Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan prestasi belajar operasi hitung bilangan bulat siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Paliyan 4 Kecamatan Paliyan Kabupaten Gunungkidul melalui media visual interaktif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari 2015. Subjek penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas 4 yang berjumlah 20 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui observasi, tes tulis, angket, dan dokumentasi.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media visual interaktif dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan prestasi belajar operasi hitung bilangan bulat siswa kelas 4.

Abstract

A Community Service activity entitled “Diffusion of Innovations of Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education to Mathematics Teachers of Junior High School (SMP) in Sleman Regency through Lesson Study” aims at diffusing Innovations of Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia: PMRI) to Mathematics Teachers of SMP in Sleman Regency who are actively participating in SubjectBased Teachers Group (Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran: MGMP) of Mathematics. The diffusion is conducted through Lesson Study. Specifically, this PPM activity aims at improving understanding of mathematics teachers as participants on excellences of PMRI and Lesson Study and increasing teachers’ willingness to implement PMRI in the Lesson Study format. Objects of the study were 25 mathematics teachers of SMP in Sleman Regency actively participating in MGMP. The first activity was socialization on PMRI and Lesson Study. It was conducted on July 12, 2012 in the Mathematics Education Laboratory and was joined by 25 participants. The second activity was in a workshop on Development of Learning Tools and the implementation of the plan phase which was conducted on July 26, 2012 in the Mathematics Education Laboratory with 25 participants. Meanwhile, the third activity was the implementation of the do and see phase conducted on August 9, 2012 at SMP Muhammadiyah III Depok Sleman with 25 participants. In the beginning and the end of the activity, all participants were given written questions to reveal their understanding on PMRI and Lesson Study. In the end of the activity, questions were added about advantages of PMRI and Lesson Study. All participants of the activity stated that PMRI and Lesson Study are very advantageous for students and teachers. All of them also committed to implement PMRI in the Lesson Study format. Considering the results above, it can be concluded that this PPM activity is successful to improve the understanding of mathematics teachers as participants on excellences of PMRI and Lesson Study and also works to increase their willingness to implement PMRI in the Lesson study format. In addition, all participants also hope on the follow-up of this activity. Therefore, Department of Education, Youth and Sport of Sleman Regency and UNY (Yogyakarta State University) need to establish cooperation to facilitate the implementation of PMRI in the Lesson Study format for mathematics teachers of SMP in Sleman Regency.Keywords: realistic mathematics education, and mathematics lesson study

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh pendekatan contextual teaching and learning (CTL) dengan setting kooperatif tipe kancing gemerincing terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis, kepercayaan diri, dan prestasi belajar matematika siswa SMP. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian eksperimen semu dengan dua kelompok yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Untuk melihat pengaruh perlakuan terhadap ketiga variabel dependen secara simultan, digunakan uji statistik Multivariate Analysis of Variance (Manova), sedangkan untuk menganalisis pendekatan manakah yang lebih unggul terhadap masing-masing variabel dependen, digunakan uji statistik Independent Sample T-test. Hasil penelitian pada taraf signifikan 5% menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh pendekatan CTL dengan setting kooperatif tipe kancing gemerincing terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis, kepercayaan diri, dan prestasi belajar matematika pada siswa SMP. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan, pembelajaran matematika menggunakan pendekatan CTL dengan setting kooperatif tipe kancing gemerincing lebih unggul daripada pendekatan konvensional dalam hal kemampuan komunikasi matematis, kepercayaan diri, dan prestasi belajar matematika pada siswa SMP.Kata Kunci: contextual teaching and learning, kancing gemerincing (talking chips), komunikasi matematis, percaya diri, dan prestasi belajar matematika. Effect of CTL Approach in Cooperative Setting of Talking Chips Type on Junior High School Student’s Mathematical Communication Skill, Self-Confidence, and Mathematics Learning Achievement AbstractThis study aims to describe the effect of contextual teaching and learning (CTL) approach in cooperative setting of talking chips type on junior high school student’s mathematical communication skill, self-confidence, and mathematics learning achievement. This study was a quasi-experimental research with two groups, experiment and control group. To test the effect of treatment on all of the dependent variables simultaneously, the data were analyzed using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (Manova), while to compare the superior learning approach on each dependent variable, the data will be analyzed using Independent Sample T-test. The results of the study, using significant level 5%, showed that the CTL approach in cooperative setting of talking chips type has an effect on junior high school student’s mathematical communication skill, self-confidence, and mathematics learning achievement. Based on the analysis result, it can be concluded that the CTL approach in cooperative setting of talking chips type was more superior than the conventional learning approach in terms of junior high school student’s mathematical communication skill, self-confidence, and mathematics learning achievement.Keywords: contextual teaching and learning, talking chips, mathematical   communication, self- iconfidence, and mathematics learning achievement.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) dan Team-Assisted Individualization (TAI) dalam pendekatan penemuan terbimbing pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar ditinjau dari prestasi belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan kepercayaan diri siswa, dan membandingkan keefektifan antara kedua model pembelajaran tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Populasi mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 11 Yogyakarta dan sampel diambil dua kelas secara acak dari 4 kelas yang ada. Analisis univariat dengan statistik uji one sample t-test dan uji paired sample t test pada taraf signifikansi 5% dilakukan untuk menguji keefektifaan model pembelajaran. Uji Multivariat Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) dilakukan untuk membandingkan keefektifaan kedua model pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan TAI dalam pendekatan penemuan terbimbing pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar masing-masing efektif ditinjau dari ketiga variabel terikat. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan prestasi belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis antara kelompok model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan TAI, namun tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan jika ditinjau dari kepercayaan diri siswa. Cooperative learning using a guided discovery approach viewed from the learning achievement, critical thinking ability, and self-confidenceAbstractThis study aimed to describe the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model of Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) and Team-Assisted Individualization (TAI) types using the guided discovery approach in learning polyhedra viewed from the learning achievement, critical thinking ability, and self-confidence of the students, and compare the effectiveness of both learning models. This study was quasi-experimental. The research population comprised four classes of eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 11 (Junior High School) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and the sample of two classes was established randomly from the four classes. Univariate analysis with statistical one-sample t-test and paired sample t-test at a significance level of 5% was carried out to test the effectiveness of the learning model. The Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) test was performed to compare the effectiveness of the two learning models. The results showed that the cooperative learning model of STAD and TAI types using the guided discovery approach on the material of polyhedra respectively effective in terms of the three dependent variables. The results also showed that there were significant differences in learning achievement and critical thinking skills between the cooperative learning model of STAD and TAI types groups, but there were no significant differences in terms of students’ self-confidence.

Abstract

Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan Pendekatan Saintifik, mendeskripsikan keefektifan Pendekatan PMRI, dan mendeskripsikan manakah yang lebih efektif diantara Saintifik dan PMRI ditinjau dari prestasi, minat, dan percaya diri. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Babadan Ponorogo Jawa Timur Indonesia dan secara acak terpilih kelas VIIB dan VIIC sebagai sampel. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah tes dan non-tes, dengan instrumen meliputi soal tes prestasi, angket minat dan percaya diri. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji t dan Hotelling’s Trace. Hasil penelitian pada taraf signifikansi 0,05 menunjukkan bahwa Pendekatan Saintifik efektif ditinjau dari prestasi, minat, dan percaya diri. Pendekatan PMRI efektif ditinjau dari prestasi dan percaya diri, tetapi tidak efektif ditinjau dari minat. Saintifik dan PMRI sama-sama efektif ditinjau dari prestasi dan percaya diri, akan tetapi ditinjau dari minat Saintifik lebih unggul daripada PMRI.Kata kunci: pendekatan Saintifik, pendekatan PMRI, prestasi, minat, percaya diri The Comparison of the Effectiveness of Scientific and PMRI Approaches Based on the Achievement, Interest, and Self-Confidence of Students of Grade VII AbstractThis quasi-experimental research aims to describe the effectiveness of Scientific Approach, describe the effectiveness of PMRI approach, and describe which is more effective between of Scientific and PMRI Approaches in terms of the achievement, interest, and self-confidence. The population in this research were students of class VII SMPN 2 Babadan Ponorogo, East Java, Indonesia, and randomly selected VIIB and VIIC classes as a sample. The data collection techniques were a test and non-test, the instrument covers about mathematics achievement tests, questionnaires for students’ interest and self-confidence. The data were analysed using the t test and the Hotelling's Trace test. The results show that at the significance level of 0.05 the Scientific Approach is effective in terms of students’ achievement, interest, and self-confidence, while the PMRI Approach is effective in terms of learning achievement and self-confidence, but it is not effective in terms of interest. The Scientific and PMRI Approaches are equally effective in terms of learning achievement and self-confidence, but in terms of interest the Scientific Approach is superior to the PMRI Approach.Keywords: Scientific Approach, PMRI Approach, mathematics achievement, interest, self-confidence

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kategori dan aspek kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan minat belajar siswa, peningkatan minat belajar, dan menganalisis pembelajaran yang lebih baik antara pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dengan soal open ended dan pendekatan CTL ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan minat belajar siswa SMP. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu, dengan rancangan pretest-posttest non-equivalent group design. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Miri, Kabupaten Sragen, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia, dan diambil secara acak dua kelas sebagai sampel penelitian. Instrumen pengumpulan data meng­gunakan tes dan angket. Untuk meng­analisis kategori dan aspek kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan minat belajar digunakan analisis descriptives statistic, untuk menganalisis peningkatan minat belajar digu­nakan uji t-Paired pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Selanjutnya, untuk membandingkan pembelajaran yang lebih baik antara pendekatan CTL menggunakan soal open ended dengan pendekatan CTL, data diana­lisis dengan menggunakan MANOVA yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji t independent untuk menentukan pendekatan yang lebih baik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kategori kemampuan berpikir kreatif pada kelas CTL dengan  open ended berada pada kategori tinggi, pada kelas CTL berada pada kategori sedang, untuk kategori minat belajar, siswa di kedua kelas berada pada kategori tinggi, kategori aspek kemampuan berpikir kreatif untuk kedua kelas memiliki presentase tertinggi pada aspek kelancaran, minat belajar siswa untuk kedua kelas meningkat secara signifikan, dan pendekatan CTL menggunakan soal open ended lebih baik daripada pendekatan CTL ditinjau dari aspek kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa, sedangkan pendekatan CTL menggunakan soal open ended tidak lebih baik daripada pendekatan CTL ditinjau dari minat belajar siswa. An analysis of creative thinking ability and learning interest of students of junior high school in solving open ended problem with CTL approach AbstractThis research aimed to analyze the categories and aspects of creative thinking ability and in student learning interest, the increase of students learning interest, and the better learning between CTL approach using open ended questions with CTL approach in terms of the ability to think creatively and interest in learning of students of Junior High School. This research was a quasi-experimental research with pretest-posttest non-equivalent comparison-group design. The research population comprised all year VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Miri, Sragen Regency, Indonesia. From the population, two classes were randomly selected as the research sample. The instruments used were in the form of creative thinking ability tests and questionnaires for students’ interest in learning mathematics. To analyze the categories and aspects of creative thinking abilities and interest in learning, descriptives statistical analysis was used, to analyze the increase of students’ interest, the data were analyzed using paired t-test at 5% significance level. As for comparing better learning between CTL approach using open ended questions with CTL approach, the data were analyzed using MANOVA followed by t-test independent to determine which approach was better. The results showed that the category of creative thinking abilities in the classroom CTL using open ended questions in the high category, while in the CTL approach class was in middle category, for the category of interest in learning, either with CTL approach using open ended questions or as with the CTL approach, students were of the high category, categories of creative thinking abilities, for both classes have the highest percentage on the aspect of smoothness, by providing CTL approach with open ended questions and CTL approach, students’ interest increased significantly and CTL approach with open ended questions was better than CTL approach in terms of students' ability to think creatively, and CTL approach with open ended questions was not better than CTL approach in terms of student interest.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran geometri bangun ruang sisi datar kelas VIII SMP. Perangkat pembelajaran tersebut terdiri atas: Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajar-an (RPP), Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS) dan tes hasil belajar. RPP dan LKS menggunakan pendekatan open-ended dengan berorientasi kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (R D) yang dikembangkan oleh Borg dan Gall dengan modifikasi. Hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dinyatakan: (1) valid berdasarkan penilaian ahli/praktisi, (2) praktis digunakan berdasarkan: (a) observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, (b) penilaian guru, dan (c) angket respons siswa, dan (3) efektif berdasarkan hasil tes kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.Kata Kunci: pengembangan, perangkat pembelajaran geometri, pendekatan open-ended, kemampuan berpikir kritis. Developing the Learning Kits for the Topics of Geometry Using Open-Ended Approach with Critical Thinking Ability Orientation at Junior High School AbstractThis study aims at developing the learning kits for the topics Polyhedral of geometry at grade 8th in Junior High School. The learning kits consist of the Lesson Plans, the Student Worksheets, and the learning achievement test. The Lesson Plans and Student Worksheets use open-ended approach with critical thinking ability orientation. This is a research and development (RD) study by modifying Borg and Gall’s procedures. The result of study can be concluded that: (1) the learning kits are valid based on experts evaluation, (2) they are practical based on the result of: (a) the learning observation, (b) the teachers evaluation, and (c) the students’ responses questionnaire, and (3) they are effective based on the result of students’ critical thinking ability test.Keywords: develop, learning kits of geometry, open-ended approach, critical thinking ability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan membandingkan keefektifan pendekatan problem posing dan pendekatan konvensional ditinjau dari prestasi belajar, kemampuan koneksi matematis, dan disposisi matematis. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu. Populasi mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tempel Sleman yang terdiri atas 6 kelas. Kelas VIII A dan VIII D terpilih secara acak sebagai sampel. Kelas VIII D sebagai kelas eksperimen diberikan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan problem posing. Kelas VIII A sebagai kelas kontrol diberikan pembelajaran konvensional. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan nontes, sedangkan instrumen yang digunakan meliputi soal tes prestasi belajar, soal tes kemampuan koneksi matematis, dan angket disposisi matematis siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji MANOVA,  uji t satu sampel, dan uji t dua sampel independen. Hasil penelitian pada taraf signifikan 5% menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan problem posing efektif ditinjau dari prestasi belajar dan kemampuan koneksi matematis. Pembelajaran konvensional tidak efektif ditinjau dari prestasi belajar, kemampuan koneksi matematis, dan disposisi matematis. Pendekatan pembelajaran problem posing lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional ditinjau dari prestasi belajar dan kemampuan koneksi matematis.Kata kunci: pendekatan pembelajaran problem posing, prestasi belajar, kemampuan koneksi matematis, disposisi matematis. The Effectiveness of Problem Posing Approach in Terms of Achievement, Mathematical Connection Ability and Mathematical Disposition in Mathematics AbstractThe aims of this study were to describe the effectiveness of problem posing approach, the conventional approach, and the comparison of the effectiveness between problem posing approach and conventional approach in terms of  achievement, mathematical connection ability, and mathematical disposition. The research design used quasi-experimental.. The population consisted of all 8th grade in State Junior High School 1 Tempel Sleman consisting of six classes. There were two classes involved. Class VIII D as the experiment class was taught using problem posing approach, while class VIII A as the control class was taught using conventional learning. The data collecting techniques were a test and non-test whereas the instruments were used to collect the data consisted of a mathematical achievement test, a mathematical connection test and a mathematical disposition questionnaire. The data were analyzed using MANOVA test, one sample t test, and two samples independent t test. The result of the study by using significance level 5%, showed that the problem posing approach was only effective in terms of achievement and mathematical connection ability. Conventional approach was not effective in terms of student’s achievement, mathematical connection ability and mathematical disposition. Problem-posing approach  was more excellent compared to conventional learning in terms of student’s achievement ability and  mathematical connection ability.Keywords: problem posing approach, learning achievement, mathematical connection ability and mathematical disposition

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan dengan tujuan untuk menumbuhkan dan mengembangkan keterampilan mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Matematika FMIPA UNY peserta kuliah Statistika Elementer semester Februari-Juni 2006 dalam membuat media kartun untuk pembelajaran Statistika dan Peluang di SMP dan SMA.Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Pada siklus pertama, setelah mahasiswa memahami materi penyajian data yang disajikan menggunakan media kartun, mahasiswa diberi tugas membuat media kartun untuk pembelajaran Statistika di SMP dan SMA khusus materi penyajian data. Media kartun hasil karya mahasiswa ini selanjutnya dievaluasi oleh tim peneliti, terutama untuk kesesuaian media dengan jenjang pendidikan siswa dan kebenaran media dalam merepresentasikan materi, serta oleh pakar media di jurusan Pendidikan Matematika FMIPA UNY terutama untuk segi keterbacaan, tampilan, estetika, dan kreativitasnya. Hasil evaluasi terhadap media kartun karya mahasiswa pada siklus pertama akan digunakan untuk masukan dalam pemberian tugas pada siklus kedua yaitu membuat media kartun untuk materi Peluang di SMP dan SMA setelah mahasiswa mendapat perkuliahan tentang materi Peluang yang juga disajikan dengan menggunakan media kartun.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan adanya kegiatan pemberian contoh dan tugas membuat media kartun pada perkuliahan statistika elementer dapat menumbuhkan dan meningkatkan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam membuat media kartun Statistika dan Peluang di SMP dan SMA yang tampak dari hasil penilaian terhadap media kartun hasil karya mahasiswa yakni rata-rata nilai untuk tugas pertama sebesar 8,9 dan tugas kedua sebesar 9,6. Kegiatan pengintegrasian pembuatan media dalam perkuliahan Statistika Elementer melalui pemberian contoh dan tugas tersebut dalam pelaksanannya dilakukan dengan senantiasa memberikan arahan dan panduan mengenai teknik pembuatannya terutama ketika perkuliahan dilakukan dengan menggunakan media kartun. Selain itu, secara keseluruhan 89,9% mahasiswa merespons baik kegiatan pembelajaran yang telah dilakukan.Kata Kunci: Media kartun, Statistika dan Peluang.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran lingkaran SMP Kelas VIII dengan suplemen materi History of Mathematics (HoM) yang terdiri dari RPP dan Modul yang memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. Model pengembangan ynag digunakan adalah model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation). Analisis data kevalidan dan kepraktisan dilakukan dengan cara mengkonversi skor empiris yang diperoleh menjadi data kualitatif skala lima. Analisis keefektifan dilakukan dengan cara menentukan persentase banyak siswa yang mencapai kategori minimal tinggi untuk angket dan menentukan persentase ketuntasan siswa pada tes prestasi belajar. Berdasarkan hasil validasi, RPP dan Modul yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria valid dengan kategori sangat baik. RPP dan Modul yang dikembangkan praktis dan efektif. Kepraktisan perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan mencapai kategori sangat baik berdasarkan hasil observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dan penilaian guru, modul mencapai kategori baik berdasarkan respon siswa. Perangkat pembelajaran juga efektif ditinjau dari motivasi, rasa ingin tahu, dan prestasi belajar siswa.Kata Kunci: pengembangan, perangkat pembelajaran, History of Mathematics Developing Circle Instructional Kits of 8th Grade Junior High School with the Supplement of History of Mathematics (HOM) Material AbstractThis research aims to produce the circle instructional kits for 8th grade Junior High School with the supplement of history of mathematics (HoM), consists of lesson plans and module. The developing model was ADDIE’s model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The validity and practicality of the data were analyzed by converting the empiric scores obtained into five scale qualitative data. The effectivity was analyzed by determining the percentage of students who reached minimally high category of the questionnaires and determining the percentage of student’s completeness in the achievement test. Based on the validation result of lesson plans and module which have been developed, they include in valid criteria with very good category. Lesson plans and module which have been developed are practical and effective. The Practicability of instructional kits that are developed reach very good category that based on observation result of lesson implementation and teacher’s evaluation, the module reaches good categoty that based on students’ response. Instructional kits also effective based on students’ motivation, curiosity, and achievement.Keywords: development, instructional kit, History of Mathematics
