Abstract

Local chicken is one of the biodiversity that has a significant role in maintaining ecosystem  sustainability. Ternate City is one of the regions in Indonesia. Which has a high and typical variety of local chicken. This study aims to determine genetic diversity based on the qualitative traits and morphology of local Kampong Chickens in the city of Ternate, as the basis for efforts to develop local superior livestock. This research was conducted in April to June 2019, the district of Jambula, Kastela, Rua, Taduma, Loto dan Tugafo. The study was conducted using purposive sampling method. The qualitative and morphological characteristics of the 60 samples, namely 30 males and 30 females, had different characters in males and females, but of all the coat colors were more dominant in black coat color, yellowish-white  shank color, red comb color, pea comb shape, white ear color and reddish yellow eye color. While the highest body size character of male and female local chicken was found in the femur length of male chicken which was 144,90 %

Abstract

The poultry feed industry is one of the industries that has the potential to be developed. A descriptive feasibility study was conducted to examine the development of the poultry feed industry in Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province, based on socio-cultural and socio-economic conditions. This study was conducted in Central Halmahera Regency from May to October 2021. The research method consists of preparation, pre-survey, survey, SWOT analysis, and socio-economic analysis. The results showed that the development of the animal feed industry in Tilope Village, South Weda District, Central Halmahera Regency, was feasible, while production and marketing were still technically very prospective. The needs for poultry feed so far are still imported from outside North Maluku.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui ketersedian pakan,  ketersediaan nutrien asal pakan dan daya tampung ternak sapi pada Kecamatan Gebe, Kabupaten Halmahera Tengah. Metode penentuan contoh di Kecamatan Gebe ditentukan dengan pengambilan contoh secara sengaja: desa yang memiliki ternak sapi potong yang tertinggi (Desa Kacepi), terendah (Desa Umera) dan sedang (Desa Sanafmamin). Metode penelitian yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini antara lain Rapid Rural Apprasial (RRA) dilakukan melalui wawancara semi terstruktur terhadap 150 responden; dan perkiraan/pengukuran daya dukung padang penggembalaan pada  setiap lokasi penelitian memakai metode cuplikan ubinan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan responden di lokasi penelitian berprofesi sebagai peternak dan mempunyai pengalaman beternak yang bervariasi antara 3 hingga  11 tahun. Berdasarkan analisis daya dukung hijauan pakan ternak sapi potong sesuai nilai nutrisi bahan kering, Desa Sanafmamin lebih potensial dengan potensi pengembangan jumlah populasi sebanyak 110 UT, menggunakan kapasitas peningkatan populasi sebesar 75,47%. Desa Kacepi menempati posisi kedua dengan potensi pengembangan populasi sebanyak 105 UT dan kapasitas peningkatan 18%. Sementara itu, Desa Umera paling sedikit, namun masih dapat menampung 39 UT dengan kapasitas peningkatan 6,4%. Kata kunci: Analisis, Daya Tampung, Sapi Potong

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to the development strategy for livestock areas in Ternate City, North Maluku Province. The data input method is direct observation in the field and through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) techniques as well as data from related agencies and other literature. The analysis used: Location Quotient, Livestock Capacity, and Livestock Concentration Index. For strategic analysis, the SWOT analysis method is used. The results of the Location Quotient (LQ) analysis of poultry on the island of Ternate show that the commodity is quail which has the highest LQ value of 53.07, the commodity of broiler on the island of Ternate with an LQ value of 1.15 indicates potential for livestock development. Based on the results analysis of Batang Dua sub-district/Island had a higher average weight of fresh forage for fodder (1.65 kg = 28%), than Moti sub-district (1.42 kg = 25%), Hiri (1.42 kg = 25%) and Ternate (1.28 kg = 22), the livestock concentration index for cattle commodities by island/district shows that all sub-districts/islands in the city of Ternate are in the category of rare or minimal livestock concentration, namely IKT <1, so it has great potential for development.

Abstract

Duck is a producer of animal protein whose production is eggs and meat, is a type of poultry that has the potential to be developed in the city of Ternate. However, until now there has been no characterization research in Ternate City. The aim of the study was to determine the phenotype characteristics as the basis for breeding local cattle in North Maluku. The materials used were adult male and female laying ducks, the variables observed were male ducks, qualitative characteristics were the character of coat color, beak color, eye color and quantitative characteristics were measured body size including femur length, tibia length, shank length, shank circumference, length wingspan, chest length, chest width, chest depth and hip width. calculating the mean formula, standard deviation and coefficient of diversity, qualitative characteristics of ducks using relative frequency analysis. The results showed that the quantitative characteristics of female ducks were more similar than those of male ducks. While the qualitative nature, the color is relatively the same both males and females have brown fur, only one is blackish brown, the skin color of the legs and beak is more dominantly black and brown compared to yellow, black yellow and brown yellow.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah memberikan penyuluhan dan pemahaman kepada kelompok ternak terkait manfaat dari tatalaksana pemeliharaan, pembuatan pakan ferementasi dari limbah sayur pasar tradisional dan pembuatan arang dari ampas gergaji sebagai bahan campur alas kandang.  Yang menjadi masalah utama adalah mengenai pakan yang diberikan adalah pakan komersial yang harganya cukup mahal, bahkan karena mahalnya pakan tersebut peternak terkadang hanya memberikan makanan seadanya, seperti sisa-sisa makanan dari dapur, karena tidak bisa menyediakan pakan berkualitas dalam jumlah sesuai kebutuhan, kebutuhan gizi itik yang tidak terpenuhi hal ini berdampak pada produktivitas telur yang tidak optimal. Masalah lain yaitu bau yang ditimbulkan dari feces ternak sehingga kerapkali menimbulkan protes masyarakat sekitar. Pengolahan sampah organik menjadi pakan fermentasi dan pemanfaatan ampas gergaji menjadi arang sebagai bahan liter ternak itik diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi selain mengurangi sampah organik juga menjadi solusi dari masalah pakan, juga dapat mencegah timbulnya bibit penyakit dan bau yang diakibatkan oleh kotoran ternak tersebut. Pakan fermentasi dapat menekan biaya pakan dan arang ampas gergaji dapat mengatasi masalah bau kandang Itik bahkan dapat di jual sebagai media tanaman di berbagai pekarangan rumah tangga, hal ini dapat meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan kelompok. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan cara ceramah, sosialisasi dan bimbingan. Pertemuan lapangan, Demplot (Demonstrasi). Dari hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini didapatkan hasil yang cukup baik dilihat dari hasilnya yaitu peternak dapat memahami, membuat dan mengaplikasikannya. Terjadi peningkatan produksi telur setelah kegiatan PKM dan bau feces dapat teratasi.

Abstract

Agriculture has an important role in human life because it serves as a provider of food, feed for livestock, and bioenergy. Realizing an integrated agricultural system in North Maluku Province is not an easy thing for the government, the community, or the business world. The purpose of this research is to analyze the potential of the integrated agricultural sector owned by each region and analyze the determination of location/region and integrated agricultural potential sector related to economic area development policy in North Maluku Province. As a result based on LQ value, almost all districts/cities in North Maluku Province on average have regional superior commodities according to sub-sectors (food crops, horticulture, plantations, and livestock), except Sula Islands Regency and Ternate City. Especially Sula Islands Regency, the superior commodities are plantation crops and livestock. In conclusion, by using an integrated agricultural approach has not fully applied the concept of integrated agriculture, both programmed under government agencies, companies, or self-help or community individuals. So it needs to be developed well integrated agricultural approach through the pattern of regional and sector/subsector approach into one unit by paying attention to environmental conditions for the realization of an integrated agricultural system in every regency/city in North Maluku Province.

Abstract

The Partner Farmers are increasingly experiencing a reduction in livestock feed resources in their environment over time. This is due to the conversion of lands, where these feed resources used to grow, into residential areas. Such conditions have made it somewhat challenging for the farmers to find adequate livestock feed. Additionally, the farming practices have not fully embraced technology for management. These conditions have led to a qualitative decline in the productivity of cattle, particularly in terms of body weight, even though the population has increased quantitatively. The objectives of this Community Partnership Program (PKM) are as follows: To establish a robust institution and ensure that the cattle are legally registered with the relevant department; To enhance farmers' understanding of cattle reproduction, including the ability to recognize estrus, productive age, and post-mating care; and to provide knowledge and skills to the partners regarding the production of Urea Molasses Blocks. The approach involves three methods: Lectures and discussions, Demonstration plots, and activity evaluation. The results of this PKM show that the partners' knowledge has improved, especially in the areas of livestock reproduction and the development of new Urea Molasses Blocks (UMB) feed.

Abstract

PKM ini bertujuan menyampaikan edukasi dan kesadaran terhadap peternak terkait budidaya ternak unggas, pemanfaatan sisa sayur pada pasar lokal dan dari dapur keluarga, juga memanfaatkan serbuk gergaji sebagi bahan produksi arang untuk liter pelapis lantai kandang, dan juga dapat dimanafaatkan sebagai media tanam yang berkualitas. Permasalahan utama yang dialami peternak adalah pakan, untuk memenuhi pedoman mutu adalah pakan komersial namun sangat mahal. Hal ini berdampak pada produktivitas yang rendah. Permasalahan lain adalah pencemaran udara yang seringkali menimbulkan protes masyarakat sekitar. Bioteknologi Pakan dengan teknik anaerob fermentasi sisa sayuran dan pembuatan arang gergaji dapat mengatasi permasalahan mitra yaitu pakan dan masalah pencemaran, menurunkan biaya pakan dan meningkatkan produksi. Metodenya adalah komunikasi dan koordinasi rencana kegiatan, sosialisasi atau penyuluhan, demplot dan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan produktivitas disebabkan karena meningkatnya pemahaman mitra dalam pembuatan pakan fermentasi dan arang dari serbuk gergaji serta mengatasi permasalahan bau pakan dan kotoran.
