Referring to the data, more than half of the students got higher score in each aspect. Compared with Cycle 1, Cycle 2 was dominated by the students who got a score of 3 in each aspect, while Cycle 1 was dominated by the students who got score 2 and 1. Almost all students passed the criteria of success, 65. Therefore, the teachers were recommended to improve the students’ speaking ability using short dialogue memorization technique.

Abstract

Technology has had a major impact, especially on education. The integration of technology into ELT to facilitate the learning and teaching process has become a more and more popular trend. This research was a case study designed to explore the integration of technology into ELT by the lecturers of STBA Pontianak. The data were gathered from 3 full-time lecturers at the STBA Pontianak using semi-structured interviews, observation, and audiovisual materials. The research found out that the lecturers of STBA Pontianak had positive perceptions towards the integration of technology into ELT due to their belief in technology-enhanced language learning, technology knowledge, and understanding; two of them have been integrating technology as transformation (modification and redefinition) tools in its pedagogical processes; and the constraints of integrating technology into ELT dealt with the limited resources, time, internet access, and the technology that did not fit with the courses. It is suggested that the lecturers work in collaboration with each other to share ideas and teaching strategies, as wells as to integrate the technology into ELT.

In the analysis phase, the researcher interviewed the English teacher to find out the actual conditions of the students, the teacher, and the school. In the designing phase, the researcher observed the textbook and the curriculum applied in the school to design a significant product of Quizizz. During the development phase, the researcher used the Quizizz platform to develop the learning media for the students by combining multimedia such as images, GIFs, videos, and sounds. Then, the designed product was completed after having two internal evaluations to ensure that the product was usable and fulfilled all the assessment criteria. In conclusion, the Quizizz multimedia assessment assesses the mastery of simple past tense for year-8 students of SMP Immanuel 1 Pontianak.

This study has a problem that students have low motivation in speaking skill and the aim of this study is to examine how the size of the TikTok application affected on students’ speaking skill motivation of tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 Sungai Raya in the academic year 2021/2022. Pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design is used in this research process. The researcher selected  X Mia 3 by using the purposive sampling technique consisting of 32 students. The questionnaire sheet is the instrument used in this study. Pre-test and post-test data were collected and analyzed using a t-test. This study found that the average pre-test score was 79.43 and the post-test score was 84.53. The result of the t-test was 5.86. The t-table with 31 degrees of freedom (df) and a significance at level 0.05 was 2.03. Analysis of the data revealed that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted because the t-test was higher than the t-table (5.862.03). In addition, the effect size was 0.99, which is classified as a very strong effect (0.8). Thus, implementing the TikTok application very strong affects students' speaking  skill motivation.

Abstract

Most of the vocabulary in English has differences in written and spoken form, then it also takes time for the learners to recognize and memorize the new vocabularies that they have learned before they implement it in their conversation. The dual-coding theory believes when verbal and non-verbal stimuli are connected, it brings a deeper understanding and better imaging of certain things. The objectives of this study are to find out whether the use of nursery rhymes is significantly effective or not, and how effective the use of nursery rhymes is for vocabulary teaching processes based on the perspective of the dual-coding theory and the aspect of vocabulary knowledge to the elementary students. The participants of this study are 64 of the Year-3 students at MI Ushuluddin Singkawang in 2022/2023 of academic year divided into two groups, control and experimental group. The data were taken from the students’ pretest and posttest results and tools to measure the data were thirty numbers of short answer questions. The findings show nursery rhymes are significantly effective for the vocabulary teaching processes to the elementary students. Nursery rhymes not only run mechanically but also activate the students’ experiences, emotions, and thoughts through the process of repeating, reciting, then practicing related to the aspect of form, meaning, and use in vocabulary knowledge. All of these processes in the classroom bring a better recall for them specifically related to vocabulary learning.

Abstract

Educational methodologies have continually evolved to accommodate the diverse needs of learners. One such evolution has seen the rise of game-based learning, aiming to make education more interactive and engaging. This research focused on determining the efficacy of the Jeopardy game in enhancing the understanding of the simple present tense among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Sungai Ambawang during the Academic Year 2022/2023. Using a pre-experimental research design, this study delved into the potential advantages of game-based learning over traditional teaching methods. A sample size of 25 students from class VII A was meticulously chosen to ensure the results' consistency and accuracy. To measure the students' grasp of the simple present tense both before and after the Jeopardy game intervention, a multiple-choice test, consisting of 20 items, was administered. Each item in the test offered four options (a, b, c, and d) for students to choose from. Statistical analysis of the gathered data resulted in compelling outcomes. The null hypothesis (H0), which posited that the Jeopardy game would have no significant impact on the students' understanding of the simple present tense, was soundly rejected. In contrast, the alternative hypothesis (Ha), suggesting the game's effectiveness, was accepted. This conclusion was bolstered by a notable t-value of 9.62, surpassing the critical t-table value of 2.064 at 24 degrees of freedom with a 5% significance level. Furthermore, the study highlighted a strong effect size of 1.9, indicating the game's substantial impact on learning.
