Abstract

This paper aims to observed the performance of Savonius windmills with 16 guide vanes with variations in the guide vane angle of 30 °, 45 ° and 60 °. Tests are carried out openly with the help of a fan as a source of air flow. The best performance results obtained at wind speeds of 5 m / s, namely the highest power coefficient occurs on the mill with a 45 ° angled guide vane of 24%. The highest torque coefficient is owned by a windmill with a 45 ° angular guide vane of 20% at a rotational speed of 100 rpm.

Abstract

Kincir angin Savonius merupakan kincir poros vertikal yang sederhana, dapat bekerja dengan kecepatan angin yang rendah, mampu bekerja sendiri dan mempunyai torsi statis yang besar dibandingkan dengan jenis kincir lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan torsi statis dengan menambahkan empat plat pengarah. Pengujian dilakukan dengan variasi panjang plat pengarah (105 mm, 210 mm, 315 mm) dan jarak antara kincir dengan plat pengarah (2 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm). Pengujian dilakukan dengan komputasi dinamika fluida (CFD) pada kecepatan angin 6 m/s. Hasil yang diperoleh torsi statis maksimal didapat dari kincir dengan plat pengarah dengan panjang plat 315 mm dan jarak antara kincir dengan plat pengarah 4 mm sebesar 2,4 Nm.Kata kunci : Savonius, torsi statis, plat pengarah, komputasi dinamika fluida

Abstract

Computer programming is the implementation of a logical and coherent way of thinking even in simple problems. Computer programming training with visual basic is one way to take advantage of existing facilities in Microsoft Excel with a more attractive appearance so that it improves the way students learn. The training was carried out with participants of class X Automotive Light Vehicle Engineering Skills at Pangudi Luhur Muntilan Vocational School. The results of this training, students feel that this training is very useful, interesting, suitable, increases motivation to learn and adds insight or provisions after graduation.

Abstract

The wood-furniture drying process in the industry using wood fuel is deemed inefficient, wasteful, takes a long time, is unsafe, impractical, and not environmentally friendly. Furthermore, the process of drying fertilizer blocks with the sun, apart from requiring a large area of land, also cannot be carried out in the rainy season. This service is carried out in two industrial partners, namely CV Nuansa Kayu Bekas in Sragen and PT Wira Cahya Pratama in Klaten. This service aims to increase understanding of an effective drying machine for the drying process of wood furniture and block-fertilizer in the industry by using a vapour compression cycle. In addition, to increase productivity and profits in the industry. The training venues are conducted in the industries of the two partners. Activities in this service include training on drying machines and assistance in the manufacture, operation and maintenance of effective dryers, especially for the wood-furniture and fertilizer-block industries. The implementation of the service has been going well and smoothly. The outputs produced are activity videos, publications in Suara Merdeka newspaper, Jogja Daily and the Sanata Dharma University website, service articles published in service journals, and Partner satisfaction surveys.

Abstract

SMK Pangudi Luhur Leonardo Klaten is children of productive and innovative ages. So it is necessary to get additional knowledge to increase the power of innovation, especially in the face of increasing competition. Computer programming skills can increase creativity. Computer programming can help improve work efficiency, such as repetitive calculations often encountered in the design of machine elements. However, computer programming generally requires a computer or laptop, which is an obstacle for students in learning programming because they generally do not have computer or laptop facilities. In this service activity, the community service team will introduce another alternative to learning programming, namely using a cellphone (HP). Students from the two vocational schools have cellphones, but they have not been used for programming. The students are generally new to using cellphones for communication, social media or games (games). The HP has not been used as a learning tool due to ignorance, the impression that programming is complicated, and not realizing the benefits of programming itself. The service team will introduce programming using cellphones to change the paradigm so that it is hoped that students can develop programming skills independently from this service activity. It is hoped that vocational students will be more creative and develop programming skills according to their work. In addition, the output targets of this service are sending articles to community service journals uploading information on the web and social media.

Abstract

Pangudi Luhur Vocational School students are of productive and innovative age. So it is necessary to get additional knowledge to increase the power of creativity to face increasing competition. Computer Programming using Visual Basic is an effort to increase creativity. Visual Basic is integrated into Microsoft Excel software, almost always present on the computer. Computer programming is done to help with repetitive calculations, especially in the design of machine elements. It is hoped that vocational students will be more creative and develop according to the field to be occupied. In addition, the output targets for this service are training modules and submitting articles to community service journals

Abstract

One of the problems faced by middle to lower economic class people in big cities is drying clothes, both in the dry season and in the rainy season. Artificial clothes drying equipment is needed that can replace the role of solar energy. The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of electric energy clothes dryers and the length of time needed to dry clothes on a household scale. The clothes dryer works by using a heat-pump based on the vapor-compression cycle. The total power of the heat pump is 200 watt. The working fluid of the heat-pump is R134a. The working fluid used to dry clothes is air, using a closed airflow system. The research was carried out experimentally by varying the amount of clothes in the drying chamber. The clothes dryer performance (COP) of the heat pump is 7.94. Drying time for 15, 25 and 40 clothes respectively for 210 minutes, 330 minutes and 450 minutes.
