Abstract

This study aims to determine how the ability of Jambi Friends of the Community of Friends in accessing, evaluating and using information. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach and data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used: data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and data triangulation. Based on the results of the analysis and research findings, the ability of the Jambi Sahabat Community Community Managers to access information based on the IFLA standard is said to be Expert, because it is seen from the manager’s ability to define information needs and to trace information through various sources, such as people who are experts in their fields, from print media: books and newspapers, electronic media: television and mobile phones. The ability of the Friends of the Jambi Friends of the Community in evaluating information based on the IFLA standard is said to be Expert, because it is seen from the ability of the manager to assess information and manage information obtained through clear sources of information, such as books, and internet media, as well as sources from internal community discussions. The ability of the Jambi Friends of the Sahabat Community Community to use information based on the IFLA standard can be said to be Expert, seen from the manager’s ability to use information and communicate information directly in the form of discussion, and indirectly as well as convey information with a simpler and easier to understand delivery

Abstract

This article discusses the pineapple farmer’s literacy in improving agricultural productivity in the Tangkit Baru Village. The Purpose of this article was to explore the literacy level of farmer information by default of The International Federation of Library Association and Literacy (IFLA). The writing employed a descriptive qualitative method with a sampling approach. The data analysis technique used is the flow model of data reduction, data presentation and deduction scheme. The results proved that the pineapple farmers’ literacy in the village of Tangkit Baru in good category, with increased productivity. The default IFLA information literation component suggest, (information access) is obtained through socialization among farmers, as well as through generations; then at the rate (information evaluation), farmers know the variety of plants, the inhibitory factors dof locating information, and the ability to compare the information accordingly are evaluated so that information can be useful; and (use of information), farmers apply information through experimentation and information obtained, disseminated and communicated to create coexistence. The pineapple farmers in the Tangkit Baru village at the average level of secondary school are able to work well, because of the important information literacy role of their communities. Which, of course, the pineapple productivity will increase as well as minimize the damage to the farmland.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang telah berkembang dengan pesatnya, mau tidak mau mengubah pola pencarian informasi yang telah berkembang saat ini. Sebelum boomingya internet, masyarakat telah mengenal media massa. Sehingga masyarakat dapat dengan mudah mendapatkan informasi tentang peristiwa yang terjadi disekelilingnya atau bahkan dipenjuru dunia yang jauh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Bagaimana pemahaman literasi informasi mahasiswa saat mengakses informasi berdasarkan the seven pillars of information literacy model. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif, subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa/mahasiswi Program Studi Sejarah Peradaban Islam semester enam Universitas Islam NegeriSulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan mahasiswa Jurusan Sejarah Peradaban Islam semester enamUniversitas Islam NegeriSulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi rata-rata sudah memahami literasi informasi hanya saja dari sudut pandang yang berbeda dalam mengartikan literasi informasi itu sendiri membuat pemikiran mereka sempit akan pengetahuan literasi informasi. Pemahaman literasi informasi mahasiswa saat mengakses informasi berdasarkan the seven pillars of information literacy model maka terdapat 5 cukup baik dan 2 standar dari mahasiswa, dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa para mahasiswa tergolong cukup baik dalam melakukan 7 komponen literasi informasi berdasarkan (the seven pillars of information literasi).
