Abstract

The community service program carried out by the Mechanical Engineering Department, Padang State Polytechnic lecturer is an activity in order to fulfill the Tridarma of Higher Education for the 2018 budget year. The activity was held in the form of SMAW 2F welding improvement training for the youth of Koto Luar, Pauh sub-district, Padang. In this area, there are many high school graduates who have not dared to enter the real workforce because they feel they do not have sufficient skills to join the field workforce. On the other hand, the Koto Luar village is currently developing very fast, because there has been assimilation between migrants and indigenous people. Along with increasing population, of course also followed by the addition of living facilities. To synergize the increase in progress with its human resource capabilities, various knowledge and skills are needed, one of which is the electric welding skills knowledge of SMAW 2F. Its welding training was attended by 21 Koto Luar youths for 4 days at the Mechanical Engineering department workshop. Expected abilities after training, Koto Luar youths are able to properly weld 2F methods according to welding standards, so that later participants are expected to enter the world of welding work. After debriefing the participants can take part in the welding training well, so that they get the SMAW 2F welding certificate signed by the director of the Padang State Polytechnic. The welding enhancement training activity of SMAW 2F received positive support from the chairman of the Community Empowerment Agency (BPM) and village leaders, because this activity had long been wanted by the community. The Koto Luar community hopes that the training to improve SMAW 2F's welding ability for youth in Pauh Padang sub-district can be carried out continuously, because many young people are interested in SMAW's welding knowledge, the goal is to be able to open entrepreneurs and fill jobs around Lambung Bukit, Koto Luar , and Limau Manis Padang.

Abstract

Abstract

Electrolysis is a method used to describe the composition of air. electrolysis converts air bonds (H2O) into its constituent compounds flammable Hydrogen and Oksigen which help the combustion process. Water electrolytic devices are called HHO generators, HHO generators use pure water electrolysis, the results of the meeting between H2 and O2 will be used as alternative fuels in meeting renewable energy needs. This research uses a HHO generator. Testing the performance of the HHO generator is done experimentally on a laboratory scale. The first stage is making a dry type HHO generator using SS316L plate. The size of the plate is 70 mm x 70 mm, the center of the plate is punched Ø 12 mm, the top and the bottom of the plate are perforated Ø 10 mm. The HHO generator consists of  5 cells and 4 neutral plates for each cell by agreeing 5, 7 and 9 grams of KOH for 1 liter of distilled water. The results of the production of HHO gas produces a large amount of H2 and O2 which flows in units of minutes at a volume of 500 ml. HHO gas production parameters will depend on current, power and efficiency will increase from each of the above variables. Measurements use special measurement tools to distinguish which are quite significant

Abstract

This study discusses the turnaround time (TAT) process in the 20 Tons Excavator refurbishment process carried out by a heavy equipment repair shop in Palembang City. TAT is the time range for the completion of the work, starting from when the tool arrives at the workshop until the job is completed. In this study, the employer is the owner of the heavy equipment, and the work recipient is the workshop where the heavy equipment is carried out. Based on the workshop records, during the 20 Tons TAT Excavator's refurbishment process, the best time was achieved was 56 working days. At the same time, the entrepreneur felt that 56 days was too long and the entrepreneur asked that this repair could be completed within a maximum of 30 working days. This delay causes huge losses for entrepreneurs resulting in lost business opportunities. This research aims to increase the TAT for the completion of the 20 Tons Excavator refurbishment work completion time following the work completion agreement. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct a study to determine the causes of delays in repair work. In this study, the authors use the method used in this analysis: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC). Based on the research, it was found that three things significantly affect the delay in completing the work, namely the limited area for painting, work agreements as a result of the availability of spare parts and completion of work from third parties. In the process of reconditioning heavy equipment, namely setting up the painting area, availability of spare parts and ensuring the completion of work submitted to third parties, to achieve the fastest time for completion of work

Abstract

Nagari Salo is one of the villages in the Baso sub-district, Agam Regency. In preparing the Medium Term Development Plan (RPJM) for the Nagari, a website was created to make it easier for administrative services, to inform the activities, potential of the Nagari and the achievements of the Nagari Salo. This service activity aims to provide solutions to these problems, namely by building a village profile website and a village information system website to assist technology-based village services. To achieve the expected goals, this service is carried out in 5 stages, namely situation analysis, problem identification, determining the objectives and benefits of activities, problem solving plans and implementations, and website governance training so that the users are maximized. In addition, the team also facilitated building a Nagari online store website to help promote MSMEs in the Nagari. So that this service does not only help the nagari facilities in improving services to the community, it also improves the quality of human resources in managing the nagari towards a digital village.
