Abstract

Children are one of the most vulnerable groups at risk of being affected by disasters. The frequent occurrence of repeated earthquakes in the city of Padang has caused panic among students during lessons. This is because students are still weak in disaster preparedness. Efforts that can be made include improving earthquake and tsunami disaster preparedness in the school community through disaster preparedness education and training. SMP Negeri 13 Padang is one of the schools located in the earthquake and red tsunami zone, which already has a community of disaster smart students. However, they have never received disaster preparedness education and training. This activity aims to increase the capacity for earthquake and tsunami disaster preparedness in the school community. The method used is planning with program socialization; implementing activities to provide disaster preparedness education and emergency training through lectures, demonstrations, and simulations; providing disaster preparedness pocketbooks to the school environment; and evaluating by pretest and post-test of activity results. The activity results are the average increase in student knowledge, namely in the disaster-smart student community from 13.28 to 13.89, an increase in earthquake and tsunami disaster preparedness skills in the disaster-smart student community at SMP Negeri 13 Padang, and the availability of an alert pocketbook. Disaster. It is hoped that schools can provide and develop disaster preparedness education on an ongoing basis by including it in the school education curriculum.

Abstract

Violence is an act that refers to an attitude or behaviour that is inhumane so that it can hurt other people. People who commit violence not only harm their victims but will also make the perpetrators get punished according to applicable law. Data on youth violence compiled by the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPA) in 2016 shows that Indonesia still has problems with youth and child violence. The activity was disseminated to partners, namely SMAN 5 Padang, which, although no cases have been reported, there has never been socialization and education about violence in adolescents. There was a concern and request for the school as a partner to socialize. The number of cases of violence, such as bullying and brawls, is something that we need to pay attention to. This service activity aimed to provide education and prevention regarding violence in adolescents. Activities were carried out in the form of educational activities as well as pre-tests and post-tests to measure students' knowledge of youth violence. Questions were sourced from socialization material obtained from various references. The pre-test results found that more than half of the students (73%) had good knowledge about violence in adolescents, and the post-test showed an increase in knowledge of 100%. It was hoped that with this activity, students could be more aware of all forms of violence around them, and the school could routinely provide continuing education on preventing youth violence.

Parents should continue to optimize their child's time to rest even though they have declared negative for COVID-19 and keep an eye on the symptoms that still appear.

Abstract

Sanitary napkins are used by women during menstruation to absorb blood from the vagina. Sanitary napkins are divided into 2 types, namely disposable pads which are usually made of cotton and plastic, and cloth pads that can be reused (reusable pads). According to the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) sanitary napkins are one of the highest polluters in Indonesia. The amount of pad waste in one month can reach 1.4 billion. In addition, the discovery of chlorine which is harmful to health. The average woman uses more than 16,000 pads/tampons/pantyliners during her lifetime. That means, there are more than 45 million women's products are used and discarded every year. In Indonesia alone, it turns out that sanitary pads can reach 26 tons every day. The Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Andalas University realizes that the problem of waste, especially waste from pads, is very important for the balance of the environmental ecosystem. As an initial step to reduce sanitary napkin waste by providing education and socialization on the manufacture of cloth sanitary napkins. The service activity began with socialization with the school principal and teachers, after which it was given to all 29 Al-Ishlah High School students. Then a pre-test was conducted to find out the students' knowledge regarding eco-friendly sanitary napkins and menstruation where more than half of the students (89%) had good knowledge about reproductive health. After that, counseling was carried out regarding the impact of using disposable sanitary napkins on the environment and educating female students to use cloth sanitary napkins and explaining how to make cloth sanitary napkins. It is hoped that by carrying out this community service activity, the use of disposable pads/plastic pads can be reduced little by little, so that the amount of sanitary pad waste can be reduced and the environment will be better.
