Abstract

Today, many cosmetic products are unhealthy and un-quality. Nowadays, the lifestyle trend of "back to nature" is increasing where people's trust in active compounds of natural materials is relatively safer than synthetic chemical compounds. Therefore, creating healthy and quality products at affordable prices is the focus of the government. Cosmetics are ingredients or preparations intended for use on the outside of the human body (epidermis, hair, nails, lips, and outer genital organs) or teeth and mucous membranes of the mouth, especially to cleanse, scent, change the appearance, and or improve body odor or protect or maintain the body in good condition. The activities that will be carried out are a demonstration of the manufacture of cosmetics of natural materials by a team of lecturers to the community in The Village of Sungai Tiung, Cempaka, Banjarbaru to improve the quality of public health knowledge and insights towards the training of cosmetic natural materials so that people can use the natural ingredients around as cosmetics and have a selling value, such as rose water, masks, and body butter. So that the cosmetic natural ingredients have the potential to be developed into natural mask ingredients for the face. It is expected that residents can use coffee, green tea, rose petals, oats, and rice as natural cosmetic ingredients for treatment and can increase their economic value as a business opportunity.

Abstract

Prevention of the spread of Covid-19 is an essential effort when there are still highly favorable rates & deaths. The provision of education to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is always carried out with community awareness-based programs to maintain immunity. Community service by utilizing kalakai as a natural antioxidant becomes one of the alternatives to support the government. Kalakai (Stenochlaena palustris (Burm. F) Bedd.)) is a nail plant that is one of the plants with antioxidants typical of Kalimantan whose history is used as traditional medicine. This potential can be utilized and applied through the empowerment of the community of Palam Village, Cempaka Subdistrict, where many Kalakai plants grow wild. The problems found include lack of information and lack of skills of citizens in food processing based on Kalakai plants, especially in terms of food processing with high antioxidants in the form of counseling to the PKK mothers group Palam Cempaka-Banjarbaru Village. The activity method is the extension of educational provision, namely the theory of antioxidants and the potential of Kalakai, and the direct demonstration/practice of making syrups, teas, and kalakai candy. Residents expect to develop processed food products into UMKM, especially of Palam village, as a business opportunity to improve people's living standards.

Abstract

Abstract

Acne is a pile of oil glands in the skin that are actively being clogged by dirt and infection because of Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. The treatment for acne can use herbal ingredients, one of which is Soursop (Annona muricata L.) leaves ethanolic extract. Annona muricata folium ethanolic extract is known to have alkaloid, flavonoid and polyphenol compounds which can inhibit the growth of P. acnes, S. epidermidis, and S. aureus. Suitable dosage forms for anti-acne preparations are gels because the gel contains much water so that it provides a cooling effect on the skin due to inflammation. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of carbopol 940 and Propylene glycol on the physical characteristics of the gel preparation and determine the optimum formula of the gel preparation using factorial design software 22 so that the gel preparation was made in four formulas. The data obtained were then analyzed using Design-Expert® and ANOVA software with a confidence level of 95%, and the determination of the optimum formula based on the optimum superimposed contour plot area. The results of the study using a factorial design approach are known that Propylene glycol has an effect on increasing the spreadability and pH while carbopol 940 has a more significant impact on the increase in adhesion and viscosity, and the optimum area of the composition of carbopol 940 1.536% and propylene glycol 5% was obtained.
