Abstract

On Oil Press type candlenut heaters, heating temperature needs to be considered. The temperature determines the quality of the heating product. This study tested various temperature of candlenut heaters on the yield and quality of hazelnut. The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Agricultural Engineering and analysis of was done in Food Chemical Analysis Laboratorium Faculty of Agricultural in December 2013 to February 2014 by using a non-factorial completely randomized design at 50°C, 60°C and 70°C. Parameters measured were water content, free fatty acid and yield. The results showed that the temperature had highly significant effect on water content, free fatty acid and yield. The best treatment was the S3 treatment (70°C) which produced 0,19% water content, 1,09 free fatty acid and 45,1% pure oil. Keywords: candlenut heaters, temperature test, candlenut oil quality.

Abstract

At this time peeling pineapple fruit is known only through manual tools by kitchen knife. However, later on pineapple peeler has begun to be developed in the form of pineapple peeler manually press by using human operator. With the development of science and technology in this modern age, human  beings that have the potential to think will always develop and trying to create or make a new, more efficient and practical equipment that can help or even replacing human power with the agricultural machinery. Therefore through design in this research, the author tried to ease the peeling of pineapple skin by designing a pineapple peeler machine which had a larger capacity and without human power which be more effective and efficient in peeling pineapple. This principle of the pineapple peeler machine was worked that pineapples were embedded in the blade player who spins the fruit and withheld by the retaining lever and then the blades that have been mounted on a holder would come down to peel the fruit  that suited to its size. This machine can peel all kind of ripe pineapple fruit-size. The capacity of this pineapple peeler machine was 31,57 kg/hour. Keywords : blade, equipment design, pineapple peeler

Abstract

The processing of food preservation to increase food (fish) storage abilityis interested to be known. One kind of the preservation is by drying. This research aimed to design, make, test and analyze cabinet dryer economyc value. Parameters observed were fish moisture contents, equipment capacity, and economic analysis. It was found from the research that fish moisture contents after dryin (dry base) was 38,69%. Capacity of the cabinet dryer was 0,92 kg/hour. Economic analysis, main cost to dry 1 kg fish was Rp. 6.285,4. Break event point (BEP) was 381,49 kg/year. Internal rate of return (IRR) was 59,77%. Keywords : Pora-pora fish (mystacoleucus padangensis), fish drying , cabinet dryer.

Abstract

Identification of banana maturity is still done manually by the farmers. This leads to a lack of accuracy of identification in large amounts. This study was conducted to build a system capable of identifying ripeness of bananas using neural networks with image processing. The input images were bananas which were identified based on color histogram (RGB) and thent the program wasbuilt using visual basic. The system was trained with some banana image data that have different values in each classification in order to identify the level of maturity of the bananas with backpropagation method. From the identification that had been done it was found that the success rate was 100% for raw banana, almost ripe was 80%, ripe was 100% and over ripe was 100%. The identification results wass influenced by the way of taking pictures of fruit. Keyword : Artificial neural network, back propagation, banana, identification, Image processing,

Abstract

Seat is one of the dominant factors to get a job perform conveniently on a four-wheel tractor by operator. It is therefore necessary to design a seat that fits the dimensions of Indonesian’s body in general, as the tractor in Indonesia is made overseas. This research was conducted by measuring the dimensions of the body 100 correspondents that were taken randomly. The data collected were popliteal height, buttock-distance popliteal height, shoulder span, span between the elbow rest position, high elbow resting position, the shoulder height and weight. The results showed that high current cushion was 50 cm high while the proposed was 46 cm. The current length of the cushion was 38.5 cm while the proposed was 46 cm, width of the cushion was currently was 46.5 cm while the proposed was 38.4 cm, high backrest c current was 47.5 cm while the proposed was 23 cm and the proposed was load 60-70 kg. Keywords: tractor, anthropometry, seat

Abstract

Drying of grated coconut is a food processing technology that can produce healthy food without much changing it’s original nature like taste, aroma, color and nutrient of the food. This research was aimed at testing the temperature drying on the quality of the desiccated coconut dried in desiccated coconut dryer. Therefore, a research had been conducted using a non- factorial completely randomized design with drying temperature of (100⁰C, 110⁰C, 120⁰C and 130⁰C). Parameters observed were moisture content, yield and organoleptic tests. The results showed that drying temperature had significant effect on water content, yield and color and had no significant effect on aroma and overall acceptance. The best results were obtained at a temperature of 130⁰C. Keywords: Desiccated Coconut, Dryer , Temperature

Abstract

The water requirement of rice crop is compose of saturation, percolation, flooding and evapotranspiration. The amount of evapotranspiration can be determined based on the value of potential evaporation and the rice crop coefficient values for each period of growth. This study was aimed to assess the value of evapotranspiration and coefficient of IR64 iice  (var. Oryza sativa L.) in green house with inundation of 5 cm and 10 cm high. The results showed that the value of the coefficient of the rice plant at 5 cm water level was 0.96 in early growth phase, 0.88 in the phase of active growth, 0.84 in reproductive growth phase, and 0.56 in the ripening phase, while for the water level of 10 cm was 1.03 in the early growth phase, 1.10 in the active growth phase, 1.03 in reproductive growth phase, and 0.71 in the ripening phase. Average of rice productivity was 746.7 grains/plots for the water level 5 cm, and at 10 cm was 723.1 grains/plot. Inundation height of 5 cm could save water by 50% compared to 10 cm high inundation. Keywords: Evapotranspiration, green house, plant coefficient, rice
