Abstract

Cataracts are any conditions of turbidity in the lens that can occur due to hydration (addition of fluid) of the lens, denaturation of lens proteins or the result of both. Cataracts are generally a disease in the elderly, but can also be due to congenital abnormalities or complications of chronic local eye disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of the Bungo estuary community for cataract surgery in H. Hanafie General Hospital Muara Bungo Bungo Regency Jambi Province in 2018. The method used in this study was descriptive using total sampling. This research will be conducted at H. Hanafie General Hospital Muara Bungo Bungo Regency, Jambi Province. The time of this research was carried out from October to December 2018. The population of this study was all the people who came to visit the H. Hanafie General Hospital in Muara Bungo, Bungo Regency, Jambi Province, with a sample of 56 people. Univariate analysis is presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. Based on the results of the study obtained at most male sex namely 33 people (58.9%) and most were in the early elderly age of 23 people (41.1%), the most with good public perceptions of 26 people (46, 4%), at most with the feeling that patients who are going to have good cataract surgery are 37 people (66.1%) and at most with good expectations, 32 people (57.1%). In this study it was found that the public perception of cataract surgery in H. Hanafie General Hospital Muara Bungo, Bungo Regency, Jambi Province in 2018.

Abstract

Background : Diabetic retinopathy is a complication from diabetes as progressive microangiopathy causing microvascular damage on retina it can cause permanent blindness. Factors influencing the severity of diabetic retinopathy are hyperglycemic state, duration of sickness and hypertension. Surgical procedures for diabetic retinopathy is a vitrectomy to clean the cloudy vitreous caused by bleeding, thereby increasing visual acuity. Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine characteristics of diabetic retinopathy patients performed vitrectomy surgery. Methods : The type of this research is descriptive categoric with cross sectional design. The population in this study ware patients diabetic retinopathy patients performed vitrectomy surgery at RSKM Padang Eye Center in 2019-2020 with 50 patients. Univariate data analysis using the SPSS program version 25.0. Results : Characteristics of diabetic retinopathy patients performed vitrectomy surgery obtained the most age 46 to 55 years and 56 to 65 years each 17 people (34%), the gender was dominated female 29 people (58%), with type 2 diabetes type (98%), long duration of diabetes < 5 years (38%), with a history of hypertension as many as 38 people (76%), the most diabetic retinopathy PDR +PV (50%), with bilateral eye (86%), the most type of vitrectomy action was vitrectomy + endolaser + inj. Anti-VEGF (34%), experienced visus before treatment with bad category (96%), visus 1 month after surgery is mostly still in bad category (84%), and subjective visus quality of patients after 1 month of surgery (42%). Conclusion : Most age 46-65 years, female gender, type 2 diabetes melitus, longduration of diabetes <5 years, have a history of hypertension, with degree of PDR + PV, bilateral involved eyes, vitrectomy + endolaser + inj. Anti-VEGF, poor visus beforesurgery, visus after vitrectomy surgery is poor but there is improvement in visus by 38%, and the patient's subjective quality of visus after surgery improved.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Diabetes merupakan penyebab utama gangguan penglihatan di kalangan orang dewasa di Indonesia. Terapi standar emas untuk retinopati diabetik adalah fotokoagulasi panretinal, tetapi memiliki efek samping seperti kendala bidang visual perifer. Faktor pertumbuhan endotel vaskular (VEGF) dianggap sebagai patologi yang mendasari retinopati diabetik. Terapi anti-VEGF untuk retinopati diabetik telah dipelajari baru-baru ini. Kami mempelajari hasil visual pasien retinopati diabetik yang diobati dengan anti-VEGF. Metode: Kami mempelajari 52 pasien dengan retinopati diabetik dan memberikan terapi anti-VEGF yang menghadiri RSKM Padang Eye Center, sebuah rumah sakit perawatan mata tersier di Sumatera Barat selama tahun 2018. Diagnosis retinopati diabetik dikonfirmasi oleh dokter mata vitreoretinal. Ketajaman visual sebelum terapi dan setelah satu bulan terapi dengan injeksi intravitreal anti-VEGF dicatat. Hasil: Pasien retinopati diabetik rentang usia terbanyak pada usia 46 sampai 55 tahun (44,2%), dan menderita diabetes lebih dari 5-10 tahun (63,5%) %. Ketajaman penglihatan pasien sebelum pengobatan dengan anti-VEGF sebagian besar (55,8%) buruk (<6/60). Setelah satu bulan terapi, ketajaman penglihatan baik (>6/18) pada 44,2% pasien, penglihatan rata-rata (6/18-6/60) pada 23,1% dan penglihatan buruk (<6/60) pada 32,7% pasien. Pasien yang mengalami peningkatan kualitas visual subyektif setelah terapi adalah 69,2%. Kesimpulan: Terapi anti-VEGF untuk retinopati diabetik telah meningkatkan hasil visual pasien, baik secara objektif maupun subjektif.
