Abstract

A research on the activity of the central nervous system stimulant of some bottled energy drinks on the market for white mice (Mus musculus, L.) has been done. The samples labelled Minuman Energi (ME) 1, ME 2, ME 3, ME 4 and ME 5 and administered perorally. Each sample has administration volume of 0.4 mL/20g BW. Comparator used is caffeine (6.5 mg/Kg BW). Parameters used for stimulant activity were endurance tested using Rotary road, while  motoric activity and curiosity tested using Automatic Hole Board. From the research that has been done, it is known that ME 1, ME 2, ME 3, ME 4 and ME 5 has a central nervous system stimulant activity by increasing endurance, motoric activity and curiosity in mice significantly.

Abstract

Has done research on the effect of skin extract of eggplant (Solanum melongena L) on the formation of atherosclerosis in male quail (coturnix coturnix japonica). Induction of atherosclerosis in high-fat feeding (MLT) and prophylthiourasil. eggplant skin extract dose used was 25 mg/kg BB, 50 mg/kg BB, and 100 mg/kg BB. treatment of the animals for 60 days. results showed that administration of the eggplant skin extract effect was 50 mg/kg BB and a dose of 100 mg/kg BB . use within a period of time does not affect the ratio of organ weight of quail.

Abstract

Study about the influence of Euphorbia hirta L. leaves’s aethanolic extract on the levels of blood LDL in white male mice has been done. The aethanolic extract of Euphorbia hirta L. was given orally once a day for 7 th, 14 th and 21 th days.The doses used were 2, 6, 18 mg/ 20g body weight respectively. Control group was given standard food. Parameter was measured level of blood LDL. The result show that the aethanolic extract of Euphorbia hirta L. does not influence to the levels of LDL, while the time factor for 7 th, 14 th and 21 th days showed a significant effect (p <0.05).

Abstract

Influence of the ethanolic extracts of Sumateran ginseng (Talinum triangulare  (Jacq.) Willd) on SGOT and SGPT activities in serum of male mice induced CCl4 has been done. The extract was given orally once a day for 14, 21, and 28 days respectively,at various doses 125, 250, and 500 mg/kg BW. The group of mice treated with Na CMC 0,5 % was used as control. The results suggest a possible hepatoprotective potential of the ethanol extract of Talinum triangulare  can decrease the SGOT and SGPT activities on male mice induced CCl4.

Abstract

An assay of the active cutaneous anti anaphylactic of the ethanolic extract of the Dracaena angustifolia Roxb. On male white mice has been studied. The assay was done by giving three different doses (100,300, 900 mg per/kg bw). Allergic reaction was induced by giving egg’s albumin as antigen. The anti anaphylactic effect was determined by measurement of the pro long of occurrence time, the dereased in diameter and the color intensity of the blue bump formed by using blue evan’s solution as indicator which was given intravenously. Result indicated the ethanolic extract of Dracaena angustifolia Roxb. (100, 300, 900 mg/kg bw) had significant effect for each dose (p<0.01). The dose of 900 mg per kg body weight showed best effect.
