Abstract

Cianjur District is one area that has the potential to produce rice, especially in the lowlands because it has a large area of ​​rice harvest area in Cianjur Regency. Based on BPS data for 2018, Cianjur District has an area of ​​rice harvesting area of ​​2,501 Ha. According to the Programa Subdistrict of Cianjur in 2018, farmers who had applied the IPM concept were 81%. The data shows that more than half of the farmers in Cianjur District have applied the IPM concept. The research aims to describe the level of technology adoption in integrated pest control using refugia plants, analyze factors related to the rate of technology adoption, and formulate strategies to increase technology adoption in integrated pest control by using refugia plants in rice cultivation. The study was conducted in Cianjur Subdistrict Cianjur Regency in March to July 2020. The research sample was 41 rice farmers taken using purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis, multiple linear regression analysis, and a strategy model for developing farmers' adoption rates. The results showed that the level of technology adoption in integrated pest control using refugia plants in rice cultivation in Cianjur District was included in the medium category with a percentage (80 , 5%), so it needs to be increased again. Factors that influence the level of technology adoption in integrated pest control using refugia plants in rice cultivation are length of time and relative profit. The strategy to increase the level of technology adoption in the use of refugia plants as integrated pest control is to strengthen extension activities by increasing extension intensity, extension methods through demonstration methods and demonstration plots, and extension materials and media that are more suited to farmers' needs.

Abstract

The empowerment of farmers in the application of the Legowo range must be increased. Farmer empowerment that has been applied in agricultural activities, especially in the cultivation of lowland rice is not appropriate and optimal. Therefore, farmer empowerment that includes knowledge, attitudes and skills must be improved to increase farmer productivity and income. This study aims to improve the empowerment of farmers in the application of the Legowo row system. This research was conducted in March-July 2020. The research location was determined intentionally in Babakankaret Village, Cianjur Regency, Cianjur Regency, West Java Province with a sample of farmers who cultivated lowland rice. Determination of selected population areas intentionally with the following criteria 1) potential area for lowland rice farming and the majority of the population involved in lowland rice, 2) farmer groups that have received the SL-PTT (Integrated Crop Management Field School) program, and 3) time, energy and cost constraints. The number of respondents was 49 farmers from three groups of farmers. Data collection is done through observation, questionnaire distribution, interviews, and literature studies. Descriptive analysis is used to explain farmer empowerment, regression analysis is used to find out the factors that influence each indicator in individual characteristics and counseling support for farmer empowerment in implementing the legowo line system, while W Kendall's analysis is used to determine priority issues made into counseling material or topic for increase the empowerment of farmers in the application of the Legowo row system. The results of the analysis show that the level of farmer empowerment is included in the medium category, and the area of ​​land from individual characteristic factors and the frequency of counseling from extension support has a significant effect on farmer empowerment. In designing strategies to increase the empowerment of farmers in the application of the Legowo row system, this is done by providing counseling to increase the frequency of counseling as well as providing suggestions for utilizing cultivated land to implement the Legowo row system.

Abstract

Pests attack at Cilawu Subdistrict had increases cases, pests attack because of climate change. The adoption of integrated pest control technology in Cilawu District is relatively low, so a strategy is needed to increase the level of application of horticultural commodity technology. This study analyze the level of farmer adoption of refugia plant as Integrated Pest Controls (IPM), identified factors caused an strategies adoption of refugia plant use at chili farmer. This study held on April till June 2021 used intstrument questionnaire to collect all data and analize used descriptive an reggresion. The research data consisted of primary data with data collection plus interviews with chili farmers, and secondary data from local institutions. The primary data analysis method used descriptive and regression analysis. The study involved 61 people as research respondents who were members of farmer groups. The adoption of integrated pest control technology in Cilawu District is low so there is a need for a strategy to increase the level of application of horticultural crop commodity technology. The adoption level of technology at Cilawu Subdistrict are low level and need improvement to raise the tecnology horticultural cultivation. Pests controls use the refugia plant push the balances of ecosystem an decrease the pests attact. The result of the analysis showed adoption of technology are high. Factors affect the adoption are number of family and the information services. Strategies to improve level of adoption based on analaysis to increase the adoption are information strenghtening by exstension, discussion an by model demo plot.
