Abstract

Critical thinking skills is a skills that need to be empowered in the face of life in the 21st century. Critical thinking skills are skills to think reflectively and reasonable to decide what is believed. Critical thinking skills can be empowered toward learning activities. One of the learning activities that can empower critical thinking skills is Remap CS (Reading Concept Map Cooperative Script) that used in biology lesson. Remap CS learning model has a syntax that can empower critical thinking skills. The purpose of this study is to empower students’s critical thinking skills in biology matter by using Remap CS learning model. This type of research is quasi experimental with nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The study was conducted in science class of X4 and X1 SMA Negeri 1 Batu. Data obtained from the critical thinking skills test results were analyzed using the description rubric developed by Zubaidah, et al. (2015). The test results analyzed with Anacova and further by using LSD. The results showed that Remap CS learning model can empower students's critical thinking skills in the subject of biology. Keywords: Critical thinking skills, Remap CS

Abstract

The aims of this study are to explore the effect of Reading-Concept Map- Cooperative Script (Remap-CS) towards metacognitive skills and cognitive learning outcomes on highschool students. This research used Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Metacognitive skills obtained from the essay test that is integrated with the cognitive achievement test. The test results were then analyzed with Anacova. The results of this experiment showed that Remap-CS can enhance metacognitive skill and cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

Formalin is a chemical toxic that is abused as a food preservative and prohibited by the Indonesian government. Thus, there is a need for continuous analysis of foodstuffs that are sold in the market. When food containing formaldehyde is consumed, it will interfere with the metabolism of organs and body systems. This study aimed to analyze the presence and absence of formalin content on Kolang Kaling (Arenga pinnata Merr) and Black Grass Jelly (Mesona palustris BL) sold in Samarinda City Traditional Market, especially Segiri market, Pagi market, and Sungai Dama market. The test of formalin content was performed qualitatively using chromatophilic acid and continued quantitatively using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at the Biochemical MIPA laboratory. The results showed that 9 samples from 18 samples were identified using formalin as a preservative. The levels of formalin obtained were different, the lowest formalin level of 0.0240 mL / L in the Cincau samples (Mesona palustris BL) obtained in the Segiri market and the highest formalin level of 0.0531 mL / L in the kolang kaling sample (Arenga pinnata Merr) obtained on the Pagi market.

Abstract

Abstract

Questioning skills are very important for prospective teacher students to master in order to help students learn actively in class later. Students' questioning skills are empowered through case study learning of environmental pollution subjects. Because it discusses pollution in the environment, a solution needs to be found. The purpose of this study was to determine the questioning skills of prospective teacher students in environmental pollution course using case study method. This qualitative descriptive research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The measurement instrument was in the form of scoring the students' questioning skill level based on the cognitive level of the revised bloom taxonomy. The research data were analyzed by using the percentage technique. The results showed that the questions asked by students at the low order thinking skills level were 83.33% and the high order thinking skills level was 26.66%. Furthermore, it is necessary to habituate students with asking questions with more intensive assistance and lecturers can provide more examples of questions at the high order thinking skills level.
