pada tuturan lisan Oka. Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnopragmatik. Artinya, untuk memahami jati diri masyarakat Wewewa, terikat konteks situasi dan konteks budaya. Konteks situasi bertujuan menggali apa yang terjadi, entitas yang terlibat dalam kegiatan tersebut, keadaan, di mana, dan kapan kegiatan itu terjadi. Sementara konteks budaya mengacu pada nilai yang dianut oleh masyarakat. Objek yang dikaji adalah gambaran jati diri masyarakat Wewewa yang tercermin dalam tuturan lisan Oka. Sumber data primer adalah tuturan-tuturan lisan Oka. Sumber data primer ini diperoleh dari penutur yang menuturkan tradisi lisan Oka. Sumber data primer dijaring peneliti dari warga masyarakat Wewewa berdasarkan wawancara (percakapan etnografis). Sementara sumber data sekunder diperoleh peneliti dari dokumen-dokumen yang berkaitan langsung dengan tradisi lisan Oka. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri. Metode pengumpulan data penelitian ini adalah melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Metode analisis data yakni padan ekstralingual yaitu metode analisis yang digunakan untuk menghubungkan masalah bahasa dengan hal yang berada di luar bahasa. Sementara teknik analisis data yaitu transkripsi data, penerjemahan gloss data, seleksi data, identifikasi data, klasifikasi data, dan menganalisis serta menginterpretasi data sehingga dapat dilaporkan pada bagian pembahasan data. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, peneliti dapat menyimpulkan bahwa dalam tuturan tradisi lisan Oka, ditemukan jati diri masyarakat Wewewa yang termanifestasi dalam tuturan tradisi lisan Oka.Kata Kunci: Tradisi Lisan, Kearifan Lokal, Jati Diri.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive qualitative research with the approach of Pragmasemantic theory and Speech Act theory. Pragmasemantic theory is basically a theory used to study the use of language based on meanings that take into account the intralingual and extralingual contexts. Mean while, speech act theory is essentially a theory that wants to explain that each utterance always contains three elements, namely locution, illocution, and perlocution. The purpose of this study is (a) to describe the language functions that can be used to campaign for Covid-19 deployment control, (b) describe vocabulary that has touch power and can be used to campaign for Covid-19 deployment control, (c) describe language slogans that can used to campaign for Covid-19 deployment control, and (d) describe persuasive language forms that can be used to campaign for Covid-19 deployment control. Research data sources are students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, S1 and S2 programs which can be reached via online media, email or WA. Research data in the form of words, phrases, sentences that show the function of language, vocabulary that has the power of touch, slogans that can encourage, persuasive language that can persuade speech partners compiled by students. Data collection techniques are carried out by sending instruments via email or WA, then students are asked to fill out and send back to researchers. The collected data is then inventoryed and codified to determine incoming data that is suitable for analysis. The analysis techniques are (1) identifying data, (b) classifying data, (c) interpreting data with the intention of being able to interpret Covid-19 ways of controlling, and (d) preparing reports in the form of journal articles.

Abstract

Abstract This research was aimed at resolving two problems: (1)What Indonesian Language subject matters are appropriate for the students of non-Indonesian Language major? (2) What kind of instructional method is appropriate the students of non-Indonesian major? The subjects of this research are 100 students of non-Indonesian Language major, who have taken the Indonesian Language course at the Sanata Dharma University. The result of this research is as follows: (1)most of the 100 students have the opinion that the Indonesian Language course should be emphasized more on the lesson on writing scientific compositions, and (2)the instructional method used should give the students ample opportunity to conduct individual learning and to do exercise. Abstract

Masyarakat Jawa memiliki perspektif tersendiri mengenai Bahasa nonverbal (BN) karena latar belakang budayanya. Kajian BN ini menggunakan teori etnopragmatik dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data adalah warga masyarakat Umbul Harja, Yogyakarta. Data berupa tuturan yang didukung BN. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mendeskripsikan wujud BN, fungsi BN, dan makna pragmatik BN. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan lewat observasi, wawancara, dan perekaman. sedang analisis data melalui langkah identifikasi data, klasifikasi, dan interpretasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Wujud BN bahasa Jawa meliputi bahasa dinamis yang berupa gerakan kepala dan bagaian-bagiannya, gerakan tangan dan bagian-bagiannya; wujud BN statis meliputi postur tubuh, warna kulit, warna rambut, bentuk hidung, bentuk bibir, dan status social. (2) Fungsi BN adalah untuk menggerakkan, menyetujui, menolak,  mengkritik, menyuruh, meminta, menjaga penampilan,  memberi penekanan atas kepuasan, memberi ucapan selamat jalan, menunjukkan status sosial, dan menjaga kehormatan. (3) Makna pragmatik BN dinamis mencakup persetujuan, perintah halus, penolakan tidak langsung, penolakan langsung, senyuman lamis. Di pihak lain, BN statis makna pragmatiknya adalah menunjukkan status sosial, menjaga penampilan , memberi kritik secara tidak langsung, dan menyampaikan pujian.  Kata kunci: bahasa nonverbal, pragmatik, konteks, etnopragmatik  JAVANESE COMMUNITY PERSPECTIVES ON THE USE OF NONVERBAL LANGUAGE: A CASE STUDY OF ETNOPRAGMATICS AbstractJavanese people have their own perspectives on Non-verbal Language (NvL) because of their cultural backgrounds. This NvL study uses the ethnopragmatic theory in qualitative descriptive methods. Data sources are residents of the East Celeban community, Umbul Harja, Yogyakarta. Data are in the form of speech supported by NvL. The purpose of the study is to describe the form of NvL, the function of NvL, and the pragmatic meaning of NvL. Data are collected through observation, interviews, and recording. The data analysis steps include data identification, classification, and interpretation. The results of the study show that (1) the manifestation of the Javanese NvL includes dynamic languages, including head movements and parts and hand movements and parts. Static NvL manifestations include body posture, skin color, hair color, nose shape, lip shape, and social status; (2) NvL functions include moving, approving, refusing, criticizing, ordering, asking, maintaining appearance, emphasizing satisfaction, saying goodbye, showing social status, and maintaining honor; and (3) pragmatic meaning of dynamic NvL includes approval, subtle commands, indirect rejection, direct rejection, and dynamic smiles. Meanwhile, the static NvL pragmatic meaning is showing social status, maintaining appearance, giving criticism indirectly, and expressing praise. Keywords: nonverbal language, pragmatics, context, ethnopragmatics

Abstract

This article discusses the function of language and pragmatic meaning in social media to combat Covid-19. Theoretical references used are ethnopragmatics. Ethnographic studies basically examine language from a cultural aspect. Cultural aspects include knowledge, behavior, and artifacts. Meanwhile, pragmatics is a study of language use on the basis of context. This research uses data sources from Instagram, Facebook, WA, and email. Research data in the form of language use in social media above. Data from Instagram and Facebook are downloaded from the internet, while data from email is collected through the direction of researchers with guidance on the instrument. Data collection techniques are done through reading and taking notes. Concrete data analysis techniques are carried out through data identification, data classification, data interpretation, and reporting in the form of journal articles. The findings of research on language subfunctions include asking, inviting or influencing, being sarcastic, motivating and criticizing, and saying thank you. Meanwhile, the pragmatic meaning used in social media includes indirectly advising,  persuading, indirectly reminding, subtly insinuating, inviting, complaining, and give advice.

Abstract

The study aims to describe a strategy for improving the student learning motivation with a learning cycle model in Indonesian literary subjects. Studies are conducted using qualitative descriptive methods. And then data was collected using observation methods, and interviews. The objective of observation is students' activities in the learning process in the Indonesian literature history class at the sanata dharma university. Interviews were conducted to get some information that was not obtained from observation The data obtained is compiled by deciphering notes, summarizing and selecting data that matches the purpose of the research. Research shows that the learning cycle is one of those strategies to improve the motivation to study in a course on the history of Indonesian literature.

Abstract

The research focused on nonverbal language (NvL) of Javanese people in Indonesia who spoke the first Javanese language and the second language Indonesian using an ethnopragmatic approach. The purpose of research was to describe the perception of the Javanese community on the use of NvL, both dynamic and static NvL. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation of people who were communicating, interviews with resource persons, and recording as supporting techniques for data collection. Data were analyzed by steps; data identification, classification, and interpretation. The results of research have theoretical implications. If aspects of local wisdom such as those possessed by the Javanese people are preserved, it will be able to provide benefits to the preservation of culture that has been passed down through generations in Javanese society. Such conditions will be able to illustrate that the community’s perspective on Javanese culture is still well maintained from the past until now.

Abstract

This research describes the pragmatic meaning of verbal and nonverbal language of Sundanese people in Sindangkasih District, Ciamis Regency, West Java. This research is a qualitative research using ethnopragmatics. That is, verbal and nonverbal politeness of Sundanese people can be done through speech acts that use kinesthetic nonverbal language (facial, gestural, and postural). The data source of this research is routine activities carried out by Sundanese people in Sindangkasih Subdistrict. The data in this study are verbal and nonverbal languages that contain politeness. The technique of collecting data in this study was to adapt the ethnographic method and use the method of listening. The data analysis technique of this study uses a flow model consisting of data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. The results showed that the pragmatic meaning of verbal and nonverbal politeness of Sundanese people was manifested through kinesthetic nonverbal language, namely nonverbal facial language (facial expressions / facial expressions); gestural (eye movements, head movements, and hand movements); and postural (movements of all limbs, such as bowing, standing upright, leftward, and rightward).Keywords: Verbal language, nonverbal language, and politeness

Abstract

Abstrak This article aims to describe the steps of implementing environmental learning models in learning creative writing fable material and describing its effectiveness. This research is a type of research mix research using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods. Data collection techniques using observation methods, questionnaires, and tests. Through research can be known measures implementing environmental learning model in learning creative writing fable material include: (1) environmental exploration, (2) reporting on the results of environmental exploration, (3) determining themes, figures, background, moral messages, and other elements of builders, (4) making the framework according to structure, (5) developing the skeleton into the text fable, (6) editing fable text, and (7) publication of fable. Fable text analysis and test results show that the fable text written by a student group using environmental learning models has good quality in terms of content, organization, vocabulary, linguistic, and writing. The average group of students who use environmental learning models in writing fable 85.58, while the group of students using conventional models is 76.52. It provides ample evidence that an effective environmental learning model is used in learning to write fable rather than conventional models that are commonly performed.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of guided training techniques in learning creative writing through whatsapp media during the corona pandemic (covid-19). The population in this study were students of the Indonesian language and literature education study program, Sanata Dharma University totaling 17 people who took creative writing classes. The method used in this research is experiment. Researchers use quasi-experimental methods or pre-experimental design. The experimental design used in this study is one-group pretest-posttest design. Researchers only use one group without requiring a comparison group. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used in this study is descriptive statistics. Based on the results of the study note that the learning of creative writing using guided training techniques through whatsapp media is carried out according to the principles and characteristics of interactive learning. Then there are differences in the average value between pretest and posttest. Posttest value is greater than pretest (75.05> 66.58). This shows that the use of guided training techniques in learning creative writing through whatsapp media is effective. Keyword: effectiveness, guided training techniques, whatsapp media, creative writing  AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan teknik latihan terbimbing dalam pembelajaran menulis kreatif melalui media whatsapp. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa program studi pendidikan bahasa dan sastra Indonesia, Universitas Sanata Dharma berjumlah 17 orang yang mengikuti kelas menulis kreatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen. Peneliti menggunakan metode eksperimen semu atau pre-Experimental design. Desain eksperimen yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini yaitu one-group pretest-posttest design. Peneliti hanya memakai satu kelompok tanpa memerlukan kelompok pembanding. Sementara itu, teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah statistik deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pembelajaran menulis kreatif menggunakan teknik latihan terbimbing melalui whatsapp dilakukan sesuai prinsip pembelajaran interaktif. Kemudian terdapat perbedaan nilai rata-rata antara pretes dan postes. Nilai postes lebih besar daripada pretes (75,05 > 66,58). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan teknik latihan terbimbing dalam pembelajaran menulis kreatif melalui media whatsapp efektif. Kata kunci: efektifitas, teknik latihan terbimbing, media whatsapp, menulis kreatif
