Abstract

OPTIMIZATION OF LEARNING QUALITY BASED ON INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION 4.0 IN THE VETERINARY MEDICINE PROGRAM OF UNIVERSITAS NUSA CENDANA. Innovation activities carried out aim to find out the main issues that become problems at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nusa Cendana. The method used in determining the main principle is the Urgency, Seriousness, Growth method. Based on this analysis, the most appropriate contemporary issue to be raised is that the optimization of learning based on the industrial revolution 4.0 is not yet optimal within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. If the issue is left then the quality of the institution will decrease. Therefore, innovation activities are needed to overcome these issues. There are four innovation activities carried out. The first is the determination of the main issues, the second is to provide assistance for lecturers regarding digitalization of teaching materials, assisted by the quality assurance group of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the third is the preparation of e-learning based learning designs, and the fourth is the collection and preparation of e-learning based learning materials. The result of this activity is the use of digitizing learning in veterinary study programs. This activity has an impact on the development of e-learning learning in veterinary study programs at the University of Nusa Cendana by increasing the participation of lecturers and students in using e-learning at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nusa Cendana. Through this activity, learning is more creative and innovative based on the industrial revolution 4.0.

Abstract

Produktivitas ternak kambing di lahan kering Nusa Tenggara Timur yang dipelihara secara tradisional semi-intensif sangat dirugikan oleh parasit. Studi kasus selama bulan Juli 2016 pada 5 peternakan rakyat ini mendeskripsikan pola pemeliharaan ternak kambing di Kupang yang dikaitkan dengan risiko infeksi/infestasi parasit. Kambing sebanyak 20 ekor dari 5 peternakan kambing di Kota Kupang (Kelurahan Manutapen, Kelurahan Lasiana) dan di Kabupaten Kupang (Desa Pariti dan Desa Oenesu) terdiri dari berbagai umur diambil sampel feses untuk pemeriksaan parasit kualitatif dengan metode pengapungan sederhana. Observasi dilakukan terhadap perkandangan dan padang penggembalaan. Wawancara terstruktur pada pemilik peternakan untuk mengetahui tata kelola peternakan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan semua ternak terinfeksi parasit saluran pencernaan berupa cacing kelompok strongil, cacing Strongyloides, cacing Trichuris dan protozoa Eimeria spp. Sistim peternakan kambing yang dikelola secara tradisional semi-intensif sebagai usaha sampingan dimana ternak dilepas saat cuaca cerah, kandang alas tanah tanpa pemisahan umur, dan kotoran jarang dibersihkan mendukung siklus hidup parasit.

Abstract

Kendala-kendala dalam pengobatan ternak seperti yang telah disebutkan dapat memboroskan waktu, tenaga, obat-obatan, dan mungkin berisiko bagi keselamatan. Administrasi obat yang kurang sempurna juga berisiko membuat pengobatan di bawah dosis efektif (under dose) sehingga memicu resistensi. Untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan efektivitas pengobatan ternak, maka perlu dilakukan inovasi dalam sediaan obat menjadi sediaan pakan berimbuhan. Dengan demikian administrasi obat dilakukan secara voluntary per oral. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui palatabilitas pakan berimbuhan berupa biskuit dengan beberapa golongan antelmintika yaitu albendazole, piperazine citrate dan levamisole. Biskuit dasar dibuat dari bahan dedak gandum yang direkatkan dengan bubur kanji dan maizena. Biskuit pakan berimbuhan dijemur dibawah terik matahari selama dua hari dan diberikan kepada hewan coba sesuai dosis anjuran. Sediaan biskuit dirancang untuk dosis pemberian 1 biskuit per 20 kg BB. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencampuran antelmintik kepada pakan berupa biskuit dedak gandum menghasilkan pakan berimbuhan memiliki palatabilitas yang baik untuk ketiga antelmintika yaitu albendazole, piperazine citrate, dan levamisole.

Abstract

Pengendalian yang strategis perlu mempertimbangkan data epidemiologi trematodosis itu sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui status prevalensi terkini (update) kasus trematodosis pada sapi bali di Kupang. Sebanyak 51 ekor sapi bali dewasa diambil sampel feses dan diperiksa dengan metode filtrasi bertingkat selama periode September 2019 hingga Januari 2020. Data diolah dan ditampilkan sebagai statistik deskriptif. Kajian ini mengungkap prevalensi trematodosis pada sapi bali di Kupang sebesar 25,49%, dengan diantaranya menderita fasciolosis sebesar 19,61% dan infeksi amphistome sebesar 9,80%.

Abstract

Angka konsumsi alkohol di Provinsi NTT menduduki peringkat pertama pada tahun 2016. Alkohol tradisional paling banyak dikonsumsi di Indonesia, alkohol tradisional dari NTT biasa disebut Sopi. Alkohol merupakan suatu radikal bebas yang dapat menyebabkan stres oksidatif. Stres oksidatif akan menyebabkan kerusakan biologis pada tubuh. Salah satu antioksidan yang berpengaruh untuk melawan atau menetralisir stres oksidatif adalah Glutation tereduksi (GSH). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian minuman beralkohol jenis sopi, bir dan vodka terhadap kadar GSH tikus putih. Metode jenis rancangan penelitian adalah eksperimental laboratorik dengan pendekatan post test only control group design. Sebanyak 24 ekor tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) betina galur Sprague dawley berumur 2-3 bulan dengan berat badan 150-250 gram yang dibagi dalam empat kelompok perlakuan terdiri atas enam ekor tikus. Kelompok Kn, P1, P2 dan P3 secara berturut-turut adalah kelompok kontrol normal, kelompok perlakuan sopi, kelompok perlakuan bir dan kelompok perlakuan vodka. Dosis yang diberikan adalah 0,008 ml/g BB/hari per oral. Setelah 10 hari perlakuan, darah tikus diambil untuk pengukuran kadar GSH melalui sampel serum darah tikus dan diuji menggunakan ELISA Reader. Hasil penelitian ini rerata kadar GSH pada kelompok Kn, P1, P2 dan P3 secara berturut-turut adalah 1,114, 6,366, 1,852 dan 2,303 nmol/ml. Terdapat peningkatan kadar GSH yang bermakna (p<0,05) pada kelompok P1, P2 dan P3 dibandingkan dengan kelompok Kn. Terdapat perbedaan bermakna yang signifikan (p<0,05) pada kelompok P1 dibandingkan dengan kelompok Kn. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah minuman beralkohol jenis sopi, bir dan vodka memiliki efek berupa peningkatan kadar GSH

Abstract

Important blood parasites in chickens are members of the phylum Apicomplexa, which are Haemoproteus, Leucocytozoon and Plasmodium. Blood parasite can cause low productivity and death in poultry farms. This study aimed to identify and determine the prevalence of blood parasites infection in poultry in Naikoten traditional market, Kupang city. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. One hundred and fifty domestic poultry blood samples have been selected by purposive sampling, collected in Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetat (EDTA) tube and then taken to the Laboratory of Parasitology to be made into blood smears which were then examined using a 100x of microscope magnification. Blood parasites that had been identified are Plasmodium sp., And Haemoproteus sp. From one hundred and fifty samples, 62 chickens were positively infected by Plasmodium sp., 26 chickens were infected by Haemoproteus sp., The prevalence of infection of Plasmodium sp., 41.3%, Haemoproteus sp., 17.3%, and the prevalence of mixed infections of both parasites was 2.03%.

Abstract

Pigs are important livestock commodities of the community in the East Nusa Tenggara. Pigs in East Nusa Tenggara sussceptible to endoparasite disease because of traditionally maintained. One of worm parasites that attack the pigs are Ascaris suum. The purpose of this study to determine the prevalence and morphological characteristic in 10 pigs local races and 10 landrace race. The results showed from 12 pigs local races only 1 had infected of Ascaris suum with prevalence of 8,3%. Of the 142 pigs landrace race are found 10 pigs had infected of Ascaris suum with prevalence of 7,04%. According to worm count, the value of Ascaris suum infection in race lokal pigs relatively higher with burden parasitism 72 worm per pig compared to landrace pig races with infection load average of 1,5 worm per pig. Morphological examination of Ascaris suum in pigs local race shows the length and diameter of female worms 25,25(±3,23) cm and 3,37(±0,91) mm and the length and diameter of the male worms 29,13(±3,84) cm and 5,03 (±1,28)mm and the length and diameter of the male worms 20,62(±2,37)cm and 3,02 (±1,59)mm. Ascaris suum male has a reddish brown color and in Ascaris suum females have a pale brown color (white). the concluded of this study Ascaris suum in kota kupang has the morphological characteristics that are not much different with the literature, with the highest prevalence occurs in pigs local races

Abstract

Dog helmintiasis is generally caused by nematodes. The most destructive worm from nematode class is Toxocara canis. Toxocara canis causes worst thing for dog healthy. An adult worm infestation can cause less nutrition absorbtion in small intestine that leads to lose some weight. This research aims to have body weight gain in naturally infected local breed puppies by Toxocara canis after pyrantel pamoat administration in Kupang. Samples were taken from 24 domestic puppies at an early age of 1-2 month old which have positively infected by Toxocara canis. They were devided in to two groups. Groups 1: comprised of 20 puppies, they were feeding pyrantel pamoate on first day, the eight and the fifteen by the dose of 5 mg/kg weight on the contrary for the controlled groups there were four puppies. The parameter which had observed in this research were every egg per gram (EPG), weight gain (WG) and body condition scoring (BCS). The result showed that pyrantel pamoat medicine had good effect to eradicate worm infection of Toxocara canis. Pyrantel pamoate can reduce a number of worm eggs by the presentation FECRT of 97%, increasing puppy weight gain and puppy daily weight gain and also increasing body condition scoring of the puppies.

Abstract

Pigs have a very important role for the community that is as a source of animal protein, a source of income, savings and jobs. Pigs are susceptible to various diseases, including diseases that are caused by a parasite of Nematodes class, namely Ascaris suum. The purpose of this study was to determine the degree of real infections by parasitic load value, to determine the degree of infection alleged by TTGT value and to determine the fecundity of Ascaris suum in pigs Landrace in Kupang. The sample was 20 adult male Landrace pigs (finisher) were infected with Ascaris suum. The results showed a positive sample of 20 infected worm Ascaris suum by average number of male worm as much as 3 and the average number of female worm as much as 7 as well as the presence of the worm eggs in the stool with the average amount of 4,645 worm eggs as much by using the method of Mc Master. The results of counting the number of eggs per gram of feces (TTGT) showed 19 samples have TTGT number of> 2000 were categorized as heavy infestations, while one sample has a number TTGT <2000 were categorized as moderate infestation.. The results of the calculation of worm Ascaris suum fecundity showed the highest and lowest values of fecundity, that is each 962,666.66 eggs/adult female worm/day and 180.819 eggs/adults female worm/day.. In conclusion, the fecundity of Ascaris suum in Kupang varied.

Abstract

Rabies has been a serious public health threat in Flores Island, Indonesia since it was introduced by Buton Island fisherman in 1997. The first case of canine rabies was officially confirmed in 1998 in Tanjung Bunga, East Flores regency. The virus spread to other regencies in the island, including Sikka regency. To control the disease, a routine vaccination program has been applied since 2000, however, this program has not yet been successful in eliminating canine rabies from Flores. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of canine rabies vaccination in Magepanda, Sikka. Total 32 dog’s serum samples with age range around 6-12 months were collected in the 14th day post rabies vaccination. Then, those serum samples were examined using ELISA test to measure its antibody titer. The test showed that 78,125% of the samples presented protective antibody titers. Chi-square analysis results show that, no significant relationship between age and the dog with the results of the rabies antibody titer (ELISA) in District Magepanda Sikka, it is probably caused by the uneven distribution of the dog's life.
