Abstract

Alasan penulis untuk melakukan penelitian ini dikarenakan Pada abad 21 ini teknologi informasi dan komunikasi berkembang dengan pesat, dan mempunyai banyak dampak dalam aspek kehidupan. Salah satunya berdampak bagi pelaku foreign exchange (forex).Para pelaku foreign (trader) sebenarnya dapat lebih mudah dalam memantau fluktuasi dengan memanfaatkan teknologi yang canggih pada saat ini, tanpa harus membuang waktu untuk selalu memantau melalui Website. Sayangnya, belum ada trader yang mempunyai ide untuk membuat aplikasi ini pada mobile phone android. Oleh karena itu penulis mempunyai ide untuk merancang aplikasi yang melakukan pemantauan dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi android dan autonomous agent berbasis JADE (JAVA Agent Development Environtment). Pada penelitian ini, penulis menawarkan kemudahan kepada trader. Karena nantinya Trader hanya akan menginputkan rule pemantauan yang berisi kode valuta, jenis transaksi, kondisi dan nilai yang diinginkan. Saat rule pemantauan terpenuhi maka trader akan mendapatkan notifikasi pada Smartphone Android yang digunakan, Pemanfaatan aplikasi tersebut dapat memberikan waktu luang para trader untuk mengerjakan pekerjaan yang seharusnya dikerjakan tanpa membuang waktu untuk melakukan pemantauan fluktuasi valuta asing secara langsung, tanpa takut kehilangan informasi.Keywords : Valuta asing, Android, Autonomus Agent, Framework JADE

Abstract

Due to the advancement of information and communication technology, securing data or information is one of the important task to do. Cryptography is one of a computational science that develop very fast in order to protect data or information. One of method used in cryptography is Hill chiper, i.e.a methode used to convert plaintext to become chipertext vice versa, by using a matrix. Hill chiper is one of cryptography algorithm using symmetrical keys. Hill chiper algorithm uses an invertible matrix n x n as a key to encrypt, to covert plaintext to become chipertext, or to decrypt, to convert chipertext back to plaintext. For encryption the plaintext, which is converted into number, is multiplied by the enchipering matrix, and the results, which in number, are again converted into texts. Due to the fact that it uses matrix as a key for encryption or decryption, then Hill chiper is very difficult to break. In some references, text to be converted has 26 alphabets and the matrix used to convert is also even modular. In fact, the length of the different texts to be converted is not limited to 26, it can be longer than 26, and the converting matrix can also be odd modular. This paper disscuss the Hill chiper cryptography by using a matrix not only even modular but also odd modular.

Abstract

This paper is a report of a study about the influence of talent on the academic achievement of UNAI student batch 2016. The new students accepted in 2016 had to do talent test conducted by a professional institution giving three options of results namely Recommended, Doubted, Not Recommended. The academic achievement is seen in two parameters, i.e. the degree of graduation and GPA, observed for 6 semesters (three academic years) starting from 2016/2017 until 2018/2019. The study shows that the degree of graduation for UNAI student batch 2016 is 82%, or the degree of drop out is 18%. The highest degree of graduation is achieved by the students of the faculty of teacher training and education, i.e. 94.4%, while the lowest figure is achieved by the students of faculty of philosophy, i.e. 75%. In terms of academic achievement (GPA), there is a slight improvement of GPA from year to year. However, there is siginificant difference in the academic achievement between students considered as talented, less talented and not talented. The fact that there is siginifanct influence of talent onto the achievement of UNAI, then it is very important to study some other possible faktors namely motivation, IQ, and other external factors.

Abstract

This paper is a result of a series of surveys conducted on the new students of Universitas Advent Indonesia (UNAI), batches 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, regarding the reasons of the students choosing UNAI to study. The purpose of the study is to see the dominant factors that influence the new students to choose UNAI and their preferred study programs. This information is expected to be a very important for the decision makers to make a strategic planning of how to achieve UNAI vision that in 2020 UNAI students will be 3000, increasing from around 2000 in 2017. The results show that there are three factors, namely: UNAI is a dormitory campus with religious programs (55.77%), UNAI has a good quality and discipline (25.57) and UNAI has student labor or working education program (17.40%), while the rest is because is near their house or other reasons (12.87%). There are three reasons for the new students to choose the preferred study program, firstly because they are interested or talented in the study program (53.60%), secondly the study program has good quality and easier to get job after graduation (33.5%) and the rest is there is other preferred study programs available in UNAI and their parents asked them to study in UNAI (12.85%). Another important factor for the new students to choose UNAI is because UNAI has a good accreditation level from government. 88.10% of the new students agree and even fully agree that the accreditation level of the preferred study program is very important factor for them to choose the study program. However, it is interested to study in the future why the adventist students in West Indonesia Union Missions (estimated to be around 80%) do not choose to study.

Abstract

This article is a report of a study regarding the impact of a drastic change in learning model from face to face in class to become virtual class, due to covid-19 pandemic, in Universitas Advent Indonesia in academic year 2019/2020. The population for this study is all students enrolled both in the odd and even semester 2019/2020, i.e. 1516 students, and all population become sample. The academic achievement is seen solely by Semester Grade Point Average (GPA) achieved by the students in end of semester. Generally, at the university level, the academic achievement increased, although there are two faculties, i.e. Economics and Education, the academic achievement of students decreased slightly, while for other faculties, the achievement increased. Based on the batch, the first year student showed a negative impact of daring system, while other batches performed positively. In terms gender, both male and female students have a positive impact of daring learning system, however female students performed better than male students. These results are surprising, since it was assumed before that the academic achievement will be decreased due to the drastic change in the learning model from class room model to virtual model. This study implied that the covid-19 pandemic brought a positive impact in the academic achievement of UNAI students. This happened since both faculties and students of UNAI were successful to overcome any difficulties or challenges in the learning model due to the covid-19 pandemic However, this study needs to be continued to see the long term observation, whether the positive impact still happens or not in the odd semester 2020/2021.

Abstract

This paper is a report of a study about the impact of covid-19 pandemic onto the performance of faculties in Universitas Advent Indonesia in academic year 2019/2020. The purpose of this study is to see whether covid-19 pandemic influence teacher performance indicated by the students’ evaluation. The population of the study is all lecturers in UNAI who taught during the odd and even semester 2019/2020, i.e. 91 lecturers. The questionnaire consists of 33 questions involving 5 basic competences of teacher, namely pedagogic (9 items), professional (8 items), personality (6 items), social (5 items) and spiritual (5 items). The teacher performance is analysed using t-test or anova statistical analysis based on faculty, age, gender, and degree. The analysis indicated that (1) there is a significant difference in teacher performance among the faculties, (2) there is significant difference in teacher performance based on age, gender and degree held. This analysis indicated that the covid-19 pandemic does not have any significant impact onto the teacher performance. The difference in the teacher performance among the faculties (departments) may not be due to covid-19 pandemic, since it also occurred before the pandemic. For study the pandemi occurred about 2.5 months, or half semester, since in the middle of March 2020, therefore it is interesting to do a further study whether a long term pandemic has an impact on the teacher performance if the online learning continues.

Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic has hit Indonesia or even the world since early 2020 Indonesia, and many people have suffered from the disease due to the pandemic and even some of them have died. Besides killing so many people, Covid-19 pandemic has been a night mare for many people living in this world, it has been destroying our economics, or even every aspect of our life, including education. Indonesian government has applied a lock down regulation, where people must work from home. No exception, UNAI has to change from offline teaching to become online teaching, although UNAI is a dormitory school. Due to the sudden change in teaching and learning processes, there should be an impact to student achievement, faculty performance or even UNAI as an institution. It is interesting to see whether the covid-19 pandemic brings negative effects or are there any positive effects. The purpose of this study is to see whether covid-19 pandemic influence student, teacher or even UNAI’s performance. The performance of student is seen by the GPA (Grade Point Average), while the teacher performance is seen by teacher evaluation and the performance in research and publications. The parameters of UNAI performance involve students and teachers’ performance, besides other institutional indicator, such as financial, ranking and accreditation, etc. The study was carried out since March 2020 until June 2021. The results of the study show that the covid-19 pandemic brought a positive impact in the academic achievement of UNAI students, since there was a significant increase in GPA from 3.21 to 3.26. However, in terms of student evaluation on teacher performance there was a slight decrease 4.413 to 4.386, although the decrease was not significant. The percentage of teacher published in a recognized journal and book publication increased from around 40% (before pandemic) to 55% (during pandemic). Institutionally, UNAI performed even better during pandemic, in terms of webometrics world ranking, accreditation, and financial indicators (working capital, liquidity and cash). In conclusion, regardless its negative sides, the covid-19 pandemic has brought a positive impact to UNAI. Covid-19 pandemic is like a blessing in disguise to UNAI.

Abstract

This paper is a study of students’ perception onto UNAI online system. The data for students’ perception is obtained from questioners filled through online by students. The objective of the study is to see how well UNAI online system perceived by students. The study was conducted during the odd semester 2021/2022. The population was 1636 students, and samples taken randomly was 105 students. The questioner consists of 6 parameters of perception: benefit of online system, usage simplicity, friend support, facility completeness, usage interest, dan usage frequency. The study shows that based on individual regression analysis, the benefit, simplicity, friend support, facility completeness significantly have a significant effect on interest to use the online system, and the interest to use the online system has an effect on usage frequency. However, on simultaneously regression analysis among the four parameters, only two parameters (the perception of benefits and facility completeness) have a significant effect on students’ interest using the online system. Based on cross tabulation analysis, faculty of education students have better perception on UNAI online system compared to other faculty students, senior students have better perception compared to other batches, and female students have better perception than male students. The findings of the study imply that the facility of online system, in terms of network, bandwidth, computer facility, and learning resources need to be accomplished in order to improve the students’ academic achievement during the online learning era due to covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This research is a study of the stress level of students in offline learning at the beginning of the odd semester 2022/2023. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the learning model at the Indonesian Adventist University (UNAI) has changed from offline. Before the pandemic, online lectures were conducted (online) and later became hybrid learning (online and offline). After 1 year of the pandemic period, offline lectures will be implemented again starting in the 2022/2023 Odd Semester. This change in learning model has an impact on the stress level of students. The population data processed in this study were all students who took offline learning in the first month of the 2022/2023 Odd Semester, totaling 1,411 students. From the population, the test data was determined as many as 97 people who were chosen randomly. The test data has represented all students of each faculty, year of admission and gender. The results showed that the stress level of students in the low category. There is no significant difference in stress levels between the 6 faculties. Stress levels were also not significantly different between new and old students, between men and women, and between students who took a few courses and many. Academic and extracurricular programs conducted on campus and campus dormitories contribute to the low level of stress experienced by students at the beginning of the offline learning semester.

Abstract

Abstract Various cultural and religious traditions and practices associated with death. The nurse must ensure that any ritual is implied according to the client's belief and culture. The purpose of the study is to explore the cultural activities of care after the death of Christian elderly in Batak Tobanese culture in Indonesia. Method of this study is qualitative with an ethnography approach. Data is obtained by in-depth interviews with six traditional kings of the Batak Tobanese tribe. Informants were approached by snowballing. Data were analyzed using content analysis. Several themes and categories emerged: the level of death, personal care, position of the hands, wailing, piece of linen (Ulos), and cemetery. Care after death in Batak Tobanese culture is very unique and different from other tribes. Each symbol implies important meaning. Inappropriate in executing the meaning of these symbols may cause problems in the funeral procession. Therefore, nurses responsible for providing appropriate handling start from the beginning such as personal care and proper hand position according to the level of the death before the dead body is discharged from hospital. Perawat harus memastikan bahwa setiap ritual diaplikasikan sesuai dengan keyakinan dan budaya klien. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi kegiatan budaya perawatan setelah kematian lansia Kristen dalam budaya Batak Toba di Indonesia. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Data diperoleh dengan wawancara mendalam dengan enam raja adat suku Batak Toba. Informan didekati dengan cara snowballing. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis isi. Beberapa tema dan kategori muncul: tingkat kematian, perawatan, posisi tangan, ratapan, kain ulos, dan kuburan. Perawatan setelah kematian dalam budaya Batak Toba sangat unik dan berbeda dengan suku-suku lainnya. Setiap simbol menyiratkan makna penting. Ketidaktepatan dalam melaksanakan makna simbol-simbol tersebut dapat menimbulkan masalah dalam prosesi pemakaman. Oleh karena itu, perawat bertanggung jawab untuk memberikan penanganan yang tepat mulai dari awal seperti perawatan diri dan posisi tangan yang tepat sesuai dengan tingkat kematian sebelum jenazah dipulangkan dari rumah sakit.
