Abstract

Plastic waste is a serious problem in the community, especially in RW 4,5 and 6 of Notoprajan, Ngampilan, Yogyakarta. The utilization of plastic waste in the region is not yet optimal. This community service activity aims to provide education about plastic waste and train teenagers to make ecobricks. The method used is providing education about the types of plastic waste, the dangers of plastic and the various uses of plastic waste, ecobrick manufacturing. Furthermore, participants will be accompanied to practice directly making ecobricks. The results of this activity were in the form of ecobrick work by the participants. This proves that their understanding and skills have improved with this training.

Abstract

Abstract: Kapanewon Depok is located in the north of Yogyakarta City with rapid development. One of the groups here is the Aisyiah PCM Depok Women's Group, which is still less productive. This activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of participants in making hand sanitizers. The method of implementing this community service activity is entirely carried out online. The implementation of the activities is divided into four stages of planning, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The results of the evaluation of hand sanitizer training activities showed that there was an increase in the knowledge and skills of participants in making hand sanitizers. Participants who previously only knew a little about how to make hand sanitizers, after this activity their knowledge and skills increased by 100%.

Abstract

Bahan bakar minyak memiliki dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan yaitu meningkatkan emisi karbon dioksida (CO2). Oleh karena itu, perlu mencari sumber energi alternatif untuk menurunkan ketergantungan bahan bakar minyak dan memasok energi konsumsi domestik. Salah satu sumber energi terbarukan yang paling menjanjikan adalah biogas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan model kinetik untuk produksi biogas dari jerami jagung dengan limbah makanan sebagai co-digestion menggunakan persamaan linear dan eksponensial. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada variasi rasio F/I 2,3,4 dengan komposisi limbah makanan 10%. Kecepatan pembuatan biogas tertinggi diperoleh pada F/I 2. Model eksponensial memiliki nilai korelasi yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan model linier pada periode naik. Namun, model linier memiliki nilai korelasi yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan eksponensial pada periode menurun.

Abstract

People with diabetes mellitus in Gunungkidul are increasing in number. This is caused by excessive consumption of flour-based foods. Communities need to be introduced to alternative food substitutes for flour such as cassava. Besides being able to reduce flour consumption in the community, training and education about non-flour snacks can also increase the income of less productive housewives. The purpose of this activity is to provide education about the dangers of consuming foods containing excessive flour and to train in making flour and food from non-wheat alternative ingredients to ladies of Aisyiyah members in ladies Gunungkidul area. The series of service activities was carry out in the form of counseling on food security and healthy food. The second activity was in the form of training in making flour substitute flour and non-flour processed foods. The evaluation phase was in the form of filling out questionnaires by participants. The results of this activisay are processed foods made from non-modified flour and improved knowledge and skills of the participants

Abstract

Pumpkin flour is one alternative wheat substitute flour that has an advantage in terms of nutritional value, other than that the pumpkin fruit in Indonesia is quite abundant so it is potential to be used as food as well as subtituen wheat flour. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of treatment by soaking the pumpkin using hydrogen rich water to the physicochemical characteristics of starch as well as the texture, aroma and taste of processed pumpkin flour cake. The method done is to immersion using hydrogen rich water pH 5 and 9 for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 hours and then dried using a microwave and mashed with a blender then sifted using screening. Analysis conducted  favorite test. The results showed that in the processed cakes shows the texture, aroma and distinctive flavor of the yellow pumpkin. Pumpkin flour is good to be used as a mixture of wheat flour in the manufacturing of various food processed such as wet cakes and biscuits.

Abstract

Waste Cooking Oil (WCO) is the waste that came from household. WCO become a threat to community because it will come back to food chains again as residual bulk oil that have cheaper price than branded cooking oil. Lintas Winongo Waste Bank in Bumijo, Jetis, Yogyakarta City are trying to manage the waste cooking oil into recycled products. One of their products is aromatherapy candles. However, they had problem to produce the candles and sell it. They also faced problem about the odor of candle that came from WCO as raw material. The purpose of community service were to provide knowledge and skills to produce aromatherapy candles and to calculate the Cost of Goods Sold (CoGS). The methods in this activity were carried out in two stage. The first activity has organized by training and assistance in producing aromatherapy candles that mixed WCO and other ingredients. The second activity focused in calculating CoGS of candles. The results from these community service activities were increased knowledge and skills about producing aromatherapy candles. There were also increased knowledge about manage CoGS of their products

Abstract

Waste management is an important thing that needs to be resolved. The accumulation of garbage and the not yet managed urban and rural waste are one of the driving factors for this community service. Desa Semanu is one of the villages that already has a TPS-3R in Gunung Kidul Regency but the TPS-3R has not been utilized optimally. This study uses a qualitative method with community empowerment program. Aims for this research is to know the implementation of community empowerment programs. Furthermore, the purpose community service is to make Desa Semanu into a village that cares about waste by taking advantage of the integration of TPS 3R and a waste bank. One of the activities that have been carried out to support a village that cares about waste is by providing counseling about the dangers of burning waste to the environment and health. In addition, there was also counseling on the assistance of the Ahmad Dahlan University Center of Energy and Environmental Studies to make Desa Semanu can make a Waste Care Village. Based on the evaluation that has been carried out, most of the extension participants have increased their knowledge of solid waste knowledge.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian pada Masyarakat (PPM) sudah dilakukan selama 2 tahun di bank sampah Lintas Winongo. Anggota Bank Sampah sudah memahami bahwa sampah minyak bekas pakai merupakan jenis sampah yang cukup berbahaya apabila dibuang di saluran air. Perlu adanya penambahan jenis produk baru sebagai tambahan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan anggota Bank Sampah Lintas Winongo. Program PPM ini memfokuskan pada penambahan produk lain dari minyak goreng bekas pakai yaitu produk sabun marble sebagai produk souvenir dan pendampingan pengelolaan perhitungan keuangan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu (1) Sosialisasi, pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan sabun marble sebagai produk souvenir dan (2) Sosialisasi dan pendampingan penetapan harga pokok produksi ideal. Pelaksanaan PPM dilakukan secara luring dan daring pada bulan Agustus 2021 dan September 2021. Terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dari 8% menjadi 92% dan peningkatan ketrampilan dari 8% menjadi 100% dengan adanya program PPM ini. Selain itu juga adanya kemanfaatan program PPM yang telah dilakukan.  Abstract. The Community Service Program (PPM) has been carried out for 2 years at the Lintas Winongo waste bank. The members of the Waste Bank already understand that used oil waste is a type of waste that is quite dangerous if it is disposed of in waterways. It is necessary to add new types of products as additional knowledge and skills of members of the Lintas Winongo Waste Bank. This PPM program focuses on adding other products from used cooking oil, namely marble soap products as souvenir products and assistance in managing financial calculations. The methods used are (1) Socialization, training and assistance in making marble soap as a souvenir product and (2) Socialization and assistance in determining the ideal cost of production. The PPM implementation is carried out offline and online in August 2021 and September 2021. There is an increase in knowledge from 8% to 92% and an increase in skills from 8% to 100% with this PPM program. In addition, there is also the benefit of the PPM program that has been carried out.

Abstract

Kanker merupakan penyakit yang mematikan. Kanker disebabkan oleh adanya radikal bebas. Radikal bebas dapat dihambat menggunakan antioksidan. Antioksidan dapat diperoleh dari tanaman dan buah-buahan, salah satunya bunga telang. Bunga telang mengandung antosianin dan flavonoid yang dapat menangkal oksidasi radikal bebas. Zat aktif pada bunga telang dapat diperoleh dengan ekstraksi menggunakan pelarut. Pelarut yang digunakan saat ini adalah etanol 70-90%. Apabila pemurnian tidak sempurna sisa etanol pada ekstrak dikhawatirkan akan menyebabkan masalah baru untuk tubuh. Alternatif pelarut yang digunakan adalah hydrogen rich water (HRW). Selain lebih aman, HRW juga lebih kaya antioksidan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah melakukan uji kandungan atau aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak bunga telang menggunakan pelarut HRW. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 3 tahapan yaitu persiapan sampel, ekstraksi sampel dengan metode maserasi menggunakan HRW (pH 5 dan 9) selama variasi waktu (3 dan 5 jam) serta pembanding etanol 70% selama variasi waktu 3 jam. Analisis aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH.Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh IC50 pada HRW pH 5, 9 waktu 3 jam, pH 5 dan 9 waktu 5 jam, serta etanol 70% pembanding berturut-turut 1653.51; 908.9641; 1176.0798; 1345.06 ; 978.44 ppm. Aktivitas antioksidan berdasarkan IC50 tersebut tergolong sangat lemah.

Abstract

The increasing need for wheat flour in Indonesia needs to be overcome by looking for alternatives to wheat flour. Wheat flour has the disadvantage of high sugar content, so flour from local tubers is needed, which is healthier, namely purple sweet potatoes. The disadvantage of local tubers if they are used as flour is their flourishing power so they need to be modified. Hydrogen rich water (HRW) is alkaline water that can be used to modify starch in purple sweet potato flour. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of HRW modification on water content, swelling power, ash content and color. The method used is soaking using variable pH (5.9), soaking time (15, 30 minutes) and compared with citric acid 1% with soaking time 30 minutes. The optimal analysis results were obtained at pH 9, soaking time of 30 minutes using HRW with a moisture content of 6%, swelling power of 4.1 g/g, ash content of 10%, the fat content of 13.5%, color L, a, b respectively 65.34; -0.33; 16.03.
