Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the effect of empty palm oil bunch compost (EPOBC) andthe application of phosphorus fertilizer of SP-36 on chemical characteristic of acid sulphate soils,rice growth and production (Oryza sativa L.). This study used a randomized block design factorial,with 2 factors: factor 1: compost EPOBC treatment (B) which consist of: B0 = 0 ton ha-1 (0g EPOBC/pot) ; B1 = 10 ton ha-1 (40 g EPOBC/pot); B2 = 20 ton ha-1 (80 g EPOBC/pot);B3 = 30 ton ha-1 (120 g EPOBC/pot) . Factor 2: fertilizer phosphorus (P) which consist of : P0 = 0kg SP-36 ha-1 (0 g SP-36/pot); P1 = ½ dose (1/2 x 135), advice equal with 0,27 g SP-36/pot; P2 = 1,0dose (1 x 135), advice equal with 0,54 g SP-36/pot; P3 = 1 ½ dose (1 1/2 x 135), advice equal with0,81 g SP-36/pot. The results of this research showed that EPOBC treatment significantly affectedsoil pH and Fe2+ reduction, C-organic, seed total and dry weight of rice. While the application ofSP-36 fertilizer non significantly affected P-available and height of plants. Combination betweenEPOBC and fertilizer SP-36 significantly increased seed total and dry weight of rice.Key words: acid sulphate soil, EPOBC, SP-36,rice

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objective of this research was to study the effect of rice straw compost and the application ofphosphorus fertilizer of SP-36 on chemical characteristic of acid sulphate soils, rice growth andproduction (Oryza sativa L). This research was conducted in greenhouse agricultural departments,Universities Northen Sumatera, Medan. This study used a randomized block design factorial, with2 factors : factor 1 : rice straw compost treatment (J) wich consist of : J0 = 0 ton ha-1(0 g straw/pot); J1 = 10 ton ha-1 (40 g straw/pot); J2 = 20 ton ha-1 (80 g straw /pot); J3 = 30 ton ha-1(120 g straw/pot). Faktor 2 : fertilizer phosphorus (P) which consist of : P0 = 0 kg SP-36 ha-1(0 g SP-36/pot); P1 = 0.5 dose (0.5 x 135 kg/ha), advice equal with 0,27 g SP-36/pot;P2 = 1,0 dose (1 x 135 kg/ha), advice equal with 0,54 g SP-36/pot; P3 = 1.5 dose (1.5 x 135 kg/ha),advice equal with 0,81 g SP-36/pot. This results of the research showed that rice straw composttreatment significantly affected C-organic, Fe2+ reduction, the maximum seedlings, dry weight ofroot. Abstract

This research was aimed to determine whether composting organic materials and varieties of riceplants of different IP 400 can reduce the rate of air temperature in rice vegetative phase and also toknow which varieties or organic matter are likely to be better in reducing the rate of air temperatureand increase rice production IP 400. This research was conducted in paddy fields and DevelopmentResearch Institute, Village Market District Leaning Fence Merbau Deli Serdang (30 29 '51.33 "Nand 980 54' 19.87" E) with a height of 30 meters above sea level where conducted from February2012 to complete. This research used a randomized block design factorial with six combinations oftreatments and three replications thus obtained eighteen experimental unit. Treatment consists ofV1B0 (Inpari 1 + Without Organic Materials), V1B1 (Inpari 1 + straw compost 9 kg), V1B2 (Inpari 1+ Cow Manure 9 kg), V2B0 (Ciherang + Without Organic Materials), V2B1 (Ciherang + Compoststraw 9 kg), V2B2 (Ciherang + Cow manure 9 kg). The results of this research indicate varieties ofrice IP 400 and composted organic materials that have been able to suppress the air temperature andincrease rice production IP 400, but did not suppress emission rate at 35 days after planting.Keywords: IP 400, cow manure, straw compost, air temperature

Abstract

ABSTRACTAn experimental research was done to measure the nutrient use efficiency (NUE) of Phosphorus (P)in Andisols and Ultisols. The research was conducted in Screenhouse and Research and TechnologyLaboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatera from September 2012 until July2013. It was arranged in Non-factorial Randomized Block Design with 6 dosages of PhosphorusFertilizer (SP-36) in Andisols and Ultisols (0; 0,4; 0,8; 1,2; 1,6; and 2,0 grams of SP-36/plant). The intertreatments effects were analyzed using DMRT.The results showed thatRecovery Efficiency (RE) and Agronomic Efficiency (AE) in Ultisols are higher than in Andisols,meanwhile Physiological Efficiency (PE) in Andisols is higher. RE and AE were decreased as aresult of increasing dosage of SP-36 meanwhile PE was increased. The best treatment in Andisolsand Ultisols is 0,8 grams SP-36/plant. In Andisols, productivity of maize at that treatment is 109,23grams/plant (7,28 tons/Ha); RE (11,55%); PE (576,67 grams dry weight cob of maize /g P2O5);and AE (66,68 grams dry weight cob of maize /g P2O5). In Ultisols, productivity of maize at thattreatment is 67,30 grams/plant (4,48 tons/Ha); RE (15,16%); PE (589,29 grams dry weight cob ofmaize /g P2O5); and AE (88,94 grams dry weight cob of maize /g P2O5)Key words : Nutrient Use Efficiency (NUE), phosphorus (P), andisols, and ultisols

Abstract

ABSTRACTMapping of Phosphorus and Potassium status on Pineapple people plantations in the villagePanribuan Sub District Dolok Silau District Simalungun Leading by Ir. Razali, MP. andIr. Fauzi, MP. This research purpose to make a mapping phosphorus and potassium status onPineapple people plantations in the village Panribuan Sub Dolok Silau Simalungun District. Theresearch started to do on October 2012 until January 2013. Method of taking sample used the freemethod grid survey with detail scale and use correlation method to analysis data, with interpretatingin mapping Nitrogen and C-Organic. Parameters to be analyzed are P2O5 and K2O.The result ofresearch shows that P2O5 status devided by four status ; low (6.5 Ha), medium (11.63 Ha), high (8.7Ha) and very high (8.61 Ha. K2O devided by four status ; very low (20.09 Ha), low (11.76 Ha),medium (3.28 Ha), and high (0.31 Ha). Satistic analysis using SPSS known that the no effect on anincrease in production by P2O5 but K2O give effect on an decrease in pineapple production.Keywords : mapping, P2O5, K2O, and production

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the influencing of the Husk-pulp compost of Duriozibethinus to Typic Hydraquent, Umbrik Dystrudept, dan Typic Kandiudult on some the soilfertility aspect (pH, C organic, and N total) and the maize production. The experiment wasconducted at the green house, at Laboratory of Chemistry and Soil Fertility, and Research andTechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan. Groun planof experiment was maked agree with Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 factors and 3replications, namely durio husk-pulp compost consist which of 5 levels: D0 (0 g), D1 (109,5 g), D2(219 g), D3 (328,5 g), D4 (438 g) and soil’s ordos, which consist of 3 levels, that are: T1 (TypicHydraquent), T2 (Umbrik Dystrudept), dan T3 (Typic Kandiudult), and 3 replications to meet 45experimental units.The results of this research showed that the increasing bend of Typic Hydraquentwas been the highest of them because of the increasing of the durio husk-pulp compost’s doses, theincreasing bend of Typic Hydraquent, Umbrik Dystrudept, and Typic Kandiudult’s C organic werebeen same relativy because of the increasing of the durio husk-pulp compost’s doses, the increasingbend of Umbrik Dystrudept and Typic Kandiudult’s N total were been same relativy because of theincreasing of the durio husk-pulp compost’s doses, except to the increasing bend of TypicHydraquent’s N total, and maize dry-weights in Typic Hydraquent, Umbrik Dystrudept, and TypicKandiudult are several increase until the same doses.

Abstract

The research was conducted to examine P-available of paddy soil potential of acid sulfate withBray II, Truog and Olsen. The research held in Seed Technology Laboratory (seeding), green houseand also in Research and Technology Laboratory Agriculture Faculty University of SumateraUtara. The research used non factorial Randomized Block Design with 3 repetition, which as mainfactor is the giving of Natural Phosphate with 9 kind of dosages, that is: 0, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250,300, 350, and 400 ppm. The giving of Natural Phosphate was significant to the phosphorus sorptionwith the best dosage is P7 (350 ppm) and pH with the best dosage is P8 (400 ppm). The examiningof P-available from the giving of natural phosphate results that the value of P-available by usingBray II and Truog method was higher than the value of P-available by using Olsen method, andthere is no appropriate value of P critical limit for each method.Keywords: P-Available, acid sulfate soil, potential

Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of application organic matter and rock phosphate toimprove soil chemical characteristic, growth and production of rice plant in acid sulphate soils, it isrelated to acid sulphate soils case, such as low pH, high iron (Fe2+) making less production. It isconducted in Faculty of Agriculturegreenhouses, University of North Sumatra, using a randomizedblock design factorial, with 2 factors; organic matter (B), B0 =(0 g /pot); B1 = (40 g straw /pot); B2= (80 g straw/pot); B3 = (40 g cow’s manure/pot); B4 = (80 g cow’s manure/pot); B5 = (26,7 gstraw + 53,3 g cow’s manure/pot) and rock phosphate (P), P0 = (0 g /pot); P1 = (0,64 g rockphosphate /pot); P2 = (1,28 g rock phosphate /pot). The measured parameters were pH, C-organic,P-avaliable, Fe2+, plant height, maximum seedlings and weight of dried grains. The results showedthat organic matter application significantly affected in increasing pH, P-avaliable,maximumseedlings, plant height, weight of dried grains and decreasing Fe2+at final vegetative phase. Rockphosphate application significantly affected in increasing pH, P-avaliable, weight of dried grainsand decreasing Fe2+at final vegetative phase. Combination of the two factors significantly affectedin increasing pH, P-avaliable, maximum seedlings, plant height, weight of dried grains anddecreasing Fe2+at final vegetative phase.Key words: acid sulphate soils, rice plant, organic matter, rock phosphate

Abstract

This research aims to know the difference of level of C-Organic, N and P in Humitropepts atdifferent altitudes in sub-district of Lintong Nihuta. The study done in sub-district of LintongNihuta at altitudes of 1300 to > 1500 meters above sea level in September – November 2013. Theresults showed that the C-Organic and N-total of Humitropepts sub-district of Lintong Nihuta tendto rise along with the added altitude and tend to decrease when increasing the depth of the soil. Incontrast, P-available tends to decreases with increasing altitude and the moment we get tend toincrease the depth of the soil.Key words: c-organic, nitrogen, phosphate, humitropepts, altitude.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of compost tea application and composition enriched oil palm empty fruit bunches Azotobacter in increasing the production of mustard. This research used a non-factorial randomized block design with 11 treatment and 3 replication. A: control, without TKKS compost, without coconut water. B: 150 gr TKKS, without coconut waterand molases. C: 150 gr TKKS, 1500 ml coconut water and 3500 ml aquadest.D: 300 gr TKKS, 3000 ml coconut water and 2000 ml aquadest,. E: 450 gr TKKS, 4500 ml coconut water and 500 ml aquadest,. F: 150 gr TKKS, 1500 ml coconut water and 3500 ml aquadest, molases 2%. G: 300 gr TKKS, 3000 ml coconut water and 2000 ml aquadest, molases 2 %. H:450gr TKKS, 4500 ml air kelapa dan 500 ml aquadest, molases 2 %. I:150grTKKS, 1500 ml coconut water and 3500 ml aquadest, molases 4 %. J: 300 gr TKKS, 3000 ml coconut water and 2000 ml aquadest,molases 4 %. K: 450 gr TKKS, 4500 ml coconut water and 500 ml aquadest, molases 4 %. The next data is analyzed by ANOVA parameters and in the advanced test for real treatment using DMRT. The results of research showed that the composition of the compost with different doses provide no real influence to the high, leaf lenght and width of the leave of plantKeywords : Oil-Palm Empty Fruit Bunch Compost, compost tea, molasse
