Abstract

On direct steam destilation type, destillation temperature needs to be considered. The temperature determines the quality of destilation product. This study tested various temperature on destillation of volatile oil in direct steam type destilation. The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Agricultural Engineering and analysis was done in Food Chemical Analysis Laboratorium Faculty of Agricultural in September 2014 to October 2014 A non-factorial completely randomized design with 95°C, 100°C and 105°C was used. Parameters measured were water content, free fatty acid and yield. The results showed that the temperature had  significant effect on yield. The best treatment was the U3 treatment (105°C) which produced 21,1% water content, and 0,44% yield. Key word: Destillation temperature, direct steam, patchouli oil

Abstract

Field eficiency and production cost in this research was to get information on rice field tillage using two-wheels tractor, to calculate effective field capacity and field efficiency, fuel consumption and production cost of tillage using some rice field tillage tools. This research used non-factorial completely random design with treatment of plow types (P) consisted of three types i.e: (P1= Singkal plow, P2= Rotary plow I, P3= Rotary plow II). The parameters were field capacity, fuel consumption, tractor efficiency, and economic analysis. The results showed that the treatments of rice field tillage gave significant effect on effective field capacity, efficiency and fuel consumption. The highest effective field capacity of all the rice field tillage was on field 1 and field 3. The highest tillage efficiency was on field 2. The highest fuel consumption was on field 3. Keywords: plow, rice field, tractor.

Abstract

Briquette is one of the biomass fuel. Briquette is used as an alternative energy sources which is very simple and inexpensive. Biomass used in this research were rice husk and tea waste. The aim of this research was to find composition of  Bio-Carbon Briquette processing of rice husk and tea waste and to determine the best Bio one. Testing was conducted using a non-factorial completely randomized design with parameters of water content, density, firmness press, calorific value, and ash content. The results of this research showed that the composition of the briquette materials was unaffected the water content and had highly significant effect on density, firmness press, calorific value, and ash content. The best water content in this research was 5.80%, that met Japanese, America, England and Indonesia standards. The Density value was 0.75 g / cm3 which dit not met briquettes of Japanese, America, England and Indonesia standards. The best of fumness press in this research was 2.37kg/cm2did not met the standards of briquette of Japanese, America, England and Indonesia. The best of calofic value in this research was 5661.41 kal/gr that met the standards of briquette of Indonesia, but did not met standards of briquette of Japanese, England, and America. The best of ash content valuein the research was 5.876% that met the standards of briquette of Indonesia, Japanese, England and America. Keywords : briquette, biomass, rice husk and tea waste.

Abstract

Drying of grated coconut is a food processing technology that can produce healthy food without much changing it’s original nature like taste, aroma, color and nutrient of the food. This research was aimed at testing the temperature drying on the quality of the desiccated coconut dried in desiccated coconut dryer. Therefore, a research had been conducted using a non- factorial completely randomized design with drying temperature of (100⁰C, 110⁰C, 120⁰C and 130⁰C). Parameters observed were moisture content, yield and organoleptic tests. The results showed that drying temperature had significant effect on water content, yield and color and had no significant effect on aroma and overall acceptance. The best results were obtained at a temperature of 130⁰C. Keywords: Desiccated Coconut, Dryer , Temperature
