Abstract

This study uses a naturalistic qualitative approach to describe the management of human resources for educators at the Education Office of Central Lombok Regency in a complete, natural and in-depth manner. The Education Office of Central Lombok Regency in planning and recruiting educators by evaluating and analyzing the needs of teacher shortages in each school based on the teacher needs proposed by the school principals. Then coordinate in the form of meetings, meetings and joint deliberation in order to propose planning for educators proposed by the school. Planning for the needs of educators (teachers) at the Education Office of Central Lombok Regency, includes two things: (1) the planning process for teacher needs aims to ensure the fulfillment of needs in organizational units, planning is carried out by analyzing internal and external factors, such as resource and teacher needs . After the planning is done, it is known that the required manpower with a certain level of ability or skill is known; (2) analysis of teacher needs. The planning starts from the analysis of currently available teacher resources. The analysis includes two things, namely; job descriptions and job specifications. A job description describes the tasks or work performed, while a job specification includes the skills and abilities needed to carry out the task. In terms of recruitment of educators, the Education Office of Central Lombok Regency is based on the needs of educators by using academic, administrative, health and qualification selections that have been determined, in its implementation it still depends on the provisions of the Education and Training Personnel Agency (BKPP) of Central Lombok Regency. its nature is only to plan human resources and propose employees who have been previously planned, while the recruitment process is carried out by the regional personnel agency. Thus the Education Office of Central Lombok Regency as one of the organizations or institutions implementing regional autonomy authority in the field of education, has a very strategic function in managing the implementation of the education system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of IT-based teaching materials on students' collaboration and communication skills when working with chemical bonding materials. It was a quantitative experimental study that used the problem-based learning (PBL) model. Field trials were performed in the experimental class (class X A) and the control class (class X B). These samples were determined through Saturated Sampling and Quasi-experiments design pretest, posttest, and Non-Equivalent Control Group design. Furthermore, the data were collected from the student communication and collaboration observation research sheet and were analyzed using an ANOVA test. The results showed that students' communication and collaboration skills in the experimental class increased, with an average score of 40 to 71.75 for student communication and 89.97 for student collaboration. As for the control class, the average score was from 41 to 45.67 for student communication, and the average score was 63.33 for student collaboration. The results of this study can be used as input for teachers and pre-service teachers to choose appropriate teaching materials to train students' communication and collaboration skills.

Abstract

The current research intends to clarify the lab activities program of Basic Chemistry course (including its planning and implementation) at Science Education Department of IAIN Mataram and the factors affecting the quality of the program in order to maximize students’ learning achievement. It is a qualitative research where that data are obtained from students, lecturers, and laboratory assistances. The research found the following remarks: 1) the planning process shows that students have weaknesses on their understanding of the topic being practiced, their capability on using the tools and stuff used in the practices, and on the quantity of consultation to laboratory assistances; 2) During the implementation process, there some blind spots such as inadequate equipment to do lab activities, students’ difficulties in compiling report, unsynchronized schedule of lab activities, and inadequate explanation and consultation to supporting lecturers and laboratory assistances. To anticipate the problems above, an intensive evaluation is held together with students, laboratory assistances, and supporting lecturers to optimize their roles. The factors contributing to the quality of the lab activity are student motivation, the lecturers and laboratory assistances contributions, and the lab equipment.

Abstract

Limitations in the form of teaching materials as learning resources in chemistry learning is a problem that occurs quite seriously in secondary schools and in tertiary institutions so the ethnochemistry approach is one form of modification in the development of contextual chemistry teaching materials. This study aims to analyze chemistry teaching materials as a source of learning by exploring the potential of local Sasak wisdom with the ngejot tradition. Data collection techniques through literature, interviews, and documentation using a qualitative approach. The use of Miles & Huberman's qualitative analysis in analyzing the data to be obtained. The research subjects consist of community leaders, chemical content experts, and chemical literature relevant to the research study. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that Sasak local wisdom with the ngejot tradition can be used as a source of chemistry learning through integrating Sasak local wisdom with the ngejot practice in the concept of atomic structure that there is an arrangement of matter from a negatively charged electron surrounding the atomic nucleus. Thus, the implications of this research can be a source of reference in developing contextual chemistry teaching materials so as to make learning more meaningful.

Abstract

One problem in chemistry learning at the secondary and tertiary levels is the availability of appropriate learning resources. To address this problem, it needs contextual teaching materials to implement an ethnochemistry learning approach. This research aims to explore and develop the traditional potential of Samawa local wisdom as chemistry learning material. In addition, this study also explored resources that can be used in teaching chemistry. This qualitative research utilized literature studies, interviews, and documentation to collect the data and was analyzed using Miles & Huberman’s qualitative analysis. As for the sample used in this study were 10th grade students of SMAN 2 Taliwang. I use 2 classes, 1 class as the control class and 1 class as the experimental class. The community leaders, chemistry content experts, and relevant chemistry literature were selected as the study subject. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that Samawa’s local wisdom can be used as a source of chemistry learning through integration with Samawa culture on chemical bonding material. Therefore, this research is expected to be a reference in developing contextual chemistry teaching to create more significant and exciting learning since it is relevant to real-life experience.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a feasible and effective e-learning chemistry book integrated with Sasak’s local wisdom to enhance students’ science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills. The research adopts a development approach utilizing the ADDIE model include analysis, design, development, evaluation and implementation. Product trial on chemistry education students at UIN Mataram employing a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group design. The study reveals that the e-learning chemistry book, integrated with Sasak local wisdom, achieves an Aiken’s validity coefficient of 0.890, an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) value of 0.810, and a Cronbach’s alpha reliability value of 0.875. Furthermore, the results of the independent sample T-test indicate a significance value of 0.01, which is less than α (0.05), affirming that the e-learning chemistry book integrated with Sasak local wisdom meets valid and reliable criteria and is declared effective in enhancing students’ STEM skills

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) know the effectiveness of integrated chemical teaching materials of Islamic values and Sasak local wisdom on science process skills and social concern in chemical bonding materials; and (2) understand the differences in science process skills and students’ social care through the application of integrated chemistry teaching materials Islamic values and Sasak local wisdom to chemical bond materials. The research method used is experimental research with a quantitative approach. The experimental class was given treatment with integrated chemistry teaching materials of Islamic values and Sasak local wisdom, and the control class was given treatment with conventional chemistry teaching materials. Data analysis techniques using Hotelling’s T2 hypothesis test through the Manova test. Based on data analysis using the Manova test, obtaining integrated chemistry teaching materials for Islamic values and local wisdom Sasak is effective on science process skills and social care with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 based on the results of the Manova test Test of Between-Subject Effect and Hotteling’s T2 test. In addition, it refers to the Partial Eta Squared value where the score for science process skills is 0.414 and social care is 0.688. It can be seen that the value of Partial Eta Squared for social care is greater than that of science process skills, so the bound variable that is most influenced by the integrated chemical teaching materials of Sasak Islamic values and local wisdom is the variable of social concern.
