Abstract

Silk screen printing is the most demanding printing until now. Besides the processing was easy and simple, this printing technique is easy to be understood in a relatively short time. The most important thing in silk screen printing is perseverance, accuration, and creativity. By the relatively low cost, could begin to learn silk screen printing technique.The processing of silk screen printing can be done manually, with a drop of equipment. Starting from the process of image planning, copy process, until the printing process, all of these phases could be done without the support of developing technologies. However it can not be denied that the rapidly developing technologies make the work easier.

Abstract

Cultural association analysis of color is an approach to know color from the side of culture. Unlike the previous color studies which see the color from the aspect of psychology, this research of color aims to provide insight based on the colors from local culture. Johannes Itten’s theory of color was used as a basis of thought in this research. The theory was reflected to Indonesian cultures, and this time, represented by Java island. Research used qualitative method by literature study, interviewing the color experts, historians and artists, visiting cultural centers. Results of the research are in the form of morphological matrix cultural over color. Matrix of analysis resulted in argument and study proposal. Students implemented the color schemes from 5 big cities in Java. They were asked to change the color composition of food and beverage packaging. Students may use, explore, and maximize the principle of color in visual communication to achieve contrast and balance.

Abstract

Relief printing is the most demanding printing until now. Through the linocut, it can produced interesting artwork of relief printing. Besides the processing was easy and simple, this printing technique is easy to be understood in a relatively short time. The most important thing in relief printing is perseverance, accuration, and creativity. It can also bring forward the expression through the resulting work of printmaking, so that the relief printing becomes an alternative media to convey the message. By the relatively low cost, anyone could begin to learn this printing technique. Almost the whole working process was done manually, with a drop of equipment. Starting from the process of image planning, cutting process, until the printing process, all of these phases could be done without the support of developing technologies. Many opinions said that the rapidly developing technologies make the work easier, but instead several aesthetics value could not be achieved by sophisticated technology.

Abstract

In daily life, color gives the spontaneous effect to psychological of people who see that color. When connected to the world of design and advertising, color could become one of the main tools to communicate the message. Therefore, the colour can conduce to increase the sales value or strengthen the image of product or corporate. Color is one of the important parts which can be an attraction of a product, artwork or design. Color provides excellence in design. Each color has difference psychological effects, so that a designer can choose and accommodate the colors with the product to be advertised. Perception of color will be different between one person to the others. It is influenced by the culture of certain countries. In some regions or countries, colors have different meanings, then it becomes the order of designers to compose colors that will be used so thatappropriate to the design that will be made.

Abstract

Cultural studies is a diversity knowledge from different variety of perspectives, through the production of theory trying to intervene in political culture. Cultural studies explores culture as a practice purport in the context of social force. In this case, cultural studies is not only based on one point only, but also cultural studies tries to compose a variety of theoretical studies of other disciplines developed wider, so that covers a wide range of academic theories that already existed, including Marxism, Structuralism, Post-structuralism, and feminism. By eclectic method, cultural studies puts the positioning to all knowledges, including on its knowledge which integrates with culture, practice of signification, representation, discourse, authority, articulation, text, read, and consumption. Cultural studies could be described as a language game or formation of discourse associated with relation to power in signification practice of human life. In addition to cultural studies, there is also feminism theory participated in the concept of feminist cultural studies that reconstructs and transforms view of misperception between feminism and cultural studies. Feminism affects cultural studies, but not all feminism can be viewed as cultural studies, and not all cultural studies talks about gender. Both of cultural studies and feminism have substantive importance in relation to power, representation, pop-culture, subjectivity, identity and consumption. The theory of social construction is also has connectivity with cultural studies. Construction of reality is inseparable from mark, symbol, and language. Media are full of reality constructed for people to affect people as ethics persuasion in media do.

Abstract

Since the beginning logo recognized, it already has experienced development in terms of reasoning aspect. At the beginning logo meant words, mind, symbol, image, and semiotic, then changes into flag, signature, and symbol, which indirectly can provide the identity, information, and persuasion that eventually functions as media for marketing. In the design world, it always appears questions about the importance of a logo should be designed. Here is the thing discussed through the description of the function of a logo and the process of designing a logo. Because not all the redesign of an existing logo will bring better imaging results although the main goal of designing a logo is for positive things.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, along with expanding the market, many companies are competing to attract the attention of consumers to buy their products. One way to compete and survive in this growing market is by creating an image and visual identity. Strong characters could position the image of a company, visual identity is so necessary in showing the image which wants to be introduced to the public. The vigorous competition between firms creates visual identity, become a prominent feature of each companies. Therefore, it is needed a visual communication designer who can create and develop the concept of corporate identity systems. Visual communication designer also have responsibility to create identity into a system that does not sell directly, but provides identity, information, persuasive and ultimately serves as an effective marketing media.

Abstract

Various ways had been taken to promote the Indonesian culture in conventional media such as magazines, books, and even articles. The receiver generation who had lived in the abundance of technological world of digital media was the next target of inheritance and one way to do it was with the mobile application technology. So, it would be nice if the society started to take a big step to be more focused in the dissemination of culture and pass it following the development of the time, of course, without losing national identity. One of many interesting Indonesian Culture was Topeng Bali (Balinese Mask). Through observation and field research, knowledge about the art of Balinese mask was gathered, and later present it in form of mobile application. This research used the qualitative and quantitative method. The qualitative research was done by collecting data sampling from some of the selected target markets in limited quantities, while quantitative research was done by spreading the questionnaires that will be created and distributed to the main target market but not in the number and selected resource persons. This research finds that the mobile application is deemed appropriate to be one medium that can distribute effectively and efficiently in promoting one of Indonesia culture, Balinese mask.

Abstract

AbstractNational Identity Representation of the New National Museum of Indonesia. The Collection of the National Museum of Indonesia is a manifest of national identity. The National Museum should represent various elements that define an identity of a nation. At the same time we also need to critically assess the role of the National Museumin the construction of nation identity. Since the beginning of its founding, Indonesia is a nation with diverse components. However in recent times there have been many instances where people seem to have forgotten the importance of these diversities. At the moment the National Museum of Indonesia is undergoing a major restoration with the strategy to incorporate storyline as a path to present its collections. This researchaims to assess the representation of national identity within this new approach. By incorporating observation on the National Museum of Indonesia and Linggarjati Museum as comparative studies as a methodology, continued with interviews, analysis and synthesis. The final result of this research will give a recommendation that hopefullywill give benefit the National Museum of Indonesia.  AbstrakPeran Storyline pada Representasi Identitas Nasional di Museum NasionalIndonesia Baru. Namun akhir-akhir ini, berbagai peristiwa yang mencederai kebangsaan seakan menjadi pertanda bahwa banyak di antara masyarakat kita yang mulai melupakan pentingnya keberagaman. Saat ini, Museum Nasional hendak berbenah diri, melebarkan sayap dan membangun tata visual baru dengan berdasar pada storyline. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkajirepresentasi identitas nasional pada Museum Nasional Indonesia yang baru. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi observasi pada Museum Nasional Indonesia dan Museum Linggarjati sebagai pembanding, dilanjutkan dengan tahapan wawancara, analisis dan sintesa. Hasil akhir dari penelitian berbentuk kajian ini berupa rekomendasi yang dapatdigunakan sebagai rujukan oleh pihak Museum Nasional Indonesia.
