Abstract

Abstract The mother figure has always been an inspiration in writing literary works in Indonesia. One is the short story "Rembulan di Mata Ibu" by Asma Nadia. This paper intends to explain and analyze the mother figure and what factors shape the mother’s character in the short story. The method used is a qualitative method. The data were taken from the short story "Rembulan di Mata Ibu" by Asma Nadia in 2002. The results showed a change in character experienced by the mother. In the beginning, Mother’s image is a conventional character. However, at the end of the story, the picture of Mother is a far-sighted character. The five characters appeared in the mother figure, namely a strong figure, a fierce and selfish figure, a restrained figure, a person who was not open-minded, and affectionate figure. Two factors that shape the mother's character are economic factors and family factors. Keywords: Mother, Short Story, Rembulan di Mata Ibu   Abstrak Figur ibu selalu menjadi insipirasi dalam penulisan karya sastra di Indonesia. Salah satunya adalah cerpen “Rembulan di Mata Ibu’ karya Asma Nadia. Tulisan ini bermaksud menjelaskan dan menganalisis figur ibu dan faktor-faktor apa saja yang membentuk karakter tokoh ibu dalam cerpen tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Data diambil dari cerpen “Rembulan di Mata Ibu” karya Asma Nadia tahun 2002. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada perubahan karakter yang dialami oleh Ibu. Di awal cerita, Ibu digambarkan sebagai tokoh yang konvensional. Namun di akhir cerita, Ibu digambarkan sebagai tokoh yang berpikiran jauh ke depan. Ada lima karakter yang muncul pada sosok ibu, yaitu sosok yang kuat, galak dan egois, pengekang, tidak berpikiran terbuka, dan penyayang. Faktor-faktor yang membentuk karakter ibu ada dua, yaitu faktor ekonomi dan keluarga.Kata-kata Kunci: Ibu, Cerpen, Rembulan di Mata Ibu, karakter
