Abstract

The City without Slums Program (KotaKu) in Samarinda Sebrang Ketupat Village has been running for one year. Weaving villages are classified as slums. The general objective of this program is to increase access to infrastructure and basic services in urban slums to support the realization of habitable, productive and sustainable urban settlements. The research method uses qualitative with in-depth interview techniques with key informants and informants and observations. The results of the study pursed on three concepts of the approach used by the KotaKu team in communicating messages to the people of the weaving village; monologic communication, dialogic communication and multitract communication. The collaboration of these three participatory communication approaches is an effective way to change people's behavior and paradigms to change their lifestyle, habits become healthier and cleaner. The suggestion for this research is that the government should carry out continuous monitoring to see the condition after the weaving village is improved.

Abstract

Indonesia has becoming one of the countries with highest rate in Covid-19 transmission and part of 15 biggest countries in the world with highest death rate because of it. Various efforts have been conducting to persuade people such as delivering the Covid-19 education messages by new media TikTok.  This research is a qualitative research with content analysis as the method. The object choosen are three video in new media TikTok that come from the point of view of the health workers, family of the health workers and society. The theory used is The Persuasive Theory. The results show that the persuasive carried out through the research object used an evidence-based approach, using humor and based on diction. Based on diction is carried out from the side of the health worker family members. Based on the evidence is carried out from the point of view of people affected by the virus. The humor approach is carried out from the perspective of medical personnel. The message structure contained in the video object shows uniformity, including the presentation of messages consisting of one-sided, the order in which the message is presented using the climax flow and drawing conclusions that indicate the message is expressed or addressed directly.

Abstract

Instagram is a social media that is very popular with teenagers. Through its features, adolescents can show themselves (self-­disclosure), including in presenting a hedonic lifestyle. The purpose of this study was to determine, describe and analyze self-­‐‑disclosure about the hedonistic lifestyle of SMA Negeri 1 Samarinda adolescents on social media Instagram. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The research focus refers to the dimension of self-­disclosure based on aspects of the hedonic lifestyle. The results showed that the adolescents of SMA Negeri 1 Samarinda were active in self-disclosure about their activities spending time outside the home. This study also analyzes the negative impact of self-­disclosure about a hedonic lifestyle, namely the existence of bad assessments of adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Samarinda from other Instagram users. While the positive impact is the number of new friendships that have been established. There is no motivation and goals that underlie the teenagers of SMA Negeri 1 Samarinda to open themselves about the hedonistic lifestyle.

Abstract

Informasi di era digital menjadi kebutuhan primer bagi masyarakat. Ruang digital memberikan ruang bagi lalu lintas informasi yang tinggi, sehingga rentan dengan keberadaan informasi yang tak jelas sumbernya cenderung provokatif misalnya hoax. Kegiatan literasi diperlukan untuk berjalan seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi. Terutama di Kalimantan Timur kondisi kegiatan literasi masih minim dilakukan sehingga tidak diiringin dengan kemampuan literasi public.Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif dengan pengambilan informan menggunakan metode purposive sampling, dengan jumlah enam informan mahasiswa dari tiga kampus berbeda.Hasil penelitian menggunakan dua konsep literasi yaitu critical understanding dan community abilities. Critical understanding yang ditemukan adalah mayoritas informan sudah memiliki kemampuan berfikir keritis saat menerima informasi yang mencurigai. Caranya adalah dengan melakukan pembanding dengan sumber berita lainya. Sedangkan communities abilities yang ditemukan adalah mayoritas informan aktif mendiskusikan, mengedukasi lingkungan terdekat mereka tentang cara mengidentifikasi hoax.

Abstract

Analyze the use of information technology in improving the public service of PT Pos Indonesia in the border area of Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The research focuses include transparency, participation, and efficiency. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques were carried out by means of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the use of information technology in improving the public service of PT Pos Indonesia in the border area of Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, is carried out in three main steps, namely transparency, participation and efficiency. The transparency process carried out by PT Pos Indonesia in the border area of Nunukan Regency to improve public services is by making Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), creating information about how to use the application, and highlighting three main characteristics in services, namely easy access, authentic evidence. , and the principle of honesty. The participatory process carried out by PT Pos Indonesia in the border area of Nunukan Regency to improve public services is to create a complaint service and provide responses to any input provided. The efficiency process carried out by PT Pos Indonesia in the border area of Nunukan Regency is carried out in several steps, namely by updating the application and secondly by minimizing errors in the service process. This process has been able to improve public services, because it can be proven by the number of Pospay application users up to 79 partners and Pos Remittance totaling 15 partners with details of 7 money order partners and 8 money order partners.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of new media literacy and the ability to recognize opinions in editorial news texts in new mass media. This study used a quantitative research method by distributing questionnaires to 98 students at Mulawarman University. In this study it was found that the media literacy variable had a significant effect on the ability to recognize opinions. This is evidenced by the results of research using a simple linear regression test. First, the significant results must be less than 0.05, in this study sig. is 0.017 and the second, from the results of t count must be greater than t table, namely 2.433 > 1.984. Because of the results of this study, it was concluded that there is an effect of media literacy on the ability to recognize opinions in editorial news texts in new mass media.

Abstract

Digital literacy in Indonesia is an issue that continues to be promoted, considering that the government continues to encourage the improvement of communication and information technology infrastructure. Indonesia still has digital literacy competencies that fall into the "adequate" category which means "not good", therefore this paper tries to see the extent of understanding of students from the social and political science faculty of Mulawarman University about digital literacy through mass communication courses. This research uses the method of filling out pre-test and post-test questionnaires using blended learning, namely collaboration in providing teaching materials using offline and online methods using learning videos. The result is an increase in understanding related to the 4 pillars of digital literacy belonging to the Ministry of Communication and Information; digital skills, digital culture, digital ethics, and digital security. Most students have sufficient understanding of digital literacy.

Abstract

The development of the internet and Instagram social media can be utilized as a digital marketing communication strategy. One of the utilization of Instagram social media as a marketing communication medium is to increase customer engagement. One business that also utilizes Instagram social media to increase customer engagement is a shoe laundry service. The purpose of this study is to determine the utilization of Instagram social media in increasing customer engagement of Beda Sepatunya. The type of research used is descriptive research, namely research that makes observations and extracts information. The data sources in this study are primary data and secondary data. The data collection techniques in this research are interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is based on the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana interactive model analysis technique, namely data collection, data condensation, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that the frequency and consistency of Beda Shoes in managing its Instagram account is still very low, the stage of customer engagement on the Instagram account of Beda Shoes is at the Experiential Engagement stage, namely the customer has shown his involvement with Beda Shoes through Instagram social media but is only limited to liking activities and giving positive comments on Beda Shoes posts. There are still no actions such as posting photos or videos about Beda Shoes.& content exchange are not applied. Some of these models are used to maintain Kahe.id customer engagement.

Abstract

Instagram Close Friends Feature as Self Disclosure of University Communication Science Students Experiencing Social Media Anxiety. The purpose of this study was to describe the Instagram close friends feature as self-disclosure for Mulawarman University Communication Science students who experience social media anxiety. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research method. The research focus refers to five aspects of self-disclosure according to Wheeles and Grotz (1976), namely purpose, amount, valence, accuracy and honesty, and depth. The data collection techniques used were observation, interview, and documentation. The stages of data analysis were carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing and verification. The results showed the purpose of Mulawarman University Communication Science students using close friends as self-disclosure to channel ideas, information, emotions, complaints, outpourings, opinions, hobbies, romantic relationships, entertainment. All informants have anxiety when expressing themselves on social media, especially public Instagram. There is no difference in self-disclosure between men and women. The amount of self-disclosure carried out, in a day they upload a minimum of two posts or more on the close friends feature depending on the mood. The valence of self-disclosure is positive and negative. All informants have carefulness in controlling their self-disclosure, the information disclosed is honest and not exaggerated. They select close friends followers based on peers who are familiar and can be trusted to maintain each other's privacy information.
