Abstract

One of the temporomandibular joint disorders that mostly occurs is disc displacement with reduction. Disc displacement that causes the displacement of condyle position can be evaluated by using radiograph. The Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT-3D) is a radiograph equipment which is able to capture the condyle position from many directions. This research was aimed to see the condyle position in patients with disc displacement with reduction symptoms. This research was conducted to 11 patients with symptoms of disc displacement with reduction and 3 patients without symptoms of disc displacement with reduction as the counterpart. What was conducted to the sample was the radiographic imaging using CBCT-3D radiography, followed by measuring the joint space distance in the sagittal and coronal directions. The result of the research was analyzed using the T-test. Statistically, the result of the test showed a significant difference ( = 0.05) between patients with disc displacement with reduction symptoms and the patients without symptoms, in sagittal and coronal views. The conclusion led to the difference in condyle positions in patients with the disc displacement with reduction and patients without the symptoms which meant there was a condyle position displacement that caused the distance alteration in joint space in sagittal and coronal directions.

Abstract

Introduction: The absorption of fluid in the heat cured acrylic resin is able to cause the increase in surface roughness. Absorption of acidic fluid such as soft drinks can cause even higher increase of surface roughness. The objective of this study was to determined the effect of soft drinks towards heat cured acrylic resin denture base surface roughness. Methods: Specimens of this study were 32 pieces of specimen with the size of 12×12×3 mm. Sixteen pieces of specimens were kept in aquadest as a control group and 16 pieces of specimens were immersed in the soft drinks as the treatment group. Initial surface roughness was measured using surface roughness tester. The specimens were then immersed in both immersion media for 2 days. After immersion, the surface roughness of specimens were measured again. Results: Data obtained on the roughness measurements were analyzed using paired t test with the results of the analysis showed a significant difference (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was concluded that there was increased in heat cured acrylic resin denture base surface roughness after immersed in soft drinks solvent.

Abstract

The assessment of denture plaque can provide valuable information regarding the status of denture hygiene. Denture hygiene is strongly influenced by the patient's socioeconomic condition and the duration of denture use. The commonly used material is the heat cure acrylic resin, which can naturally increase the surface roughness if used for a long time. To determine the differences in the formation of plaque in the denture intaglio in denture use duration. As many as 14 (fourteen) respondents as research subjects used the heat-cured acrylic resin denture and came to one of the Primary clinics in Banda Aceh between April-May 2020 (During the COVID-19 Pandemic). These subjects were divided into three groups, namely 1 year, 1-3 years, and ≥ three years. In this study, the assessment of denture plaque score was conducted by the visual plaque assessment method. The colored area was the intaglio denture area, which was left for 5 minutes. The images obtained were converted into the Tarbet index (Score 1-4). The study showed that each group's denture plaque scores had different denture plaque scores. The highest denture plaque scores were found in dentures used 1-3 years. Compared to 1 year and 3 years of use. The duration of use can affect the formation of denture plaque

Abstract

The dirty acrylic resin removable partial denture can destruct remaining mouth structure, halitosis, and bad aesthetic. Acrylic resin removable partial denture can be cleaned by brushing method, soaking, or a combination of both. The level of cleanliness of acrylic resin removable partial denture affected by frequency, the cleaning method, and dentist instructions. The main objective of this study is to determine the level of cleanliness of acrylic resin removable partial denture in terms of frequency and the cleaning method. The subject in this study were 32 people that wear acrylic resin removable partial denture in the residential complex of PT. Arun NGL with purposive sampling technique. This study’s scoring was based on Reddick et al studies to determine the level of cleanliness of acrylic resin removable partial denture. The results of this study showed that 100% of the subjects cleaning their denture 3 times a day and 100% of the subjects using the brushing method, in which 53,1% of the subjects wearing clean acrylic resin removable partial denture. The conclution of this study is that all of subject cleaning their denture everyday using the brushing method and the majority of the acrylic resin removable partial denture cleanliness level of subjects is cleaned.Keywords : Cleanliness, Acrylic Resin Removable Partial Denture, Frequency, Method

Abstract

AbstractThe vertical dimension is height of the vertical face which can be measured based on assesment offacial height proportion. Facial height proportion divided into upper and lower. A normal of upper andlower facial height proportion is 50%. Dental malocclusion is a deviate relation between teeth and thiscan be affect the height of a person's face. Angle classification is the most classification whichcommonly used nowadays. Angle classify based on relation between maxilla and mandible first molar.A lower facial height proportion in molar relation class II division 2 is smaller than class I. This isbecause the molar relation class II division 2 has a deep bite as a result of upwards and forwardsmandibular growth. This research is a descriptive survey that aims to see ilustration facial heightproportion in molar relation class I and class II division 2 Angle in Student Faculty of Dentistry SyiahKuala University. The subjects of this study was consists of 133 subjects with molar relation class I and6 subjects with molar relation class II division 2 which selection using purposive sampling. Measuringfacial height proportion was used sliding digital caliper which measured from glabella to menton point.The result of this study shown that average upper facial height proportion in molar relation class I is47,03% and class II division 2 is 48,15%. While, average lower facial height proportion in molarrelation class I is 52,97% and class II division 2 is 51,84%.Keywords : vertical dimension, facial height proportion and molar relation

Abstract

Resin akrilik heat cured merupakan material yang paling sering digunakan dalam pembuatan basisgigi tiruan. Seiring perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, termoplastik nilon juga menjadipilihan bagi material basis gigi tiruan. Material basis gigi tiruan mempunyai kekurangan pada sifatfisiknya, diantaranya adalah kekasaran permukaan. Kekasaran permukaan dapat terjadi pada resinakrilik heat cured dan termoplastik nilon diantaranya disebabkan karena terpaparnya material denganlarutan yang mengandung asam, salah satunya adalah kopi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahuiperbedaan kekasaran permukaan antara resin akrilik heat cured dan termoplastik nilon sebelum dansetelah direndam dalam larutan kopi Ulee Kareng (Coffea robusta). Jumlah spesimen pada penelitianini ada 8 spesimen, 4 resin akrilik heat cured Meliodent dan 4 termoplastik nilon BIO TONE denganukuran 20x20x2 mm. Spesimen direndam dalam larutan kopi selama 4 hari (mensimulasikanmengkonsumsi larutan kopi selama 1 tahun) dengan larutan kopi diganti setiap hari. Kekasaranpermukaan sebelum dan setelah perendaman diukur menggunakan alat surface roughness tester. Hasiluji t berpasangan pada kedua kelompok menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna kekasaran permukaansebelum dan setelah perendaman (p0.05), hasil uji t tidak berpasangan antara resin akrilik heat cureddan termoplastik nilon sebelum perendaman menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan bermakna (p0.05) dansetelah perendaman juga menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna (p0.05). Nilai kekasaran permukaanresin akrilik heat cured lebih tinggi dibandingkan termoplastik nilon setelah direndam dalam kopiUlee Kareng (Coffea robusta).Kata Kunci: Resin akrilik, termoplastik nilon, kopi

Abstract

Kehilangan gigi sebagian maupun seluruhnya memiliki dampak, yaitu dampak emosional, sistemik, dan fungsional. Terganggunya proses pengunyahan akibat kehilangan gigi dapat mempengaruhi pemilihan makanan sehingga terjadi perubahan pada asupan nutrisi. Perubahan pada gambaran asupan nutrisi memiliki dampak bagi tubuh, seperti terjadinya penyakit kronis, penurunan kemampuan fungsional, dan peningkatan kejadian infeksi sehingga dapat mempengaruhi kualitas hidup pasien. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran asupan nutrisi akibat kehilangan gigi sebagian berdasarkan jumlah gigi yang hilang pada pasien di Poli Gigi dan Mulut Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Zainal Abidin (RSUDZA) Banda Aceh yang berkunjung pada bulan Juni–Juli 2010. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian Non Eksperimental dan bersifat deskriptif analitik melalui wawancarasecara langsung menggunakan kuesioner dengan skala Likert. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah teknik penarikan sampel nonpropabiliti secara purposive, dengan jumlah sampel 120 orang yang terdiri dari 53 orang laki-laki (44,17%) dan 67 orang perempuan (55,83%). Sampel yang digunakan adalah pasien dengan kriteria berusia lebih dari 20 tahun, yang kehilangan gigi sebagian dan belum pernah menggunakan gigi tiruan. Pengolahan data dilakukan secara statistik dengan Program SPSS menggunakan uji Chi-Square dan Kruskal-Wallis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pola asupan nutrisi akibat kehilangan gigi sebagian pada pasien dirasakan berubah lebih dari setengah jumlah pasien dengan persentase tertinggi pada perasaan kesulitan memakan makanan yang mengandung protein dan lemak, sedangkan persentase terendah pada perasaan kesulitan memakan makanan yang mengandung vitamin C. Pola asupan nutrisi akibat kehilangan gigi sebagian pada pasien berdasarkan jumlah gigi yang hilang secara keseluruhan dirasakan berubah paling tinggi tingkat kesulitannya pada kelompok jumlah gigi yang hilang 22–28 gigi (76,2%) dan terendah yang merasa kesulitan pada kelompok jumlah gigi yang hilang 1–7 gigi (46,8%).

Abstract

Resin akrilik heat cured merupakan material yang sering digunakan dalam pembuatan basis gigi tiruan. Resin akrilik sering direndam dalam larutan pembersih gigi tiruan untuk menghilangkan mikroorganisme. Infusa daun kemangi 50% terbukti dapat menurunkan jumlah koloni Candida albicans sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai bahan alternatif pembersih gigi tiruan. Namun, resin akrilik heat cured bersifat menyerap cairan yang diduga dapat menyebabkan perubahan dimensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh durasi perendaman resin akrilik heat cured dalam infusa daun kemangi 50% terhadap perubahan dimensi. Spesimen pada penelitian ini berjumlah 20 buah dan berbentuk silinder berukuran diameter 50 ± 1 mm d an tebal 1 ± 0.5 mm. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji Friedman dan diuji lanjut dengan Wilcoxon. Hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna (p˂0.05) perubahan dimensi resin akrilik heat cured setelah perendaman dalam infusa daun kemangi 50% antara setiap kelompok durasi perendaman. Perbedaan yang tidak bermakna hanya terdapat antara kelompok setelah perendaman 5 dan 7 hari dengan nilai p0.05. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah adanya pengaruh durasi perendaman resin akrilik heat cured dalam infusa daun kemangi 50% terhadap perubahan dimensi.Kata kunci: Resin akrilik heat cured, kemangi

Abstract

Resin akrilik heat cured sering digunakan sebagai basis gigi tiruan. Resin akrilik heat cured memiliki kemampuan menyerap larutan sehingga menyebabkan kenaikan berat dan ekspansi linier. Basis gigi tiruan resin akrilik dapat dibersihkan dengan larutan sodium hipoklorit 0,5%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama perendaman resin akrilik heat cured dalam larutan sodium hipoklorit 0,5% selama 1, 3, 5, dan 7 hari terhadap perubahan dimensi. Penelitian ini menggunakan 15 spesimen resin akrilik heat cured (merek Meliodent, diameter = 50 ± 1 mm dan tebal = 0,5 ± 0,1 mm) yaitu 10 spesimen direndam dalam larutan sodium hipoklorit 0,5% dan 5 spesimen dalam akuades (kontrol). Perendaman dilakukan selama 1, 3, 5 dan 7 hari. Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimental laboratoris dengan menggunakan neraca analitik digital dan jangka sorong digital untuk mengukur perubahan dimensi pada spesimen resin akrilik heat cured. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Repeated ANOVA. Hasil analisis menunjukkan ada perbedaan bermakna perubahan dimensi setelah direndam dalam larutan sodium hipoklorit 0,5% selama 1, 3, 5, dan 7 hari (p 0,05). Analisis Pairwise Comparisons menunjukkan ada perbedaan bermakna perubahan dimensi resin akrilik heat cured setelah perendaman selama 1 hari (p 0,05) dibandingkan perendaman selama 3, 5, dan 7 hari (p 0,05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah ada pengaruh lama perendaman resin akrilik heat cured dalam larutan sodium hipoklorit 0,5% terhadap perubahan dimensi.

Abstract

Lansia merupakan kelompok usia dengan berbagai masalah kesehatan, salah satunya masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Kebutuhan perawatan gigi dan mulut dapat dilihat melalui perceived need yaitu kebutuhan perawatan menurut persepsi individu dan evaluated need yaitu kebutuhan perawatan yang ditentukan melalui pemeriksaan klinis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebutuhan perawatan gigi dan mulut pada lansia. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang dilakukan di Posyandu Lansia Puskesmas Lampulo Kecamatan Kuta Alam Kota Banda Aceh. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 32 orang yang diambil secara total sampling kemudian subjek diwawancarai terkait penilaian perceived need dan dilakukan pemeriksaan klinis untuk melihat evaluated need yaitu pemeriksaan kedalaman dan luas kavitas, derajat kegoyangan gigi, resesi gingiva, poket gingiva, kehilangan gigi, dan sisa akar. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh perceived need berupa pencabutan 25%, tambal 12,5%, gigi palsu 18,8%, keluhan lain 3,1%, dan tidak membutuhkan perawatan 40%. Kebutuhan perawatan berdasarkan evaluated need berupa gigi tiruan 100%, ekstraksi 75%, restorasi 62,5% dan perawatan periodontal 59,4%.
