Abstract

Biogas from Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is one of renewable energy resources that can be used to reduce theuse of fossil energy in satisfying the electricity needs. At biogas power plant, gas engine is an importantcomponent which functions to convert the energy contained biogas into mechanical energy to drive the electricgenerator. Because of its important function, the performance of the gas engine needs to be maintained in orderto remain well operated. In addition to maintaining the performance of gas engine, steps in improving theefficiency of gas engine energy usage also need to be done in order to become more efficient. Efficiency of thegas engine depends on the overall efficiency of cylinders gas engine in order to convert the energy of fuel intowork. Energy analysis is needed to know the efficiency of multi-cylinder gas engine at biogas power plant, so itcan be known the gas engine performance and can be used for further analysis in increasing the efficiency of theuse of renewable energy sources (biogas) in gas engine. The purpose of this research was to know the energy orthermal efficiency of gas engine. Variables used in the analysis were a composition of biogas, flow rate ofbiogas, a temperature of gas mixture entering the gas engine and temperature of exhaust gas. The energyanalysis result showed that the efficiency of all cylinders varies and the greatest energy or thermal efficiency ofgas engine is on 5th and 10th cylinder (56.29%) and lowest in 8th cylinder (56.17%). Abstract

The gas power plant in Tanjung Datuk has been required in optimal condition, because it has crucial role to supply electricity for Pekanbaru areas. This research purposed to analyze and evaluate the performance of generator machine at gas power plant in Tanjung Datuk. There are two generator machines that always operate for 24 hours, so the maintenance of these machines has been essential to applied. One of maintenance approach is the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). In this research, the TPM tool to measure effectiveness machine of generator used Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), continued to analyze the OEE six big losses. After that, calculation of Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) to know the lifespan or maintenance on generator machine especially on AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) component. The results were obtained the OEE value rate of 63.98%, the value of MTTF and need to be treated every 1,688.17 hours, while for the MTTR value of 1.831 hours. To improve the effectiveness of the generator machine has done the maintenance in accordance with the appropriate schedule and implementation of the TPM approach.Keywords: OEE, Generator, TPM, Mean Time To Failure ( MTTF) dan Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).

Abstract

PLTMG have an efficiency increase of between 30-50%. This value is still not optimal because the utilization is less efficient. The engine is more often operated, the engine need maintenance for better performance. The decrease inengine performance produces wasted energy so that engine efficiency is not optimal. In addition, the maintenance process takes a long time until the engine can be operated again. This is a problem because the maintenance process iscarried out on all cylinder engines. The purpose of this research are for calculating, analysing and testing of exergy destroyed in the cylinder unit of the Balai Pungut PLTMG gas fuel unit 4. From the analysis, the biggest efficiency ofenergy is before overhaul which is 46,3 %.Keywords : dual fuel, energy, exergy, engine, efisiensi energy

Abstract

Waste of fronds is solid palm oil waste generated from palm oil plantations. To increase the value added, then this waste can be utilized as charcoal briquettes that can be used as an alternative energy source. The purpose of this study were (1) to know proximasi briquettes from palm fronds with adhesive wastewater CPO (Crude Palm Oil), (2) determine the resistance (durability) briquettes palm fronds with CPO adhesive liquid waste, (3) determine the calorific value contained in briquettes midrib palm oil CPO adhesive liquid waste, (4) determine the length of time the use of briquettes in water heating compared with a stove. This study used an experimental method, the object is to use waste oil palm fronds which uses wastewater from the processing of the PKS as an adhesive. By comparison wastewater PKS and palm fronds charcoal that is 30%: 70%, 35%: 65%, 40%: 60%, 45%: 55%, 50%: 50%, 55%: 45%, 60%: 40%, 65%, 35% and 70%: 30%. Based on the research results, obtained the best calorific value contained in the particle size of 50 mesh with the average value of 29176,921 J / g.Keywords: Waste oil palm fronds, charcoal briquettes, endurance (durability), calorific value.

Abstract

The development of a country coupled by the economic growth of its people, the example of a small economy is small and medium enterprises. The development of small and medium enterprises needs to be considered in line with economic growth. One of the small and medium business units in Riau is the fish meatballs processing. In the process of fish meatballs boiling have a convection heat transfer process between water and fish meatballs and conducting in a sphere of meatballs. The purpose of this research was to design the vessel of boiling fish braid container with 1000 W power capacity with automatic temperature control system. Based on the results of the study produced dimension 78 × 20 × 25 cm thickness of 1.4 mm plate and stiffeners. The result of the test result is 2.5 hours and is actually 1 hour 20 minutes. The boiling time of meatballs with size 3.1 cm is 15 minutes theoretically and 4.6 minutes onaverage from test result. The total mass of processed meatballs is 3.12 kg with total wheat balls of 163 grains.Safety factor that obtained by using software ANSYS Workbench V15.0 is 1.6.Keywords: design boiling vessel, heat transfer conduction transient, safety factor.

Abstract

The Steam Power Plant (PLTU) plays a major role in the supply of electricity in Indonesia today. In general, the performance of the power plant is evaluated by using the first thermodynamic law (energy conservation law). For this reason, energy analysis is based on the first law of thermodynamics which can be studied more deeply about the amount of energy in each component of the power plant. The purpose of this study was to analyze the amount of energy in each component in the dual fuel line 3 steam power plant PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper Pangkalan Kerinci. The results showed that the energy value at pump I was (0.006 MW) followed by pump II (2.219 MW), Steam Turbine (88.719 MW), boiler (258,019 MW) and condenser (76.83 MW). Abstract

The purpose of this research was testing the performance of diesel engines using a mixture of B20 biodieselfuel which commercialized in Indonesia and crude palm oil with a ratio of 95: 5, 90:10 and 85:15 respectively anda pre-heating process for mixtures is carried out. Fuel temperature was varied with 60℃, 75℃ and 90℃ before injection into the combustion chamber and compares the test data with pure B20 biosolar fuel. The performance of a diesel engine showed that by using a fuel mixture there was no significant change in the amount of effective power,torque and BMEP at constant rotation. Specific fuel consumption using a mixture of fuel without preheating process has decreased compared to using pure B20 biodiesel diesel fuel while efficiency increases. SFC value of fuel mixture with preheating process was smaller than the mixture of fuel without preheating but the thermal efficiencyincreased. The ideal temperature of the fuel mixture is 75oC for each mixed variation.Keywords: Diesel engines, biodiesel, performance, pre-heating, crude palm oil

Abstract

Biomass gasification is a very complex thermo chemical process which involves the reaction of a chemical reaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the reactor dimensions as a reference in making a gaifier made from empty fruit bunches by obtain optimum working conditions and simulate CH4, CO, dan H2 pruducts in the reactor by varying the amount and position of air entering the reactor. This researh utilized software GAMBIT 2.4.6 for meshing and boundary identification and FLUENT 6.3.26 for simulation. Mass flow rate of feed empty fruit bunches waste in the simulation was 10 kg/jam with variations of air equivalence ratio ie 0.2, 0.25, 0.3 and the number of nozzles 2,3 and 4. From the simulations results, the highest combustible gas was obtained when the variable of ER value = 0.3 and number of nozel 2 ie CO = 18.53 %, H2 = 0.9 % and CH4 = 0.0365 % with HHV = 24.85 kJ/Nm3.Keywords : Empty Palm Bunches, Gasification, CFD, FLUENT

Abstract

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel that can be used to replace fossil fuels such as Diesel, which are increasingly depleting. Biodiesel has a higher viscosity, density, and surface tension value than conventional fossil fuels. The level used by the Indonesian government is 20-30% Biodiesel content, which is then added with Diesel fuel. If the percentage level of Biodiesel is increased, there are several ways that can be used to improve engine performance, one of which is to adjust the fogging pressure. This study aims to determine the effect of increasing fuel injection pressure on diesel engine performance using Biosolar B40. The research was carried out by means of a diesel engine operated at a constant rotation of 900 rpm, and given a load of 2,500 kg/m2 to 15,000 kg/m2. To improve fuel atomization, the authors change the fogging pressure by rotating the adjusting screw contained in the fuel nozzle and then tested using an injector tester so that the pressure values are 110 bar, 120 bar, 130 bar, 140 bar, and 150 bar. The calculated parameters include Δh on the orifice, the volume of fuel used, fuel consumption time, and engine rpm. In the tests conducted, it was found that variations in injection pressure have an effect on engine performance parameters such as effective shaft power, brake mean effective pressure, thermal efficiency values, air fuel ratio, and specific fuel consumption which are better than standard pressure. Where for the best engine performance value at an injection pressure of 150 bar, with an effective shaft power of 3,775 kW at a maximum load of 15,000 kg/m2, the greatest value of bmep at a load of 15,000 kg/m2 is 665.415 N/m2, the best thermal efficiency at a load of 12,500 kg/m2 is 89.902 %, for a better air and fuel ratio with a value of 212.852 at a load of 2,500 kg/m2, and the smallest specific fuel consumption with a value of 0.0000235 kg/kW.s at a load of 12,500 kg/m2. Abstract

Furnace is a heating equipment for petroleum processing, which requires the largest operational costs in the processing business. During the first quarter of 2019 Pertamina II of the total raw materials used amountedto 10.16% for processing energy needs of which 75% of the energy consumed by the furnace. Furnaces that are operated with optimal conditions will result in savings in operational costs. Analysis of furnaces has been carried out by analyzing energy efficiency after Turn Around in 2019 and comparing it with data before Turn Around in 2017. As a result, efficiency was obtained after Turn Around in 2019 by 97% and before Turn Around in 2017 at 68% -75%. It was known that when TA-2017 has been carried out a total replacement of tubes,castables, and stacks or repairs of the mayor. Meanwhile, when TA-2019 was carried out repairs and cleaning or minor repairs.Keywords: furnace, energy. efficiency, crude oil, residue
