Abstract

Using traditional medicine growing rapidly lately. One of medicinal plant that have been developedis sabrang shallot (Eleutherine americana Merr.) This research aims for getting the best time anddose application of sabrang shallot. The researched was carried out at Field Trials of AgricultureFaculty North Sumatera University ( ± 25 m dpl) on May-October 2014, using a FactorialRandomized Block design with two factors are time aplication (2 weeks before planting, 1 weekbefore planting and when planting) and dose application of husk (1,5; 3; 4,5; 6 kg/plot or 10, 20, 30,40 ton/ha) by three replication. Data were analized with ANNOVA and continued with DuncanMultiple Range Test (DMRT). The parameters observed were age sprouts, plant height, number ofleaves, age flowering , number of tillers, number of bulbs per sample, wet bulbs weight per sample.The results of research shows that time and dose application of husk were significantly differ forplant height, number of leaves and number of sprouts.Key words : Time application, dose of husk , sabrang shallot.

Abstract

 Provision of sugarcane seed with hight quality bud chips technic be affected by availability of nutriens in the soils requiring fertilization to nutrient requitments sugar cane seed. The research was conducted at nursery PT. Perkebunan Nusantara II Tanjung Jati, Binjai (40-50 meters above sea) from Mei-August 2014 using factorials split plot design with three factors: container nursery (polybag and pottray), dose fertilizer of N (Urea), P (SP-36), K (KCl) (6 g/60 plant, 12 g/60 plant, 18 g/60 plant) and frecuent fertilizer (2 times, 3 times, 4 times). The results showed using polybag effected significantly increase stem hight 32%, number of leaf 18%, stem diameters 48% and number of tillers 51% than using pottray. Dose fertilizers 18 g/60 plant effected significantly to stem hight, number of leaf and stem diameters of. Frecuent fertilizers not effected significantly to all of observed parameters.Keywords : Sugarcane, Containers nursery, Dose and Frecuent fertilizer

Abstract

The aim of the research was to study vegetative growth response of three varieties of palm oil tree at some palm waste as planting medium in pre nursery. The research has been conducted in Kompleks Medan permai on November 2014 to February 2015. The research design used randomized block design with two factor. The first factor was composition palm waste for planting medium (top soil, top soil + fiber 1:1, top soil + empty fruit bunches1:1, top soil + solid decanter 1:1 and top soil + fiber + empty fruit bunches + solid decanter 1:1:1:1) and the second factor was palm tree varieties (Yangambi, Simalungun, and Avros). Result from the research determined that treatment of planting medium significant effect to shoot length and stem diamer (12 and 14 week after showing), shoot wet weight and root dry weight. Yangambi, Simalungun and Avros not responding for planting medium composition. The best planting medium combination from this study were : top soil : fiber : empty fruit bunches : solid decanter (1:1:1:1).Keywords: Varieties, Planting media, palm oil

Abstract

One way to increase the production of dragon fruit is the provide of quality seeds. Used of coconut water, cow urine, and goat urine which is contains the hormone auxin that could potentially increase the growth of seedlings. This research was conducted in Agriculture Faculty University of Sumatra Utara with a height ± 25 m above sea level, which is held in May until July 2015. The research used randomized block design with 2 factors, namely, the type comprised a natural auxin of coconut water, cow urine, goat urine and concentration consisting of 0,25,50,75 and 100% were repeated three times. continiued analyzed used analysis of variance followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5%. The result showed that the type of natural auxin has significantly effect against age emerged shoots and shoots height 30 DAP. The concentration of natural auxin significantly effect against emerged shoots, shoot height 30, 45 DAP, and dry weight of shoots. Interaction between types of natural auxin and concentration has significantly effect against age emerged shoots, and height shoots 30 DAP.Key word : type of natural auxin, concentration of natural auxin. cut dragon fruit

Abstract

Increasing latex production in rubber plants generally used ethrel stimulant that contains the chemical hormone ethylene and the ethrel may be difficult to consumed by the people's plantation (estates) because the price is expensive, and therefore it needed an alternative stimulant treatment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the response latex production at various times applications on rubber clone quick starter treated by stimulant ethylene banana peel. The experiment was conducted for six months, began in September 2015 to Februari 2016 in Sungei Putih Rubber Research Institute, Galang Subdistrict, Deli Serdang regency. Three-Stage Nested Design was applied with three replications. The first step was time application, i.e., a first application, a second application, the second step of clone treatment, i.e., IRR 118 clone, PB 260 clone and the third step was stimulants, i.e., without stimulants, 50, 100, 150, and 200 g ethylene stimulant organic banana peel. Observed parameter was total solids content. The results showed that first application was more bigger than the second application to produced the latex. PB 260 clones were clones that experienced the highest increase in producing due to the provision treatment of stimulants. Abstract

Potassium Nitrat (KNO3) merupakan salah satu perangsang perkecambahan yang sering digunakan. Air kelapa merupakan larutan yang dapat digunakan untuk mempercepat proses perkecambahan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Teknologi Benih Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara Medan dengan ketinggian + 25 meter dpl, dari bulan April sampai Mei 2016, menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan 2 faktor perlakuan. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi KNO3 dengan 4 taraf yaitu 0%, 0,1%, 0,2%, dan 0,3% faktor kedua konsentrasi air kelapa  dengan 3 taraf yaitu 0%, 50%, dan 100%. Parameter pengamatan adalah persentase perkecambahan, laju perkecambahan, indeks vigor, persentase kecambah normal, persentase kecambah abnormal dan persentase biji tidak tumbuh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan konsentrasi KNO3 berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter persentase perkecambahan, laju perkecambahan biji, indeks vigor, persentase kecambah normal dan persentase biji tidak tumbuh. Perlakuan konsentrasi air kelapa berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter persentase perkecambahan, indeks vigor, dan persentase kecambah normal dan persentase biji tidak tumbuh. Interaksi konsentrasi KN03 dan air kelapa berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter persentase perkecambahan, laju perkecambahan biji, indeks vigor, persentase kecambah normal dan persentase biji tidak tumbuh. Peningkatan    viabilitas  biji  delima  dapat  dilakukan  dengan perendaman KNO3 0,1%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan masyarakat di  Jl. Setia Budi, Kecamatan Medan Selayang dengan ketinggian tempat ± 25 meter dpl dari bulan Mei sampai Oktober 2016, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 2 Faktor perlakuan. Faktor pertama adalah varietas dengan 3 jenis yaitu Kidal  (V1); Sari (V2); Beta-2 (V3) dan faktor kedua yaitu pemberian paclobutrazol dengan 5 taraf yaitu; 0,00 cc/l air (P0); 0,25 cc/l air (P1); 0,50 cc/l air (P2); 0,75 cc/l air (P3); dan 1,00 cc/l air (P4). Parameter yang diamati adalah  pertambahan panjang tanaman, bobot basah tanaman per sampel, bobot kering tanaman per sampel, umur berbunga,  jumlah umbi per sampel, bobot umbi per sampel, rataan bobot umbi, dan indeks panen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan varietas berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter pertambahan panjang tanaman  3-8 MST, bobot basah tanaman per sampel, bobot kering tanaman per sampel, umur berbunga, bobot umbi per sampel, rataan bobot umbi dan indeks panen. Pemberian paclobutrazol berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter pertambahan panjang tanaman 4 dan 7 MST, bobot umbi per sampel, rataan bobot umbi dan dan indeks panen. Interaksi antara perlakuan varietas dengan pemberian paclobutrazol berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertambahan panjang tanaman 5 MST, bobot kering tanaman per sampel dan bobot umbi tanaman per sampel. Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the growth and yield the first generation (M1V1) of local shallot Humbang Hasundutan genotypes accession of Tipang irradiated by gamma ray. Research was conducted at Rianiate village, Pangururan Samosir district at altitude ± 1010 meters above sea level began from July up to October 2016. The experiment was arranged by augmented design with six level dosages of gamma irradiation i.e; 0; 2; 4; 6; 8; and 10 Gy. The data was analyzed with T test using Minitab 16 software. The Parameters observed were plant lenght, number of leaves, number of tillers, fresh and dry weight of tubers, and tuber diameter. The result showed, that the genotypes shallot that were irradiated with gamma rays at 8 Gy produced better growth and yield than control plants (unirradiated plants).
