Abstract

Pekanbaru citizen have a quite high interest in beach tourism. However needs of this community are not supported due to none of beach tourism in Pekanbaru. To reach the beach tourism thecommunity have to out of the town and moreover the atmospheres are bothered by unarranged area, colored water and muddy sand. The presence of Indoor Beach will become a solution for the needsof Pekanbaru citizen in beach tourism, which will provide a sense of comfort, secure and control all of the beach tourism activities. Existence of an artificial beach in Pekanbaru is quite rare. Thedesign of Indoor Beach using Zaha Hadid's design principles. Zaha Hadid is an architect whose known as unique building design so it will be in tune with the uniqueness of Indoor Beach. Zaha Hadid's design principles will be applied in the abstract formations, dynamic shapes, context to thesurrounding site, breaking and resistance and taking concepts from nature. The concept of Bono Waves is considered by the function of the building and the application of Zaha Hadid's designprinciples, and the concept will also be applied in the form of the process of the occurrence and philosophy of the seven ghost waves.Keyword: Indoor Beach, Zaha Hadid, Bono Waves

Abstract

Traditional Market Design is intended to meet daily needs of the society. Traditional Market in Rengat is not enough to accommodate shopping area, especially in the district of West Rengat, Pematang Rebah located near the capital city. Based on records of Market Department of Indragiri Hulu until 2016, West Rengat sub-district does not have any Traditional Market yet. Traditional Market in Rengat also has discomfort such as dirty environment and management of internal space and outer space that is not regular. This condition becomes the background of this design. Traditional Market Design by using Form Follows Function approach. Research methods used trought field surveys, literature reviews, and building analysis. Approaches are applied partially or completely to the market building. Form Follows Function prioritizes planned spaces according to their function that is intended to meet human needs. The concepts used in this design are Trade Values in Modern Concepts. The application of this concept is contained in the Traditional Market design which includes layout of buildings that have functionality of the site, the spatial placement in the building in accordance with needs and functions, arrangement of circulation inside and outside the building that facilitate activity of buying and selling, a convenient utility for users, and building facades that are result of the concept. Keywords: Traditional Market, Form Follows Function, Trade Values in Modern Concepts Rengat.

Abstract

A form of art that is growing in this modern era is seni jalanan or street art. The word "Street” in street art does not only show the location but rather shows the freedom of expression. Freedom of expression in general public became a push to the younger generation to roar and vent the angst over social, cultural, economic structure or whatever they feel by combining components of colours, lines, patterns and shapes in the city’s public spaces that have been overrun by advertising medias, billboards, banners, and etcetera. The usage of public spaces without permission to create street art is classified as a form of vandalism that could stains, damages, and spoils the city scape. However, the majority of society views street art as a form of art that leaves the impression of aesthetics in the midst of a hectic city life. Due to a minimal amount of the expression areas and the lack of attention from the government that even opposes the existence of this art form and assumes that this form of art as an act of vandalism. Expressionism architecture design approach that is also happen to be a refined result of imagination and emotions poured into an object to evoke emotions and understanding, certainly has a close relationship with the street art that acts as a media outlet of imagination and emotions poured into lines and shapes. The method of research that is used, covers observations, documentations as well as secondary data in a form of case studies and comparison studies. The concept applied to the design object is “Not everything’s the same” which is then influenced by a form of a graffiti’s writing style called Wildstyle and this concept also becomes a connecting point of each function’s placement. The outcome of this research is to design an architectural object that could evoke feelings and imaginations as well as conveys a message that is wished by the designers to the society through the principles of expressionism architecture.Keywords: Architecture, Expressionism, Street art.

Abstract

The campground is used to accomodate various outdoor activities such as camping, training activities, recreations, tourisms, and other activities. Scouting is a process of education outside the school and family’s environment in the term of interesting, fun, healthy, organized, directed, and practical activities that carried out in the open nature based on basic principles and methods of scouting. The campground is closely related to scouting because the process of education and scouting activities carried out in the open nature. The research methods were field surveys, literature reviews, and documentations. The scout campground design used the neo vernacular approach, which is Balai Selaso Jatuh Kembar, applied to this area and time setting of the building so it showed the characteristics of Malay architectural buildings. The researcher used one of the camp activities as a concept of this research, that is “bonfire”. The result of this study is the campground designing by applying neo vernacular architectural element featured on the area and building constructs to accomodate various activities on the open nature.   Keywords: Campground, Neo Vernacular, Universitas Riau Scout.

Abstract

Life skills education involves care for the environment can shape the personality and character of skilled care for environment around them. The exixtence of integrated schools thathave continuity from primary level to secondary school, aims to teach character education about care environment through facilities that comply with the national standards of education. A designmethod through applying the principle of eco architecture: (1) Sensitive to the climate; (2) Energyefficient; (3) Eco-friendly, will be applied in buildings such as the use of shading, cross-ventilation,rainwater harvesting, solar panels, and the use of environmentally friendly materials. The concept is applied to the integrated school buildings this is the 'Educational Terrace'. This concept isapplied to the terrace and the veranda building. The terrace and the veranda is utilized as a place of gardening, so with a garden on the terrace can be used to support teaching and learningactivities involves care of the environment.Keywords: Integrated School, Eco Architecture, Educational Terrace.

Abstract

Teluk Kuantan is the capital of Kuantan Singingi district. Teluk Kuantan as expansion city needs to build public facilities one of which is modern shopping center. It is important because todescribe progress of a city and also can improve community economy matters. Modern shopping center in Teluk Kuantan apply of theme modern architecture by using an organic concept. Organic according to Iain Thomson in book of A Visual Encyclopedia of Frank Lloyd Wright is planning and designing by taking the resources from nature in the form of living creatures or related to living organism, as main of the form and function of the building. Design of shopping centers by using nature as a basic concept of the building can be applied if the chosen site has natural potential. In designing a modern shopping center there are some factors that need to be considered. These factors among the selection of appropriate area, designing buildings that can provide comfort for visitors, the use of the structure proper construction, material selection, and implementation of the utility system. Abstract

Children library has a very important role for children and families. It’s a place for children to get to know the various learning resources and foster the fun of books. It’s also an interacting place for children and families. The development of information technology today can not be separated with modern human life. Similarly in the children library. Therefore, the children library should follow the development of technology and information in support of its programs and services. Thechildren library in Pekanbaru now has not been able to answer the needs of information technology literacy because it does not have the right system and infrastructure. In an effort to anticipate thedevelopment of the era to the next era, the children library should be oriented to the future. Children libraries in the future, in addition to reading and learning, also become a social and creative node to collaborate and create content. Therefore, the concept of library must also support those needs. The design of children library using futuristic approach, which is future-oriented and adaptive to the times. It’s realized by combining the introduction of media and futuristic technology to children with creative and innovative collaboration. Design strategy in this research include functional analysis and environmental condition analysis. Based on the function and theme of building design, emerged a concept of "Collaboration for the Future". This concept will accompany the design process so that it can create a children library in accordance with the wishes and needs of children in Pekanbaru. As the results, this building has dyamic and future-oriented form, usingspace frame on the structure, glass and alluminium composite panel as dominant material, and kinetic facade on the side of the building.Keywords: Library, Children, Futuristic, Pekanbaru.

Abstract

The contemporary approach is one of the solution to preserve the culture while keeping abreast of the times. So it is with Malay Contemporary Architecture through design thatremain based on Malay traditions, but more advanced, varied, flexible and innovative both in form and appearance, material use and technology used to support the latest architecturalstyle. This study aims to identify the application of Malay Contemporary Architecture in new buildings in urban areas. The research methods used include field data collection, literaturestudy and empirical studies. Abstract

House of literature appreciate come to support the environment which supporting the literature growth in West Sumatera. This building have function as creativity area. A place for gathering and as place for litterateurs to interact with one another, and also as a reading area for visitors and researchers. So that, it can rise their interest in appreciate of literature. Due to historical and strategic position, so, Kota Padang Panjang choose as site. Meanwhile, Robohnya Surau Kami by A.A. Navis, a writer born in Padang Panjang, become planning concept. The characteristic and value in that short-story displayed again as a house of literature appreciate through architecture metaphor. House of literature appreciate likened as Robohnya Surau Kami through transforming the literature elements on that short-story into architecture perspective. Transformation is done with metaphor method. Abstract

Pandan City which does not have a representative library and consisting of various ethnic groups and cultures, is very appropriate to give a touch that can be accepted by all people in the design. Designing a city library can also keep abreast of the current era. Therefore, the design with the Contemporary Architecture approach is considered appropriate for Pandan City Library. The research methods used include field data collection, literature studies and empirical studies. The results of this study are a City Library design with the application of the principles of Contemporary Architecture with case studies of library buildings in the last five years, namely the application of cantilever mass, atrium to impression of open space, gratings, transparent facades and greenroof.Keywords: City Library, Architecture, Contemporary
