Abstract

The research of land capability classification survey is held on the area of water capturing (DTA) of Danau Toba. Land capability classification is fulfilled by using scoring methods based on the land unit in DTA of Danau Toba.         The scorring of limitation factor of each land unit is held to obtain land capability class. Here are the limitation factors of each land unit: the depth of efectivity land, texture, drainage, permeability, slope, erotion, flood and surface stone.The research outcome shows that there are totally 36 land units which are divided into 8 land capability classes. Land width of the first class is 26.484.59 ha, the second class is      73.422.64 ha, the third class is 32.912.79 ha,  the fourth class is 28.442.06  ha, the fifth class is 21.751.94 ha, the sixth class is 2.749.55 ha,  the seventh class is 618.26 ha and the eight class is 30.155.78  ha.   Keywords: land capability class, land unit, scorring.

Abstract

The objective of this research was study the role of silicate material and phosphat fertilizer inimproving soil chemical charachteristics and plant growth. Andisols material was taken fromagriculture area with horticulture commodity in Kuta Rakyat Village, Naman Teran Subdistrict,Karo Regency. This research used factorial blocky randomized design with 3 block and 2 factors.The silicate material were consisted of four kind are : B0 (control), B1 (Agrosil), B2 (coarse grass),B3 (straw rice). The treatment of phosphate fertilizer consisted of four levels, namely : F0 (0 ppm P),F1 (100 ppm P), F2 (200 ppm P), and F3 (300 ppm P). Silicate material was incubated for 45 daysand then applied P fertilizer. The plant kept until vegatative phase in green house. The result of thisresearch showed that the affect of material silicate of coarse grass was very good in increasing Puptake,diameter of stem, dry weight root,dry weight crown, and height plant. And then straw rice isvery good in decrease P retention and Agrosil is very good in increase SiO2 available. The effect ofP fertilizer is not significant while the effect of interaction of silicate material and P fertilizer onlysignificant in hight plant.Keywords : Andisols, silicate material, and phosphate

Abstract

Field research was conducted applied Agrosil as silicate material and Phosphorus fertilizer forpotato plant to determine the changes of chemical characteristics of Andisols and yield of potato.This research used Factorial Blocky Randomized Design with treatment Si dosage 0 kg SiO2/ha(S0), 750 kg SiO2/ha (S1), 1500 kg SiO2/ha (S2), 2250 kg SiO2/ha (S3), and P fertilizer dosage 0 kgP2O5/ha (P0), 90 kg P2O5/ha (P1), 180 kg P2O5/ha (P2), 270 kg P2O5/ha (P3), so there are sixteencombination and three blocks, so there are fourty eight units treatments. This result showed thatapplied Agrosil could increase soil pH, SiO2 available and decrease P retention. Applied Agrosilcould increase weight and amount of class A tuber(> 100 g/tuber) with the best dosage 1500 kgSiO2/ha at S2 treatment. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objective of this survey is to determine the value of the quality of irrigation water in the villageof Air Hitam in accordance with the value of irrigation water quality by U.S. Salinity LaboratoryStaff, 1954 and Ayers and Westcot, 1985. The research was conducted at the village of Air Hitam,Lima Puluh Subdistric, Batubara Distric, at the geographical of 03022'50" - 03023'6" N and 99050'34"- 99050'24" E. The results of the survey showed that the value of N, P dan Na irrigation water in thevillage of Air Hitam qualifies as irrigation water according to the standard value of Ayers andWestcot, 1985. DHL and SAR values of irrigation water before fertilizing to meet the irrigationwater standards as U.S. Salinity Lab staff.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to study the biological and chemical characteristics of paddy soilcaused of burning rice straw. This research was conducted in Subdistrict Tanjung Morawa, DistrictDeli Serdang, North Sumatera Province. Sampling was done at the public rice field with strawburning over it and Balai Benih Sari Murni which never burning straw. Soil samples were takenunder the heap of burnt straw in three times, i.e after burning soon (0 week after harvesting), 1 and2 week after harvesting to analyze the number of arthropod an microorganisms, soil colour, texture,pH, C-organic, N-total, P-available, and K-exchangable in The Soil Biology, Soil Chemical andFertility, and Research and Technology Laboratory, Agricultural Faculty of North SumateraUniversity, Medan. The results showed that the soil with straw burning over it has the number ofarthropod and microorganism, C-organic, N-total, and P-available is lower than the unburnt soil. pHand K-exchangeable of the burnt soil is higher than the unburnt soil. In 2 weeks afterburning, the number of arthropod and microorganism, C-organic, and P-available gets recoveryfrom before.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research purposed to know the influence of the straw ricew treatmeant and the NPK fertilizerdosage to the chemical nature growth and the field rice production (Oriza Sativa L) to the soil fieldwith the SRI (System of Rice Intensification) system. This research do in Air Hitam village, LimaPuluh Sub District and analyzed in chemical and fertilizer laboratory Agriculture Faculty,University North Sumatera. This research using the draft of separate plot with the main slot of therice straw treatment on the J0 (The rest of the straw left), J1 (straw cleared and embedded), J2(Leftover straw immersed in tripe + manure) and on the sub plot of F0 (without fertilizer). F1 (doseof fertilizer NPK 50%), F2 (dose of fertilizer NPK 100%). From the research result of the strawtreatment influence to the C-organic, total N, P-available, K-exchanged soil, high of plant, numberof filler in the grain weight but not influence to the pH soil and grain weight. The fertilizertreatment influence to the plant hight and the grain weight but not in influence to the pH, C-organic, total N, K-exchanged soil, grain weigh. While the interaction between the straw treatment and thefertilizer treatment only influence the P available.Key words :SRI, straw of rice, NPK fertilizer

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effect of a mixture of cow bone ash with organic acids on Pavailable inceptisol soil and growth of maize (Zea mays L.). The research was conducted in thegreenhouse and analyzed in the laboratory of research and technology of Agriculture Faculty ofNorth Sumatera University of Medan from May-October 2013. The research design was nonfactorialrandomized block design consisting of 13 treatments with 3 replications that is: Control,T1K (cow bone ash 166.7 g), T1S1 (cow bone ash 166.7 g + citric acid 2% 500.1 mL), T1A1 (cowbone ash 166.7 g + acetic acid 2% 500.1 mL), T1L1 (cow bone ash 166.7 g + lactic acid 2%500.1mL), T2K (cow bone ash 333.4 g), T2S2 (cow bone ash 333.4 g + citric acid 2% 1000.2 mL),T2A2 (cow bone ash 333.4 g + acetic acid 2% 1000.2 mL), T2L2 (cow bone ash 333.4 g + lactic acid2% 1000.2 mL), T3K (cow bone ash 500.1 g), T3S3 (cow bone ash 500.1 g + citric acid 2% 1500.3mL), T3A3 (cow bone ash 500.1 g + acetic acid 2% 1500.3 mL), dan T3L3 (cow bone ash 500.1 g +lactic acid 2% 1500.3 mL).The result of research indicated that application of 500.1 g cow bone ash+ citric 1000.2 mL citric acid 2% was the highest increasing soil pH (6.78), P available (20 ppm),P-uptake of plants (0.26 g P/plant), plant shoot dry weight (51.66 g), plant root dry weight (14.23),and plant height (187.27 cm) compared with other treatments.Keywords: Cow Bone, Organic Acid, Phosphate, Inceptisol

Abstract

The research of survey and mapping nutriens status of P2O5 at Kabanjahe sub-district, regensi Karo, aims to determine the spread of the availability of P2O5 in agricultural areas for plants. The survey was conducted using a free grid survey methode with with density 6.25 ha each of the grid and analysis of P2O5 content of 25% HCl extract. Analysis of the levels of P2O5 done in the laboratory of Research and Technology of the North Sumatra University, Medan. The results showed that the P2O5 classified into 5 criteria such as; very low 18.74 ha, 10 ha Low, Medium 70 ha, 140 ha of high and very high 343.75 ha. From the results obtained by laboratory analysis of soil samples with the highest P2O5 content is 2,376 % and lowest content is 0,016 %.Key words: survey, P status, mapping P2O5

Abstract

Qualitative Erosion Studies on The Rubber Cultivation of The People Age 15 Years In the village of Lau Damak Bahorok subdistrict Langkat. The study aims to determine the qualitative erosion in the area of cultivation by using descriptive method with sampling technique based on stratified random sampling method. Research analyzing various parameters such as pH level of soil fertility, texture, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC). Organic C, N-total, P-available, K can be exchanged (K-dd) and Bulk Density. The results show that the qualitative erosion that occurs in the area of rubber cultivation people aged 15 years in the village of Lau Damak Bahorok subdistrict Langkat cause terangkutnya nutrients P and K to the valley as well as the value of the levels of C-organic and N-total high value of land in the back caused by a number of existing litter above the soil surface.Required soil and water conservation efforts in the form of ground cover (cover crop) as well as the manufacture of terracing on slopes to prevent soil erosion.Key words : Descriptive, Qualitative erosion, Stratified Random Sampling.

Abstract

Penelitian yang menguji dua metode pengukuran Aldd, yaitu dengan ekstraktan KCl dan LaCl3 untuk menetapkan kebutuhan kapur di tanah Ultisol. Hasil pengukuran diterapkan pada tanah di rumah kasa menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non faktorial, 7 perlakuan dosis kapur CaCO3 yaitu 0.0 xAldd; 1.0xAldd-KCl; 1.5xAldd-KCl; 2.0xAldd-KCl; 1.0xAldd-LaCl3; 1.5xAldd-LaCl3; 2.0xAldd-LaCl3 dengan 4 ulangan. Kapur diinkubasi selama 14 hari dalam keadaan kapasitas lapang. Tanaman indikator kedelai ditanam hingga fase pertumbuhan vegetatif. Parameter yang diamati adalah pH H2O, pH KCl, tinggi tanaman, volume akar, berat kering tajuk, berat kering akar, dan serapan N, P, K tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan dosis kapur hanya meningkatkan pH H2O dan pH KCl tanah. Kebutuhan kapur tanah Ultisol lebih tepat ditentukan menggunakan Aldd ekstrak KCl 1 N. Kata Kunci : Aldd, KCl, LaCl3, kapur, Ultisol
