Abstract

The addition and spread of COVID-19 cases globally is happening quite quickly, not only in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta and other densely populated cities, but has spread to rural areas in remote areas. To overcome this, the government has intensively taken steps to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 in a fast, precise, focused, integrated, and synergistic manner between ministries/agencies and local governments. Socialization efforts were carried out related to the prevention, promotion and management of COVID through the implementation of the COVID-19 Handling Health Protocol. Other efforts have been made by various countries, including Indonesia, to develop an ideal vaccine for the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infection with various platforms. The COVID-19 vaccination aims to reduce the transmission/transmission of COVID-19, reduce morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19, achieve herd immunity and protect the community from COVID-19 in order to remain socially and economically productive. The implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination at the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (BAKAMLA) is a form of community service aimed at helping the government in breaking the chain of transmission of Covid-19 and accelerating the implementation of vaccinations in government employees. The vaccination takes place for 1 day with 2 (two) dose stages (Dose I and II are 14 days apart) with the type of vaccine being given, namely Sars-cov II Biofarma (Sinovac). After the service activities, most of the employees of the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (BAKAMLA) have received the COVID-19 vaccination. Keywords : vaccine, COVID-19, BAKAMLA RI

Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common liver disease that causes significant publichealth problems throughout the world, including in Indonesia. The HCC is the six mostcommon cancers and second cancer-related deaths among men in the world. Recentlyit was reported that the microRNA is an important player in hepatocarcinogenesis. Theexpression of MiRNA-200c is often regulated in primary HCC and HCC cell lines. Vascularendothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) is a regulator of angiogenesis that has been reportedas miR-200c target gene. This study was conducted to measure expression levels in miR-200c and mRNAVEGF-A and their potential role as biomarkers at HCC. A total of 36HCC patients and 36 healthy subjects were included in this study. The relative expressionof miRNA-200c and mRNA VEGF-A was quantified using reverse transcription real timequantitative PCR (qRT PCR). Relative expression was calculated using . Unpaired t-testwas used to compare the expression levels of circulating miRNA-200c and mRNA VEGF-Ain HCC patients and healthy subjects. Pearson test was used to determine correlationbetween circulating miR-200c expression and mRNA VEGF-A expression levels. Theexpression levels of circulating miR-200c in HCC patients were lower compared to healthysubjects although it was not significant (p = 0.258). Conversely, the expression levelsof circulating mRNA VEGF-A in HCC patients were significantly higher compared tohealthy subjects (p = 0.001). The relative expression levels of circulating miR-200c werenegatively correlated with mRNA VEGF-A in HCC patients. In conclusion, the expressionlevels of mRNA VEGF-A in HCC patients are significantly deregulated in compared tothat in healthy subjects. Negative correlation between circulating miRN-200c and mRNAVEGF-A expression levels are reported in HCC patients.

Abstract

Background: Currently there is a new world health crisis which is urgent due to the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a novel coronavirus. The elderly can be presented as a group of patients at high risk for developing covid-19 with progressive and rapid clinical deterioration including neurological manifestations. Many reports have emerged showing that SARS-CoV-2 infection has an impact on neurological function, and even causes serious neurological damage. Purposes: to investigate the possible correlation between aging process to the severity of neurological deterioration experienced in COVID-19 infection specifically by elderly people. Methods: literature searching was conducted through PubMed, MedLine and Embase. Results: Regardless of age, the infection of SARS-CoV-2 to both central and peripheral nervous system could lead into a range of neurological deteriorations, in which also ranging in forms and severity. Conclusion: In elderly patients, despite of comorbidities, the natural degeneration process is likely being a risk factor of more severe neurological symptoms of Covid-19 infection.

Abstract

The use of drugs is one of the most common causes of liver injury, because the liver is the main organ that metabolizes drugs. Little is currently done if there is a liver injury due to the hepatotoxic side effects of a drug. Herbal plants have active natural compounds that have pharmacological effects so they are widely used as alternative treatments. Sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum) is one of the most cultivated plants in Asia. Studies on the use of Ocimum basilicum in medicine have been carried out, one of which is the hepatoprotector effect. Studies indicate that Ocimum basilicum is rich in high antioxidant content (flavonoids, saponins, tannins, sterols, triterpenes, and rosmaniric acid) capable of providing hepatoprotector effects by helping the regeneration process of hepatocyte cells that are damaged by hepatotoxic agents and significantly decreasing liver damage biomarkers. The purpose of this review is to explain the potential of Ocimum basilicum as a hepatoprotective agent for liver injury associated with drugs. The conclusion of this review is Ocimum basilicum has high potential in its utilization as a hepatoprotector against liver injury mainly related to the consumption of drugs that have hepatotoxic effects.
