Abstract

The purpose of this research is to increase students' understanding of the concept of a one-variable linear equation system with a problem solving approach in Class VII MTs Al-Khairat Kec. Middle Mother. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). While the technique in data collection is data obtained from sources of students and teachers in conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results of data analysis prove that the comparison of the average value of student learning outcomes after applying learning using the Problem Solbing model has an increase in learning outcomes as much as 16.33%, from 65.89% it increases to 82.22%. And an increase of 4.26%, namely from the first cycle of 82.22% to 86.48%. This success can be said because of the comparison from pre-cycle to cycle I (good qualification level) and from cycle I to cycle II (excellent qualification level). Therefore, the research can conclude that 1) Efforts to improve students' understanding of concepts in the one variable equation system material with a problem solving approach in class VII MTs Al-Khairat Kec. Mother is being applied effectively and efficiently, smoothly and completely, which can be seen from the seriousness of the students in listening to the lesson. The results of the observation show that students are not very happy but still need a long time to adjust to the learning environment. 2) The problem solving method can improve students' conceptual understanding skills on the one-variable linear equation system material at MTs Al-Khairat Kec. Ibu Tengah, this can be seen in the learning outcomes that the average value of the results of learning outcomes for a single variable linear equation system using the prosolving method has increased by 16.33%, from 65.89% to 82.22%. And an increase of 4.26%, namely from the first cycle of 82.22% to 86.48%. This success can be said because of the comparison from pre-cycle to cycle I (good qualification level) and from cycle I to cycle II (excellent qualification level).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of students' difficulties in solving two-variable systems of linear equations problems in terms of metacognition awareness and the factors that influence students' difficulties in solving two-variable systems of linear equations problems. This research is a qualitative research using a descriptive approach. Subject collection was carried out by giving metacognitive awareness questionnaires to class VII students of SMP Negeri 4 North Halmahera. From these results, 3 subjects were purposively selected based on categories, namely subjects with high metacognitive awareness, subjects with moderate metacognitive awareness and subjects with low metacognitive awareness. The instruments used were the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) questionnaire developed by Scraw & Dennison which contained 30 statement items, a diagnostic test for the difficulty of solving a two-variable linear equation system problem which contained 2 item description questions and an interview guide. Problem solving difficulties were analyzed based on Polya's problem solving steps, namely difficulty understanding the problem, difficulty thinking of plans, difficulty implementing plans and difficulty reviewing. The results showed: 1) Subjects with high metacognitive awareness only found it difficult to understand the problems in word problems. 2) Subjects with metacognitive awareness are experiencing three difficulties in solving real problems related to the two-variable linear equation system material, namely difficulty thinking of plans, difficulty implementing plans and difficulty reviewing. 3) Subjects with low metacognitive awareness experience the most difficulty in solving problems of systems of two-variable linear equations. Subjects experienced four types of difficulties, namely difficulty understanding the problem, difficulty thinking of plans, difficulty implementing plans and difficulty reviewing.

Abstract

This research and development aims 1) to determine the feasibility of developing mathematics learning media using the Macromedia Flash application program, 2) to determine the attractiveness of student responses to the development of mathematics learning media using the Macromedia Flash application program. This research was conducted using the Research & Development (R & D) method using the modified Borg & Gall development procedure, namely 10 stages, limited to the 7th stage. Data collection techniques using validation questionnaire sheets. The instrument used is a validation questionnaire sheet to determine the feasibility of the module and a student response questionnaire to determine attractiveness. The data analysis technique used in research and development is descriptive quantitative to process data in the form of scores from assessments by the validator and student responses, while descriptive qualitative is to describe the data in the form of comments suggesting improvements from the validator. Based on the validation results for the development of mathematics learning media using the macromedia flash application program, an average score is obtained; (1) the feasibility of developing mathematics learning media using the macromedia flash application program validation results from material experts obtained an average of 3.73, on the linguistic aspect an average of 3.64, on the evaluation feasibility aspect an average of 3.66, media experts obtained an average score (the media efficiency aspect obtained an average score of 3.87, the button function aspect obtained an average score of 3.5 and the Graphic aspect obtained an average score of 3.4). The product validation results are in the feasible criteria, (2) the attractiveness of the development of mathematics learning media using the macromedia flash application program student responses obtained an average score of 3.61 in the "very interesting" criterion.
