Abstract

Utilization of glycerol side product from biodiesel as waste management application is required for reduced   negative effect which possible emerged. Glycerol  have three bond of hydroxyde, so its  opportunity  to utilize  to be solketal as bio-additive of gasoline. Indion 225 Na ion exchanger resin is strong acid cation category and low  prices, so  its potency to use alternatively of solid catalyst to get efficient and economic process. The purpose of this research was focussed to search  of the best condition by optimalization indion 225 Na performance as catalyst in glycerol ketalization reaction, by integrated of variables that have effected to reaction for maximize glycerol coversion. To get maximize of reactants molecular interaction and for  optimalization indion 255 Na performance, observation  conducted  in the  range variables which widely enough that were  reactant ratio of 5:1-6:1 mole of acetone mole/mole of glycerol, diameter size  catalyst of  20-40 mesh, catalyst concentration of 3-5% mass of acetone, and reaction temperature of 35-65oC. Result of the research showed that  indion 225 Na catalyst have good performance, by glycerol conversion to reach of 51.89%. Glycerol conversion mentioned was obtained at reactant ratio of 6:1 mole of acetone/mole of gycerol, diameter size catalyst of  40 mesh, catalyst concentration of 4%  mass of acetone, and  reaction temperature of  65oC.

Abstract

The aim of research was to determine the sex ratio test; fish mortality and growth of fish nomei in waters Juata Tarakan City. Method location research is purposive sampling with consideration that the research sites is the main area of fishing nomei in the waters Juata Tarakan City. The variable in this study is the variable sex ratio, mortality, growth allometri, condition index, absolute growth, age structure. Sample collection technique using field surveys. The sampling method by using the technique of "purposive sampling". Primary data obtained from data on length and weight of the fish that fishermen catch nomei performed 5 times a cycle arrest for 3 months for a total of as many as 50 fish of various sizes. Fish samples measured length (cm) and weight (grams). Sampling as many as 50 fish nomei using purposive sampling method is expected to represent the population of fish nomei in the waters Juata Tarakan City. The result showed that the sex ratio is 43.2% male and 56.8% female. The maximum length of male and female fish nomei is 32.2 cm average growth rate of 0,019 cm / day and by 34 cm with a growth rate of 0,017 cm / day. Nomei male and female fish that are allometri positive and negative. The mortality rate of male and female fish that is equal to3.88% per three months and 6.97% per three months. Keywords : Harpadon nehereus; mortality; kelammin ratio; growth; Tarakan

Abstract

Techniques are important thing for building students’ speaking skills. Therefore the teacher should have techniques and should be able to apply them correctly. Many researchers have discussed about this topic with different tittle actually. This study aimed to find out the techniques used by the teacher for building students’ speaking skill at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Karang Intan on the beginning of pandemic covid 19. Furthermore, the researcher would like to gain more knowledge about how the teacher applies the techniques, then what the advantages and disadvantages of them. The researcher uses qualitative as the method for conducting this research with English teacher itself as the subject. The researcher collects the data through interview, documentation and observation. The data is analyzed by using Miles and Hubberman’s theory. The result shows the teacher uses stimulation, telling story, discussion, and picture describing as the techniques. The English teacher applies the techniques in different ways. Stimulation:  greeting and giving questions, telling story: experience story and short narrative story, discussion: update news, and picture describing: family picture. Furthermore, these techniques have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Abstract

Choosing the right learning media during the Covid-19 pandemic is very important. Students are helped in understanding the learning material delivered with learning media, even though they are studying at home. The purpose of this study is to find out how Edmodo as a medium is used in teaching and learning activities. This research is a research that uses a qualitative approach and uses a phenomenological method to students and teachers. The conclusion obtained in this study is that the communication that occurs between teachers and students in Edmodo takes place effectively through the delivery of material that is easily understood by students.

Abstract

Bio ethanol is one of the potential fuels in the future. However, ethanol in water mixture has an azeotropic concentration of 95.6 wt. %, which makes it difficult to purify further. The common method of purification is by using an azeotropic distillation column, which requires an intensive energy and an addition of specific solvent. In this study, ethanol purification is done using an adsorption column packed with zeolite Raschig rings. The natural zeolite ring was modified beforehand using the NaOH solution to enhance the material’s water adsorption performance. The ethanol purity can reach more than 99% with the modified zeolite packing. The modification also increases the saturation time of the packed bed column, thus making it more efficient.
