Abstract

Teachers need some supporting elements to achieve goals of learning process such as teaching materials and learning strategy. In fact, several units such as the scope, procedure, and focus of teaching materials for each unit still needed to be developed. This research was expected to contribute for increasing students’ competence. One of the supporting elements was students’ Physics worksheet (LKPD) of Senior High School grade X which oriented on IDEAL problem solving strategy. This strategy consisted of five steps, such as identify the problem, define the problem, explore solution, act on the strategy, look back and evaluate the effect (IDEAL). The type of this research was research and development with four-D model which was define, design, develops and disseminate steps. The research was conducted until develop step because disseminate step had some limitedness. The product of this research was examined for validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Validity test was conducted by Drs. Asrul, M.A, Drs. Gusnedi, M.Si, Dra. Murtiani, M.Pd, Drs. Amali Putra, M.Pd and Drs. Masril, M.Si, as Physics Lectures at State University of Padang. After validated by lecturers, the product was applied at X Science 2 at SMAN 1 Padang to determine its practicality and effectiveness. Practicality test was conducted by 3 teachers and 21 students of SMAN 1 Padang using questioners. Based on data analysis, there were three research results. First, LKPD of Senior High School grade X which oriented on IDEAL problem solving strategy was very valid with 82.58. Second, the results of limited applying showed that LKPD of Senior High School grade X which oriented on IDEAL problem solving strategy was very practical with 80, 02 and effective used in teaching learning process. Third, the students’ knowledge competence was increased

Abstract

Teachers in Elementary School Subdistrict IV Koto Agam District, especially Elementary School Gugus 01 Subdistrict IV Koto Agam experienced problems in the implementation of learning Arts and Skills Arts (SBK), especially craft materials. The reality that exists in the elementary school is that SBK learning is not well implemented. The main problem is that teachers do not master SBK material, especially craft materials. Based on these problems it was agreed with the Chairperson of Cluster 1 District IV Koto, that the priority issues to be resolved were concerning; 1) mastery of craft learning materials and 2) mastery of craft-making techniques from used goods. To overcome this problem, training was carried out to teachers, with the aim of increasing teacher mastery in craft learning, so as to improve the quality of SBK learning, especially craft material in Elementary School. The results of these activities are: Most of junior high school teachers have mastered the craft materials given, especially the technique of making handicrafts from used goods properly.

Abstract

Arts and skills / craft education is a set of knowledge that can be used by teachers to train and awaken aesthetic sensitivity so that they can experience the knowledge and experience gained in everyday life (Pakasi, 2007: 60). Thus, the results of arts education and skills are expected to increase the ability to apply, develop, and disseminate art in an effort to improve the level of social life and enrich the culture of society. Based on observations and discussions of the community service team with teachers in the fields of Fine Arts and Skills in several Pariaman City Middle Schools (December 12, 2018) that, most teachers do not teach skills learning. That is, demands for competency standards, especially learning of skills do not run accordingly. While the framework for developing curriculum for Junior High School / Madrasah Tsanawiyah workshops must be directed at developing skills at the level of manipulation (modification) aimed at producing multi-design products from both basic material types and product forms based on the potential of local wisdom. One of the efforts that can be done is to help teachers of arts and culture and skills to develop insights and skills in learning crafts, namely Weaving Card Crafts with various types of materials and techniques for products of disposable objects and art objects. This card weaving craft training is packaged in the Community Partnership Program (PKM) which is very useful for art and skills teachers to be taught to students according to the demands of the 2013 curriculum "to appreciate and be able to make local-based handicraft works", because not all students are able continuing higher education, they must be equipped with skills in school.

Abstract

The effect of high (28oC) and low (14oC) temperature on thyroid hormone production were studied in five male sheep since the activity of thyroid releasing hormone (TRH) cell in the hypothalamus that influence the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) production and release can be affected through the temperature regulatory center. The aim of this study were to measure the iodine (the core of thyroid  hormone)  needed  in  the  different  temperatures,  T4 (thyroxine) production, T4 and T3 (triiodotironine) concentration. Two experiments were performed  in  both  condition  to  investigate  the  thyroidal 125 I  uptake  and  to measure  T4 production.  The  sheep  were  shorn  at  the  beginning  of  each adaptation period (22o C). The first  treatment was  high  temperature and  the second treatment was low temperature. The experiments were done at least five weeks of each temperature. The mean of rectal temperatures during the warm period were significantly higher than that in the cold period. The feed intake during the warm period tend to decrease significantly, but there was no increase during the cold period. The absolute iodine uptake (AIU) over 24 hours was markedly increased during the second period (7.94±1.37 -g/24 hr) compare to the first period (1.65±0.13 -g/24 hr). It means that cold exposure has a potential to stimulate the thyroid gland in order to uptake more iodide. The mean of T4 concentration  was 51.6±2.1 ng/ml during the warm and 61.2±5.5 ng/ml four weeks after shift to the cold period and did not differ, but four weeks later the concentration  was  significantly  increased  (77.4±1.47)(33%).  The  same  pattern occurred to the T3 concentration that the four weeks after shifting the level of T3 was not significantly increased from value of 0.39 ng/ml to value of 0.51 ng/ml, eight weeks after shifting the T3 value (0.65 ng/ml) was significantly rose.
