Abstract

Abstract. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Biology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara in March 2015- June 2015. This study aims to determine the value of dry matter and organic matter processed leaf palm fronds fermentation and ammoniation in cattle Aceh. This study used the Latin Square Design (LSD) 4 x 4. The treatment is Po as the control (untreated), Pf = fermentation (biomol), P2 = ammoniation (urea 3%), P3 = fermentation + ammoniation.The observed variable composed of Consumption and Dry Matter (DMD) and Organic Matter Digestibility (OMD). The result showed that treatments gave not significantly different (P>0.05) on consumption of DM and OM, but gave significantly different effect on DMD and OMD (P<0.05). Average % DMD on treatments Po, PI, P2, P3 : 51.54; 56.65; 51.48; and 63.05 and average % OMD : 58.61; 63.22; 57.28; and 63.05, respectively. The conclusion from this study that utilization of oil palm fronds treated by fermentation or combination between fermentation and ammoniation can increase the dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility in Aceh cattle.

Abstract

Abstract. The objective of this research is analyze the extent to which the utilization of jackfruit seed flour can substitute rice bran in rations on the performance of chicken. This research was conducted in laboratory of livestock breeding livestock study program of agricultural faculty of north sumatera university, in March-April 2017. The design used in this research is randomized block design (RAK) with 4 treatments and 3 groups. Treatment with various levels of jackfruit seed meal ration with P0 (0%), P1 (10%), P2 (20%), P3 (30%). The parameters in this study are ration consumption, weight gain and ration conversion.The results showed the average consumption (g / head / day) for treatment P0; P1; P2; P3 of; 349,53; 345,71; 354.28; 343.67, then weight gain (PBB) (g / head / day) were; 98,85; 100,41; 92.49; 100.8, and ration conversion of; 6.36; 6.28; 6.87 and 6.21. The results of the diversity analysis showed that the utilization of Jackfruit seed flour gave no significant effect (P> 0,05) on the performance of chicken. The conclusion of this research is the use of jackfruit seed flour in ration can substitute rice bran in chicken ration.

Abstract

Abstract. The development of the society resulting for animal protein needed such as chicken egg’s increased and affect the demand for eggs in Medan. Therefore, it is necessary to do research to know the factors that influence the demand of chicken egg in traditional market of Medan city at consumer level by using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method or least squares method with SPSS 22.0 tool. This study was conducted from May to June 2017. This study used primary data obtained from observations and interviews of respondents. The location of the research is determined purposively and the respondent determination by accidental method. Primary data was obtained from 90 consumers of chicken eggs and added with secondary data from government agencies. Then it was analyzed by multiple linear analysis with 5 demand variables namely, the number of dependents, education, income, egg price of chicken, and age. The results showed that all variables simultaneously had a significant effect on demand. Partially only variable of dependent which have real effect to demand of chicken egg of race. So it can be concluded that the demand for eggs in Medan is only influenced by the number of dependents.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. The experiment was conducted in Kecamatan Selesai from June to August 2016. The method used was survey method with consideration of the aceh cattle  studies using palm oil fronds in amoniation and fermentation as a substitution of forage in Kecamatan Selesai, with the division of business scale. Criteria for determining the scale of business was based on the number of livestock ownership. Determination limit frequency distribution length of the class,  was the ownership of the largest  ownership reduced smallest in the length of class. The result showed that every treatments P0, P1, P2, P3 provide different results to average of total cost production (Rp/ekor/peroide): P0 6.284.187,69, P1 Rp. 6.502.768,02, P2 Rp. 6.225.270,04, and P3 Rp. 6.459.359. The average of total cost production (Rp/ekor/periode): P0 Rp. 6.430.300,00, P1 Rp. 6.688.470,00, P2 Rp. 6.666.010,00,- and P3 Rp. 6.666.010. The average of analysis profit/loss(Rp/ekor/periode): P0 Rp. 146.112,31; P1 Rp. 185.701,98, ; P2 Rp.440.739,96 dan P3 Rp.190.940,20. The average of R/C ratio: 1,02; 1,03; 1,07 dan 1,03. The Average of IOFC (Rp/ekor/periode): 197.687,31; 240.356,98; 490.354,96 and 242.515,20.  The results of this research was utilization of palm oil fronds which treated phisical + fermentation can increase income of cattle raiser.

Abstract

ABSTRACT.The purpose of this research were to know the magnitude and affect of marketing margin cost on the selling price of chicken eggs and how the systematics of chicken egg distribution from producers to final consumers. This research was conducted at 7 markets that have been chosen by way of deliberate from 21 districts located in Medan City: Setia Budi Market, Sei Kambing Market, Sambu Market (sentral), Aksara Market, Pringgan Market, Simpang Limun Market, and Kampung Lalang Market. This research was conducted from October to November 2016. This study used primary data obtained from observation and interviews of respondents. Determination of respondents by accidental sampling metohd. The parameters studied were channel and agency marketing, marketing margin, farmer share and marketing efficiency.The result of this study indicated that the marketing institution involved were collecting traders, big traders and small traders. Marketing channels had four channels. The marketing efficiency on channel I is 2,16%, channel II is 1,14%, Channel III was 2,13% and channel IV was 1,72%. Farmer share channel I was 80,14%, channel II was 81,52%, channel III was 76,21% and channel was 81,15%. The conclusion of this research was that  the marketing of chicken eggs in Medan City of North Sumatera has been efficient.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine whether the waste media plant white fermented oyster mushroom can substitute forage on sheep against non-carcass components are feasible eaten. This research was conducted in Namo Trasi Village, Pasar VIII, in October - December 2017 by using local sheep with average weight of 9 ± 0.25 kg. The research design used in this study was a complete randomized design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 5 replicates, consisting of P0 (60% non-wasted greenhouse vegetation fermentation + 40% concentrate), P1 (45% forage and waste) medium planting white oyster mushroom fermentation 15% + concentrate 40%), P2 (forage 30% and waste medium planting white oyster mushroom fermentation 30% + concentrate 40%) and P3 (forage 15% and sewage media plant white fermented oyster mushrooms 45% + 40% concentrate). The parameters observed were weight percentage of head, leg, skin, tail, trachea and lungs, liver, heart, blood, and gastrointestinal tract. The result of the research shows that the waste of fermented white oyster mushroom media can substitute forage as local sheep feed, but it can not increase the percentage of non-carcass component that is feasible to eat.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine effects of production of Brachiaria decumbens grass on different drought stress treatments. Research was conducted at the Greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture University of North Sumatera from  Desember 2016 until April 2017. The design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with three treatments and seven replications. The treatment consisted of three levels of drought stress which were  control (100% field capacity=fc), medium drought stress  (25% fc), and heavy drought stress (50% fc). The variable were fresh weight production, dry weight production and plant height. The results showed that drought stress treatment control (100% fc) significantly (P<0,05) affect fresh weight production, dry weight production, but not plant height. It is concluded that increasing water volume of field capacity increase production Brachiaria decumbens grass.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of extracts of garlic (Allium sativum L.) and ginger (Zingiber officinale) on the growth of broiler chickens infected with E. coli. The design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment consisted of P0A = control without infection, P0B = control + E. coli infection, P1 = E. coli infection + 0.05% tetracycline antibiotics, P2 = E. coli infection + 1% garlic (Allium sativum L.) extract , P3 = E. coli infection + 1% ginger (Zingiber officinale) extract and P4 = E. coli infection + garlic (Allium sativum L) extract and 1% ginger (Zingiber officinale). The results showed that the administration of garlic and ginger extract had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the decrease in the number of Escherichia coli bacteria in broiler chicken feces. The combination of extracts of garlic (Allium sativum L.) and red ginger (Zingiber officinale) has the most effective effect compared to garlic and ginger extract alone. It was concluded that the administration of extracts of garlic and ginger could be used as Escherichia coli control in broiler chickens.

Abstract

Abstract. The demand for pork is related to the supply provided by the market, as well as the ability of farmers and marketing agencies to market livestock products to consumers. Traders plays an important role in determining the sale price of meat and meat offerings. Therefore, research is conducted to find out the marketing process and profit obtained by the final institution. This research was conducted in traditional market of Gunungsitoli City from April to May 2018. The method used in data collection is purposive sampling.In this study, traders who were sampled amounted to 16 people. Analysis includes marketing margins, farmers share, profit pork sharers traders. The results show that there are two marketing channels. Margin on channel two is smaller than channel one. Larger farmers share through two marketing channels is on channel one. Average profit of pork traders for one month per person is Rp.16.699.664,1. Capital factors, working hours, trading experience and the amount of labor affect the profits.

Abstract

Abstract. There is few people who like goat milk, that is why process of making goat milk into ice cream is needed. Therefore, a research has been done at Animal Production Laboratory of Husbandry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatera, from April to May 2018. The design which used in this research is Randomized block design (RAK) with two factors: kefir concentration (P): (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%) and aging time (L): (6, 12, 18, 24 hours). Parameters which observed were overrun, melting time and organoleptic test (color, aroma, texture, taste).The results showed that the interaction between kefir concentration and aging time gave a significant effect to organoleptic result of flavor and did not give significant effect to overrun, melting time and organoleptic results (color, texture, taste). The concentration of  kefir had given significant effect to melting time and organoleptic results (color, aroma, texture, taste) and did not give significant effect to overrun result. The aging time gave a significant effect to overrun, melting time and organoleptic results (color, aroma, texture), and did not give a significant effect on organoleptic taste result. The best result was obtained in addition of kefir extract of red dragon fruit 30% with aging time aged 6 hours on ice cream made of goat milk.
