Abstract

This study propose to find out the different effect between Content Based Instruction and Task Based Instruction in teaching speaking skill. The population of the study is the second year students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Ishlah Ireng Lauq with totaling students 222 and consisting of 6 classes. 74 students are taken as the samples which are divided into two groups; i.e. “X” group and “Y” group consisting of 37 students for each group. To get the whole data needed, test instruments in the forms of post-test was employed. Having deeply analyzed the whole data it is found that the student’s ability using Content Based Instruction method is higher than the students using Task Based Instruction method. This fact can also be seen from the mean score of “X” group which reaches 77, 18 and the means core of “Y” group which reaches 74, 59. This can also simply mean that the use of Content Based Instruction method and Task Based Instruction have different effect in teaching speaking skill in the second year students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Ishlah Ireng Lauq. Furthermore, Based on the statistical computation, interval confidence of 90%, 80% (0, 10 and 0, 20) t-test= 0,804 is lower than t-table=1,688 and 1,306. Which is automatically means that the both of them are not suitable for teaching spiking skill.

Abstract

Anxiety is a dimension of foreign language speaking that is heavily investigated in the EFL contexts. The anxiety in speaking needs to find out factors making students feel anxiety in speaking. This study aims to find out the factors contributing students’ speaking Anxiety in speaking at MTs. Darul Ishlah Ireng Lauq Lombok Barat. This research is classified as case study using descriptive qualitative method. The research object covers factors contributing students’ speaking anxiety. To find out the data, questionnaire and interview activities are carried out. The questionnaire is used to know the factors making students’ anxiety in speaking. The results are in the form of percentage. Meanwhile, the interview activities are oriented to strengthen the students’ responses based on the results of questionnaire. The data are then analyzed using qualitative ways. The steps of qualitative data analysis cover data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. Based on the result of analysis, there are 10 (ten) factors contributing students’ anxiety, such as being afraid to speak in English, being afraid with teacher’s consequence, lack of self-confident, fear of being less competent than others students, embarrassment, insufficient preparation, fear of making mistakes, limited vocabulary, habit in using English language, and language test. The detail explanation of the findings is elaborated in discussion part of this article.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to depelove students’ listening comprehension by applying Bottom-Up technique. This study is a classroom action research which has done in three cycles. The subject of the study was the eight grade of the students of MTs. Darul Aminin NW Aikmual Lombok Tengah. The study was conducted by applying Bottom-Up technique which consists of three main stages. There are word processing, phrase processing, and comprehension. The writer observed students’ depelovement in listening comprehension by collecting data through field notes, observation checklist and listening test. Field note and observation checklist were used to gather the students’ attitude in learning process. The data of listening was collected through listening test and it was assessed through scoring rubric. The result showed that students’ problems in understanding the contents of listening and vocabulary had been solved by applying Bottom-Up technique. In the third cycle, the students mean score was 83.7. It increased in the second cycle to 82.1, and 76.7 in first cycle. As the conclusion, the technique was able to be applied in depeloving students’ listening comprehension. As a technique in teaching and learning process, the writer recommends the teacher to apply Bottom-Up technique.

Abstract

The research aim is to prove improving students’ speaking skill in MTs. Darul Aminin NW Aikmual in academic year 2019/2020 by using “Class Story” method. The population of this research was the first level students’ of MTs. Darul Aminin NW Aikmual in academic year 2019/2020 and the sample of the students were 25 students. The researcher used a speaking test as the instrument of the research. The instrument of data collection is the test given as pretest and post test. The result of the data indicates that the t-table (2.012) is lower than the t-counted value (9.817) by applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (df) is 48 (df=25 + 25 – 2 = 48). It means that the research hypothesis is accepted. It proves that improving students’ speaking skill at the first level of MTs. Darul Aminin NW Aikmual in academic year 2019/2020 can use “Class Story” method.

Abstract

Register is a variety of languages ​​used based on usage, such as online game players who have certain types and functions of registers that distinguish the gamers profession from other professions. Mobile legends is an online game that is played in groups. In a Mobile Legends tournament, not only players are involved in a match but there will also be commentators who will guide and provide comments on the match. The purpose of this study is to analyze the form of the Register Language used by the Mobile Legends game commentator in the MPL season 5 tournament. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data collection was done by observing the data by replaying the MPL season 5 grand final video many times, then transcribing the video script based on the expressions used and matching the script directly. The data analysis carried out consisted of three processes, namely data selection, data processing, and conclusions. The results of this study found that there was a use of register language that came from a foreign language, namely English which was used by Mobile Legends commentators such as the words first blood, retreat, recall, and play off.

Abstract

The team of lecturers from the Institut Pendidikan Nusantara Global did socialization activities for the development of English language skills for the second class of MTs Darul Aminin NW Aikmual Lombok Tengah in order to fulfill one of the Tridharma elements of higher education in the field of community service. English grammar or grammar with Simple Present Tense material as a reference in developing English language skills in this community service. There were 35 students at MTs Darul Aminin NW Aikmual, all of whom came from class A. Each student had difficulties, especially in understanding the Simple Present Tense material, which was proven by the results of the pre-test. Efforts to develop English skills include a pre-test, discussion of material, games, practice questions, and post-test. Besides students being able to use sentence forms properly and correctly, students can also understand Simple Present Tense sentence forms with a new learning atmosphere and more fun learning methods and this is the result of this community service agenda.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop the English communication skill of the second class of the students of MTs Darul Aminin NW Aikmual Lombok Tengah NTB by using picture to determine the use ofpicture to develop the speaking skill and determine the students' speaking skill after using picture. The study is conducted at the second class of the students of MTs Darul Aminin NW Aikmual Lombok Tengah NTB. There were 40 Students consisting of 26 boys and 16 girls as the subject of the study.This study uses classroom action research (CAR). The results of this study are as follows. First, by applying the picture, it can develop the students' speaking skill. Students able to communicate communicatively, sequentially, well, and correctly, this can be seen after classroom action research has been carried out. Second, by applying the picture to the students in the teaching and the learning process in order to developthe students' English speaking skill, it can be seen through the increasing the results of the scores of English speaking skill.Therefore, it was suggested to the teachers especially the English teachers to used the picture as the teaching material to solve the students' problems not only in the picture but in other English skills too.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to develop the Speaking skills of the second class of the students of SMK Negeri 3 Gunungsari Lombok Barat through the use of TED Talk Videos. Listening to TED Talks Video can provide an overview of content structure, make content understanding more optimal, also facilitate the teaching and learning process in more depth, and make learning more stimulating because it applies new models in learning. Through the TED Talk Video, we can learn about the ability to speak effectively in public and learn how intonation, body movements, eye contact, and control awareness without anxiety, can boost students' self-confidence. Conduct socialization and education regarding efforts to develop speaking skills by using TED Talks Videos as a solution that can be used to overcome the English-Speaking Skill constraints of students at the[i] second class of SMK Negeri 3 Gunungsari Lombok Barat.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini berjudul Pelatihan Bahasa Inggris Komunikatif Dengan Menggunakan Metode Role Play Bagi Anak Usia Sekolah Dasar Di SDN 1 Semaya Kecamatan Sikur. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah membantu para siswa yang kesulitan dalam berbahasa inggris dengan menggunakan metode Role play. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dengancara mebagi kegiatamn menjadi 3 yaitu tahap perencanaan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap perencanaan keberlanjutan program. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah para siswa mampu berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa inggris dengan menggunakan kalimat sederhana.
