Abstract

The need for animal feed in Pangururan District, Samosir Regency is very lacking, and livestock waste is also a problem in the community environment, so the utilization of EM4 goat's urine waste is expected to increase the growth of Indigofera (Indigofera zollingeriana) and Turi (Sesbania grandiflora) legumes in appropriate doses. . This research was conducted in Pangururan Subdistrict, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra from April to August 2018. The research design used in this research was factorial randomized block design (RBD) which was divided into 2 treatment groups and 3 replications. The first factor is the type of plant (L), L1 = Indigofera zollingeriana and L2 = Sesbania grandiflora and the second factor is the dose of fertilization (P), P0 = without fertilization (Control), P1 = 200 ml / polybag, P2 = 250 ml / polybag, P3 = 300 ml / polybag, and P4 = 350 ml / polybag). Parameters observed were plant height, number of stalks, number of leaves, and stem diameter. The results showed that respons of liquid organic fertilizer of goat urine fermented by EM4 with various doses of fertilization had a significant effect on the parameters of the study, namely plant height, number of stalks, number of leaves, and stem diameter. The conclusion of this study is that fertilization with a dose of 200 ml / polybag gives optimal results in the growth of Indigofera (Indigofera zollingeriana) and Turi (Sesbania grandiflora) legumes.

Abstract

Demands of animal foods from livestock (meat, eggs and milk) over time tends to increase in line with population growth, income, nutrition awareness, and improvement in education levels. But even though it has increased, the level of meat consumption of the Indonesian people is still categorized as very low. This study aims to determine the social and economic characteristics of households and analyze the factors that influence consumption of household beef in Pandan District. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis, namely by observing directly the social and economic conditions of the household, then using a questionnaire to obtain data on the socio-economic conditions of the household. The method of multiple linear regression analysis is used to analyze the factors that influence the consumption pattern of the household beef. The results of the study show that consumers of beef in Pandan Sub-district have different socio-economic characteristics, both in terms of education, age, number of family members and income. The socio-economic characteristics of beef consumers, namely education, age, number of family members and income significantly influence the amount of consumption simultaneously. Age, number of family members and income have a partial effect on the amount of beef consumption, while the education variable does not have a partial effect on the amount of beef consumption.

Abstract

Microbes live in nature freely in water, air, or soil. One type of microbe is fungi. Fungi are microorganisms that are able to degrade fiber. This study aims to isolate fungi from corn waste and test the degradation ability of the best corn waste fungi fiber as a fibrous feed bioactivator. This research was carried out at the Laboratory of Animal Production, Faculty of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry Study Program, University of North Sumatra, in March 2018 - June 2018. This study used corn waste (corn cobs, corn straw, corn husk, corn flowers and corn roots). Parameters observed were macroscopic morphology (colony size, colony shape, clony color, colony elevation, colony edge), microscopic morphology (form of hyphae, conidial shape, and conidiophoric surface) and the ability to degrade fiber in fungi. Conclusions from the results of research on corn waste exploration obtained 6 fungi isolates, 4 of which were cellulolytic fungi that were able to degrade fibrous feed, namely two strains of Aspergillus sp., Fusarium sp., And Rizoctonia sp. Isolates which have a potential to degrade fiber are JE isolates (Rizoctonia sp. fungi) with a cellulolytic index of 1,178.
