Abstract

Abstrak: Pertanyaan esensial membantu guru dalam memberikan pembelajaran yang fokus dan bermakna bagi siswa. Pertanyaan esensial yang diberikan dengan baik membantu siswa mendapatkan pemahaman yang jelas dan mengembangkan kebiasaan berpikir mereka secara aktif dan kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyusun  pertanyaan esensial  untuk membantu  guru memperdalam  pemahaman  siswa  dan meningkatkan kesadaran siswa terhadap keprihatian terbesar di dunia yakni lingkungan. Penelitian ini dimulai dengan analisa pertanyaan-pertanyaan pada buku guru dan buku siswa Kurikulum 2013 kelas V tema 1 dan subtema 1, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan. Selanjutnya melakukan revisi dengan cara menyusun  pertanyaan esensial berdasarkan kriteria yang  disarankan oleh McTighe  dan Wiggins (2013). Pertanyaan esensial yang disusun kemudian direviu, dinilai dan dikomentari dengan menggunakan metode expert judgment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lebih dari 65% pertanyaan yang disusun masuk dalam kategori pertanyaan esensial sedangkan 35% lainnya membutuhkan revisi lebih lanjut. Kata kunci: pertanyaan esensial, menanya, kesadaran terhadap lingkungan DESIGNING ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING AND LEARNING TO DEEPEN UNDERSTANDING AND DEVELOP STUDENTS’ AWARENESS TOWARD ENVIRONMENT Abstract: Essential questions help teachers in delivering  focused and meaningful lessons for students. Good  essential questions will  help students gaining clear understanding and developing  their critical thinking skills as well  as creativity. This research is aiming  at designing  essential questions to help teachers deepening  understanding and developing  students’ awareness towards the world’s  greatest concern, environment. It was started with analysis of questions in the teacher and student books of the2013 Curriculum grade V theme 1 and subtheme 1, especially those related to environmental matters. The next step was doing revisions by designing essential questions based on the criteria suggested by McTighe and Wiggins (2013). The essential questions proposed were then reviewed, graded, and given feedback by using expert judgment methods. The result showed that more than 65% questions proposed were categorized as essential questions while the remaining 35% still needed further revisions. Keywords: essential questions, questioning, awareness toward environment

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to assist teachers at Kanisius Demangan Baru Kindergarten about Montessori method-based learning so that teachers can apply it in their respective classes. The method applied in this service is the discussion method by explaining the material to be delivered, the question and answer method is used to explore the teacher's understanding of the material to be given and the workshop is used to train and guide teachers in compiling learning videos that are integrated into the classroom. The results showed that the Montessori method of teaching mentoring received a positive response. The teacher clearly understood the material presented, especially the daily life skills area and the sensorial area. For language and mathematics materials, teachers need to get further assistance. The data result also explains that the Montessori method is effective and can be developed in Kanisius Kindergarten, Demangan Baru. In addition, the Montessori method is also relevant to the learning process and curriculum used by Kanisius Demangan Baru Kindergarten in collaboration with reflective pedagogy.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul permainan tradisional berkarakter adil pada anak usia 9-12 tahun. Model penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D). Penelitian ini melibatkan lima guru dari Yogyakarta, Kulonprogo, Klaten, dan Gunungkidul untuk analisis kebutuhan, empat validator modul yang terdiri dari tiga guru bersertifikat dan satu dosen berlatar belakang seni untuk expert judgement, dan enam anak usia 9-12 tahun untuk uji coba terbatas. modul. Hasil penelitiannya adalah sebagai berikut. 1) Modul permainan tradisional dikembangkan berdasarkan jenis langkah-langkah ADDIE, yaitu Analisis, Desain, Kembangkan, Implementasikan, dan Evaluasi. 2) Kualitas modul permainan tradisional berdasarkan hasil validasi menggunakan skala 1-4, secara keseluruhan termasuk dalam kategori "Baik" dengan skor 3,32 dan rekomendasi "Pengaruh besar adalah r = 0,91 yang dikategorikan sebagai “pengaruh besar” atau setara dengan 83,07%. Artinya penerapan modul permainan tradisional mampu menjelaskan 83,7% dari ragam perubahan karakter adil anak usia 9-12 tahun. Tingkat efektivitas ditunjukkan oleh skor N-gain sebesar 74,922% yang termasuk dalam kategori “tinggi”.

Abstract

AbstractThis study was derived by the needs of the children to develop their naturalist intelligence. The importance of this research is to make children knowing the state of nature through the process of direct observation and playing busy book. The aim of this research is to develop the media that suited for the characteristics of the children in early age and discover the quality of the busy book products as a media to develop naturalist intelligence in children aged 3-5 years old. The method used in this research was research and development (R&D). There subject used in this study were eight children who were involved in the busy book media trial. This study took data on the analysis of research needs in the Yogyakarta and Sleman areas and product trials carried out on a limited basis at Jalan Affandi, Gang Kuwera No. 14, Caturtunggal Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Data processing in this study used descriptive-qualitative techniques. The results of this study were as follows. 1) The busy book media equipped with a guidebook developed was beneficial to develop naturalist intelligence in early childhood based on the steps in ADDIE, Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. 2) The quality of the busy book and guidebook media products was “very good”. Thus, it can be concluded that the busy book media and guidebooks developed had very good quality and were useful for early childhoodKeywords: Research and development, busy book media, naturalist intelligence. AbstrakAbstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perlunya membantu anak usia dini khususnya pada anak usia 3-5 tahun dalam mengembangkan kecerdasan naturalis menggunakan media permainan. Pentingnya penelitian ini agar anak dapat mengetahui keadaan alam melalui proses observasi secara langsung serta bermain busy book.  Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengembangkan media yang sesuai dengan karakteristik anak usia dini dan  mengetahui kualitas produk media busy book untuk mengembangkan kecerdasan naturalis pada anak usia 3-5 tahun. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D). Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini 8 anak dilibatkan untuk uji coba media busy book. Penelitian ini mengambil data analisis kebutuhan penelitian di daerah Yogyakarta dan Sleman dan uji coba produk yang dilaksanakan secara terbatas di Jalan Affandi, Gang Kuwera No. 14, Caturtunggal Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Pengolahan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik deskriptif-kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. 1) Media busy book untuk mengembangkan kecerdasan naturalis pada anak usia dini dilengkapi dengan buku panduan dikembangkan berdasarkan langkah-langkah dalam ADDIE, Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, dan Evaluate. 2) Kualitas produk media busy book  dan buku panduan adalah “sangat baik”. Dengan demikan dapat disimpulkan bahwa media busy book dan buku panduan yang dikembangkan memiliki kualitas sangat baik dan bermanfaat bagi anak usia dini. Kata kunci: Penelitian dan pengembangan, media busy book, kecerdasan naturalis

Abstract

In 21st-century learning, life skills are indicated to be essential. Basic literacy is known to be one of them. Unfortunately, Indonesia is indicated to be low in literacy. Despite the Gerakan Literasi Sekolah [School Literacy Movement] offered by the government, literacy results are still low. This analysis indicated that improvement in Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is needed. This condition encouraged us to introduce essential questions as a part of language literacy to teachers to develop basic literacy skills. Reviews indicated that essential questions were effective to stimulate HOTS. Adopting educational design research, the researcher provided a diagnostic test to identify teachers’ literacy levels. The diagnostic was then followed by a short workshop to assist teachers to develop learning scenarios with essential questions in it. The learning scenarios developed by teachers suggested the requirement for teachers to have more practice in developing essential questions. Therefore, a module with step-by-step ways to develop essential questions followed by thorough workshops and training needs to be proposed as the follow-up.
