Abstract

This article describes the ability of students of eight grade of High School 1 Pacet Cianjur 2011/2012 in the use of diction in a narrative essay. Research was carried out by using the descriptive method. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion are showed that students’ ability to write essay in terms of accuracy of the use of diction which is an average 66.36. An examination of the use of language styles, the average value obtained is 65.68 students, meanwhile, viewed from the aspect of the use of the phrase sentences in a narrative written by the average value obtained by the students is 66.36. Therefore, it can be concluded that in general the ability of students to use diction, style and expression language sentences in writing a narrative essay is generally sufficient.

Abstract

Based on the results of data analysis and discussion are showed that students’ ability to write essay in terms of accuracy of the use of diction which is an average 66.36. An examination of the use of language styles, the average value obtained is 65.68 students, meanwhile, viewed from the aspect of the use of the phrase sentences in a narrative written by the average value obtained by the students is 66.36. Therefore, it can be concluded that in general the ability of students to use diction, style and expression language sentences in writing a narrative essay is generally sufficient.

Abstract

IKHTISAR: Makalah ini mendiskusikan hubungan antara cerita anak-anak dengan pembentukan karakter. Bercerita adalah sangat penting untuk mencapai tujuan-tujuan pendidikan dalam kaitannya dengan memperkuat sikap dan karakter anak-anak yang baik. Karena anak-anak itu merupakan generasi harapan masa depan Indonesia, maka mendidik mereka dengan karakter yang kuat dan baik adalah merupakan keharusan. Dalam konteks bercerita untuk anak-anak, maka perlu difahami hal-hal berikut: kedudukan dan fungsi sosial bercerita dalam masyarakat; jenis cerita apa yang sesuai untuk dibawakan, khususnya untuk anak-anak; kapan waktu yang baik untuk bercerita kepada anak-anak; dan usaha-usaha apa yang harus dilakukan pada waktu dan setelah bercerita. Agar kegiatan bercerita itu mencapai sasaran yang diharapkan, maka perlu dilakukan secara serius sehingga ianya tidak hanya melayani anak menjelang tidur tetapi fungsi utamanya sebagai alat pendidikan dapat berjalan dengan lancar. Sebagai tambahan, harus juga disadari bahwa bercerita itu merupakan perlambang cinta dan kasih-sayang orang tua kepada anak-anaknya.KATA KUNCI: Bercerita, kisah, tujuan pendidikan, pembentukan karakter, anak-anak, keluarga, dan masyarakat Indonesia.ABSTRACT: This paper discusses the relationship between the children’s story and the character building. Storytelling is very important for gaining the educational objectives related to enhance the good children character as well as attitude. Due to the children are as young generation for further hopefully Indonesia, to educate them with good and strong characters are a must. In the context of story for children, it has to understand as following things: the position and social function of stories in the community; what kind of stories are suitable or fairy tale brought, especially to children; when a good time to undertake to tell to the children; and what efforts should be done on time and after the talk. In order the activities of story achieved the goals, needs to be done seriously so that it is not only serving as a prelude the children to sleep, but the main function as an educational tool is also really run. Abstract

IKHTISAR:  Secara umum, literasi diartikan kemampuan membaca dan menulis berdasarkan usia. Pada penelitian ini ianya merujuk literasi bidang sastera, khususnya pengetahuan dan minat dalam membaca sastera. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan literasi bidang sastera pada mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastera Indonesia, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan UNSUR (Universitas Suryakancana) di Cianjur, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh isu tentang rendahnya kemampuan literasi. Metode deskriptif digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket tertutup dan terbuka. Angket tertutup dijadikan alat untuk menjaring pengetahuan sastera, sedangkan angket terbuka untuk menggali kesan terhadap karya sastera yang dibaca. Adapun kategori bacaan sastera berbentuk buku kumpulan puisi, sejumlah novel, kumpulan cerita pendek, serta buku naskah drama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum, literasi sastera mahasiswa dalam aspek pengetahuan masih sangat rendah, terutama sastera yang tergolong klasik, sedangkan kemampuan mengungkapkan kesan terhadap bacaan sebaliknya. Kesimpulannya, untuk mengukur kemampuan literasi sastera tidak tepat jika pengetahuan dijadikan satu-satunya alat pengukur literasi sastera.  KATA KUNCI: Literasi sastera, puisi, novel, cerita pendek, naskah drama, minat baca, mahasiswa, serta kemajuan dan kesejahteraan bangsa.ABSTRACT:  This article entitled “Literature Literacy of Students at the Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature”. In general, literacy means the ability to read and write by age. In this study, literacy refers to the literacy of literature field, in particular knowledge and interest in reading the literature. The purpose of this study is to describe the literature literacy of students at the Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training UNSUR (Suryakancana University) in Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia. This research is motivated by issue of low literacy competences. Descriptive method is used to achieve the goals. Instruments used in the form of closed and open questionnaires. Enclosed questionnaire is as a tool for capturing the literature knowledge, while open questionnaire is to explore the impression to literature that is read. The categories of literature readings shaped volume of poetry, a novel, a collection of short stories, and book of drama script. The results showed that the overall literature literacy of students in aspects of literary knowledge is still very low, especially classical literature, while abilities to express the impression what they read are reveal otherwise. The conclusion is that to measure the literature literacy is not appropriate if knowledge be the only means of measuring literature literacy.KEY WORD: Literature literacy, poem, novel, short story, drama script, reading interest, students, and national progress and prosperity.    About the Authors: Dr. Hj. Abstract

Artikel ini mengungkapkan penggunaan gaya bahasa pada puisi siswa SMP Negeri 1 Pasirkuda. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan siswa dalam menggunakan gaya bahasa repetisi, hiperbol, dan personifikasi ketika menulis puisi. Selain itu, penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui gaya bahasa yang paling dominan digunakan oleh siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa dokumentasi untuk mengumpulkan data sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 22 gaya bahasa yang digunakan siswa pada puisinya; gaya bahasa personifikasi paling mendominasi gaya bahasa pada puisi siswa, yakni ditemukan 9 kali penggunaan gaya bahasa personifikasi; gaya bahasa hiperbol menduduki urutan kedua gaya bahasa yang paling banyak digunakan pada puisi siswa, yakni digunakan sebanyak 8 kali; dan gaya bahasa repetisi menduduki urutan terakhir gaya bahasa yang paling banyak digunakan pada puisi siswa, yakni digunakan sebanyak 5 kali.Kata kunci: puisi, repetisi, hiperbol, personifikasiThis article reveals the use of language style in poetry of SMP Negeri 1 Pasirkuda students. The study was conducted to find out how students' abilities in using repetition, hyperbolic, and personification style when writing poetry. In addition, research was conducted to find out the most dominant language style used by students. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of documentation to collect secondary data. The results showed that there were 22 styles of language used by students in his poetry; personification language style dominates the language style of students' poetry, which is found 9 times the use of personification language style; hyperbolic language style ranks second most widely used language style in student poetry, which is used 8 times; and repetition style ranks last in the style of language most widely used in student poetry, which is used 5 times. Keywords: poetry, repetition, hyperbolic, personification
