Abstract

Everything changes, no exception with how the way to communicate, language through the times. In communication among the times, we found the phenomena which related to language barriers, i.e. the difference of cross-culture, race, ethnicity, gender, customs. Furthermore, based on the phenomenon above, it becomes very interesting to explore languages and cultures especially in hedge expression in literary text from the novel of ABC Murder written by Agatha Christie and it’s two decade of translation versions, 1976 and 2017. This study is aim to find the function and form of hedge and the translation technique among two translation versions. This study used qualitative research method with the data collection technique by using purposive sampling. Moreover, the collected data are analyzed and classified to see the translation technique used. Additionally, interpretation of the data will have discussed in this paper. Translation technique proposed by Molina & Albir used to see the technique used by translator. The results of the study show that, hedge expression gave an impact in our speech act, especially in politeness context. Moreover, the deletion or the shifting of hedge can change our utterance in cooperative principle context.

Abstract

Nowadays, technology helps us to make life easier. However, the existence of technology sometimes causes significant problems such as subtitle automation on YouTube channels on booster expressions that help us to understand the meaning of Cultural Specific Items (CSI) or Specific Cultural Elements in the Malam Minggu Miko 2 series by Raditya Dika. The existence of the free translation feature raises the unclear expression of the booster, confusing the audience reading the target text. This research is a qualitative research method with a case study embedded in the Sunday Night episode Miko 2: Cosplay Sakura which has been watched by more than one million viewers. The results of this study indicate that booster expressions in the speech of characters in YouTube subtitles are influenced by aspects of multimodality, especially in transferring Specific Cultural Elements by looking at discourse in the text.

Abstract

English is an international language. In Indonesia, English is taught as a foreign language (English as a Foreign Language/EFL) from Elementary Schools to Higher Education. Especially at the University of Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya and IAIN Palangka Raya consider the importance of English which is shown through the TOEFL test and meet the scores determined before they are Judisium or Munakasah and have completed the thesis hearing in one semester. There were 20 participants from the Palangkaraya UM Students and Palangkaraya IAIN. The training method used in the English equivalent of Toefl training on Reading Tests is to use the Toefl training module on Reading Tests and also using a computerized software program in Toefl training on Reading Tests. The results of this training The training activities showed an increase between the pre-test and post-test results. The mean pre-test was 61 and the post-test mean increased to 83.6. In the pretest conducted to 20 participants were in the low category with a total of 4 people, a medium category of 13 people and a high of 3 people. The post-test results showed an increase in the score, namely the low category of 4 people, the medium category of 12 people and the high category increased to 4 people.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui punahnya adat dan budaya membawa Sasanggan pada acara perkawinan bagi masyarakat Anjir Serapat. Penelitian dilakukan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian terdiri para tokoh adat dan masyarakat, analisis data dilakukan secara simultan dan terus menerus sejak dimulai hingga akhir penelitian, terdiri dari data condensation, data display dan drawing and verifying conclusions. Untuk menguji keabsahan data dilakukan triangulasi, member check dan diskusi. Hasil penelitian bahwa punahnya kearifan lokal adat dan budaya membawa Sasanggan dalam saruan pada acara perkawinan bagi masyarakat Anjir Serapat disebabkan: Pertama, terbuka ketertutupan masyarakat atas keberadaan adat dan budaya dikarenakan ketidakmampuan masyarakat mempertahankan dari pengaruh globalisasi. Kedua, derasnya informasi yang diterima masyarakat melalui sosial media. Ketiga, berubahnya perilaku kehidupan masyarakat.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: learning outcomes and economic learning activities using the Peer Friend Tutor Method in Class Students. The method used in this study is to use a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design that seeks to overcome the problems faced in the current situation. The subjects needed in this study were students of class XI IPS 1 in SMA 1 Palangka Raya, which numbered 40 students. The results of the study show that: (1) the learning activities of the class students are very good. The results of observations of the first cycle of learning activities of students gained a score of 3.03 with good criteria, and the second cycle of activities of students experienced an increase in obtaining a score of 3.81 with good criteria. (2) There is an increase in economic learning outcomes. In the classical pre-test, there were 17.5% of students who completed with an average score of 59.75. After being implemented in the first cycle of students who completed it increased to 67.5% of students who completed classically with an average of 78.12. In the second cycle classically 97.5% of students completed with an average value of 86.25

Abstract

This study aims to improve learning outcomes and describe the learning activities of students in the process of economic learning using the Cooperative Type Jigsaw learning model. The subjects in this study amounted to 37 students of class XI-8 of SMAN-4 Palangkaraya. The method used is to use Classroom Action Research (CAR). For data collection techniques used are observation, documentation, and tests. research results: (1) Learning activities of students are more active during the economic learning process by using the Cooperative Type Jigsaw learning model; (2) There is an increase in economic learning outcomes. This is seen from the data on student learning outcomes, in the first cycle the average student learning outcomes were 70.14 and classical completeness was 64.86% and in the second cycle it increased to 83.24 and classical completeness was 86.49% . The minimum standard for completeness determined by schools for Economics is 75.
